UNSC ships really are one of the most realistic sci-fi ships out there in fiction. I can genuinely see us having stuff like this in a few centuries (even if they are just used for inter-solar system travel)
Yeah, around reach was when you could see parts like the bridge, radar dish, radome, turrets and VLS cells in higher fidelity which is why I like halo ships, you can see all the details that make sense and the blockyness is what I love as opposed to something like star trek where everything is more advanced and kind of hidden inside the ships.
sorry my dude. most realistic ships are from the expanse. in halo there is "artificial gravity "(yikes), while ships in the expanse rely on "thrust gravity" or no gravity at all, expanse ships are orientated like a skyscraper, when under thrust "down" is the main thrusters at the bottom. Expanse ship Deck layouts are like that of a building, where halo ships are like earth wet navy ships, long ways . i do agree that the ships do look "industrial realistic" in halo where they look like they were made by a hundred system spanning human empire
@fro99er2 oh yeah for sure, the expanse is awesome, the MCRN Tachi, which is the main hero ship and gets renamed to Rocinante, interior reminds me of a navy submarine kind of because of the levels and stairs, but yeah most definetly more realistic and looks like a rocket almost.
Babylon 5 if we really want to go into this. Especially the Earth Force Star Fury. But no, all these ships really do fit into the human design philosophy.
The "Light Battleship" designation of the Vindication-class is a euphemism for being the space equivalent of a Deutschland-class Panzerschiffe... In other words, a pocket battleship.
I’d never even heard of the Point Blank class cruiser before, it looks incredible. It reminds me of Combine architecture with the odd angles and blue lighting.
If nothing else, it's amazing just for the joke in Halo Reach where a soldier requests for artillery support. Actual gets back saying they have Aegis Fate ready to fire a mission. Soldier is like "wtf" and asks if it's wet navy. Actual replies "Nah it's a FUCKING DESTROYER IN ORBIT" and the soldier *instantly* decides getting that fire mission isn't worth being turned into paste with the enemy that's like a ridgeline away.
I'd bet they keep a healthy number of carriers on major worlds since oceans let you move airbases around, and missile carrying submarines to have anti-orbital (or at least ground strike) capabilities you can keep hidden and essentially armored against orbital attack.

I love the idea from the start that we, as a species, will lock in our interstellar status when we refer to the moon as "Luna" seeing as almost every sci-fi property that involves a human race that developed on Earth has done so. Truly a self fulfilling prophecy
Luna is the Spanish word for Moon so a good chunk of earth population already calls it that way. We are only waiting for the people from the north, Asia, Africa, Middle East and part of EU in order to fulfill the prophecy. 😮
8:49 yeah, it’s not mentioned much but wet navy ships still exist. Most of them are probably museum ships (such as the by the 2500’s ancient USS Iowa) though there would likely be some modern wet navy ships. Mostly to patrol waters. Just imagine some wet navy cruiser (or battleship?) defending a port/coastal city from a covenant attack.
You can actually see a Wet Navy ship on the Halo 3 multiplayer map Longshore! It's a drone carrier ship, you can see several drones on the flight deck.
8:47 gotta love that the ocean Fairing Navy still exists if the Crassus Class Super Carrier is what the Ocean fairing Aircraft Carriers look like now I am curious to see what the ocean fairing Cruisers, Destroyers, Frigates and Corvette’s look like. Maybe something like much larger versions of the Littoral Combat ships or the Zumwalt Super Destroyer. Maybe even a much larger version of the Type 26 City Class Frigate.
My favorite navy in sci-fi. I actually really like the Infinity, and I wish we got to see it in action in more good stories. It’s a crime the Spartan Ops opening is all we got of that thing in a fleet battle. We really don’t have a lot of true space battles in the games. We can see or hear about them happening in the background, but no Mass Effect 3 ending style cutscene of two fleets going at it. Imagine how the opening salvo at Earth must have looked in Halo 2
I find it surprising that in Red vs. Blue, Malcom Hargrove used a Halbert class destroyer as his ship, the _Staff of Charon_ while Dr. Leonard Church used what is probably a Charon class frigate as the _Mother of Invention_ . I mean, one's literally the Charon class, the same name as Hargrove's company!
Church used a Paris, not a Charon. The Charons are in 3 and have that large hanger bay between the engine pods. Church's ship uses the Reach model, which is the Paris class.
The idea of a random ship we see for 30 seconds in the background at the end halo reach being the most advanced spacecraft humanity has is pretty funny.
It's nice to see another Vessels of the UNSC video, kinda excited to see the redo of the destroyer classes. Or even some of the carriers that aren't well known.
