@@davidmaxwelloswald2220not really. You have a common point of how he transcend emotions with its guitar but the solos are sometimes really different 😉
My favourite Rothery solo is, and always will be from Easter; melodic, graceful, soaring, melancholy, yet triumphant. It's not always about the technique, but about the soul that goes into the solo.
Steve Rothery is simply my favorite. So very great and beautiful guitar playing forever. I have seen him so many times and he always gives me chills ❤️🎶🎵🎼
If I wasn’t in Germany during my army stint, I would never have heard of them either. So now I’ve been listening to them for 40 years. My German pub friends brought me to my first Marillion concert, and I was in awe as everyone sang EVERY word of EVERY song of their Misplaced Childhood album… It’s really just one long 40 minute song. Marillion and Steve Rothery, WOW, WOW, this level of mastery and musicality is truly stunning and your compilation showcases that beautifully. Thank you for compiling this. I Love Marillion's music and have been a following them for 34 years now; the band still amaze me everyday.
Wonderful those riffs. Love this guy. Thanks Steve Rothery, thanks Steve Hogarth, thanks Fish, thanks Marillion. Your song makes me dream. Greetings from Brazil.
He has been my No.1 guitar player since 84, one of my favourites i would love to hear Steve play live thats not in Pt1 or Pt 2 video is Lady Nina. Marillion are very much unknown in my country of New Zealand so will probably never get to see them live again sadly.
That's how I felt when I first found out about Marillion. Steve rothery is one of the most outstanding guitar players with great tone and great great phrasing. First song I ever heard from them was Neverland and I've been hooked ever since. I'm glad someone pulled me out of the rock I was under
Steve Rothery is so in touch with the universal energy. His solos resonate with compassion and adds another vocal line to compliment Steve Hogarth's awesome vocals.
My comment on pt 1 still stands (without the puns though): Steve Rothery doesn't just play the guitar, he has a relationship with it! They are as one, resulting in sounds that make the worst day bright as the sun.
Steve's sound is the closest I have heard to David Gilmour's. Not a bad company to be in. 80s Marillion is probably one of the most underrated bands ever. Some of their stuff rivals Pink Floyd's, but the Floyd came out so much earlier, it is understandable why they became world-famous. Still, just like Pink Floyd's, Marillion's music has not aged one day. Incredible band. So happy to see them still performing and recording.
@@wildviolet3973 That’s your opinion. Millions would disagree with you. Stating it as a fact makes you look foolish. Pink Floyd wrote some of the most beautiful and timeless music in the history of rock.

Steve Hogarth sounds perfect on the seasons end album, yet I've still got to get used to hearing anybody else but Fish on the earlier ones including clutching at straws. Steve Rothery's playing is always so heart -rending especially in certain passages.
I will never get used to hearing him sing Fish's lyrics. Fish wrote and sang those songs from his heart. Hogarth is just reading the script and his interpretation is like nails on a chalkboard to me. Hogarth's own stuff is amazing though, Marbles and This Strange Engine are masterpieces in their own right.
