DAMN IT I THOUGHT THE SHORTSWORD WAS A PLANE
Technically it is
Shame
The B-56 shortsword is considered a bomber.
Aircraft is aircraft.
I was waiting for you to mention it the whole video because everyone forgets it. I was going to comment that you missed it but you realized before lol. Love your videos keep up the good work
UNSC ships really are one of the most realistic sci-fi ships out there in fiction. I can genuinely see us having stuff like this in a few centuries (even if they are just used for inter-solar system travel)
Yeah, around reach was when you could see parts like the bridge, radar dish, radome, turrets and VLS cells in higher fidelity which is why I like halo ships, you can see all the details that make sense and the blockyness is what I love as opposed to something like star trek where everything is more advanced and kind of hidden inside the ships.
sorry my dude. most realistic ships are from the expanse. in halo there is "artificial gravity "(yikes), while ships in the expanse rely on "thrust gravity" or no gravity at all, expanse ships are orientated like a skyscraper, when under thrust "down" is the main thrusters at the bottom.
Expanse ship Deck layouts are like that of a building, where halo ships are like earth wet navy ships, long ways .
i do agree that the ships do look "industrial realistic" in halo where they look like they were made by a hundred system spanning human empire
@fro99er2 oh yeah for sure, the expanse is awesome, the MCRN Tachi, which is the main hero ship and gets renamed to Rocinante, interior reminds me of a navy submarine kind of because of the levels and stairs, but yeah most definetly more realistic and looks like a rocket almost.
@@fro99er2 Both are good in their own right. Im sure that we will eventually be advanced enough to build anti-gravity tech or artificial gravity tech.
Babylon 5 if we really want to go into this. Especially the Earth Force Star Fury.
But no, all these ships really do fit into the human design philosophy.
I too, Mark, wish to hear more about the space trucks. I must know if future space truckers still honk their horns when colony ship kids fly past and do the fist pump thing out the port windows.
Watching an ODST depressurize the airlock just to stick their arm out to make the space trucks honk would be fucking hilarious
Ah I remeber being in the bus with my friend going on a field trip and successfully having a trucker do this for us hahaha it made us so happy…. Years down the line I got to do to return the favor 😂
9:05 I see what you did there. I miss RvB.
Freckles is a good boy
@@estoncastillo8258confetti gun is best gun
@KILLERMEXICAN210 "what is wrong with you people"
i like how they blew up the infinite in a cutscene
My favorite navy in sci-fi.
I actually really like the Infinity, and I wish we got to see it in action in more good stories. It’s a crime the Spartan Ops opening is all we got of that thing in a fleet battle.
We really don’t have a lot of true space battles in the games. We can see or hear about them happening in the background, but no Mass Effect 3 ending style cutscene of two fleets going at it. Imagine how the opening salvo at Earth must have looked in Halo 2
Thats what Halo Homefront is for!
You once asked in one of your videos whether people would prefer short videos, or longer compilations. I would definitely go with the longer compilation format. Just my personal opinion, but I really enjoy these longer videos discussing the ships from my favorite sci-fi franchise.
The "Light Battleship" designation of the Vindication-class is a euphemism for being the space equivalent of a Deutschland-class Panzerschiffe...
In other words, a pocket battleship.
Great video. And small blooper at 5:16
1:52 "Dudin Sky GmbH" -> GmbH is a German abbreviation for "Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung" which is a common type of company in Germany. Translates to limited liability company.
Bridge on the bottom of the pillar of autumn is wild to me but I also understand it lol
Adding to the Battleship class is the Thanatos-class Battleship, i dont really remember if it had the heavy ir superheavy designation, but it was featured in SotP
I share your enthusiasm for civilian ships and even military ships that are for support and logistics instead of combat.
12:48
That is for sure the coolest looking Halo Ship I’ve seen
Can't wait for you to talk about prowler. Hope you go into a little depth on the Point Of No Return.
Dude, the booster game looks so fucking cool in my opinion.
The Infinity could be an amazing ship, if 343 didn’t try to destroy it in some way every time they saw it.
1:42 today i learned there's a g*dd*mn homeworld reference in halo.
Good vid but if there was any vessels you missed it would have to be the SKT-9 Bumblebee lifeboat/shuttle basically the thing that landed you on Halo in CE.
I wasn't counting drop pods or escape shuttles
D102 owl ship reminds me of the helicopters from fallout, similar design
Mark: Every single human ship
*Literally forgets the Shortswords😊
Well it's all exoatmospheric craft and I'm like 99% sure the short sword isn't. I could be wrong but im pretty sure.
@eefer5416 Master Chief escapes halo in combat evolved in a shortsword
@@CaliforniaSolder longsword* the short sword had spindly little wings
The greatest ship ever built! And it got bopped in 4 minutes :]
NGL I was kinda excited for the boats.
Wasn't the D75-DC/G the one that was prepped to hunt down the Master Chief in H4, though? If that's the case, we do actually have a visual
Resolute class not canon with its radiators? 😢
Nope its fanon, based off an older visual of the Dilligence
6:25 is that the usg ishimuras distant cousin lol?
4:40 Star Citizen lets goo. I don't know how much you know about sc but there's some amazing ships and lore in there... video maybe?
My favourite ship is the UNSC spirit of Fire
You didn’t talk about the Thamotos class battleship
Fenix class space craft 3:00 - 3:03.
Fellow 890 enjoyer? Man of culture.
I wanna know more about the wet navy......🥲
Love the vids keep up the good work
Phase out Earth and Moon for Terra and Luna
Why the hell hasn’t halo wars added space battles 😢 from what I can understand the covenant will just smash
Did he briefly mention the vulture? Or did I miss it? Or did he just not mention that?
That's an aircraft, not a space ship
@@gammacompanymark I'm pretty sure the animation shows it coming in from atmosphere But I always assumed it was just a modified pelicane.
@@gammacompanymarkI did a little bit more research after what you said. And it's a spacecraft even by their own standards. It comes from a spaceship lands into orbit. The only requirement it doesn't have is the poor man's Writing excuse That it doesn't have radiation shielding.
no vulture?
Thanks for vid man! Hope all have a blessed year 😊 John 3:16-21
The correct video title should be "No Visual".
booty... yar!
charon is pronounced hg-aron (hg like youre trying to make a spit bubble in the back of your throat)
ignore the part where he says that humans and forerunners are 2 different species
🙏
👍
Typical american got no clue other countries have their own names for types of companies 😂
Bruh why would I ever need to know that lmao
okay someone please help me... ive spent hours all night... what game was the UNSC hammer of dawn in? ive gone through all the wikis and idk if im looking over it but i cant find it. 2. in my investigations on the wiki i came across a ship bigger than the infinity that was a dreadnaught of some sort anyone can tell me if thats cannon or no
Not canon. You stumbled across the Halo Fanon wiki.
I’d never even heard of the Point Blank class cruiser before, it looks incredible. It reminds me of Combine architecture with the odd angles and blue lighting.
It's actually a fan design, by the Sins of the Prophet team that was made canon by 343.
It's first (and possibly only) appearance, to my knowledge, is in the book Ghosts of Reach. It serves as a command center for ONI.
Is it just me or do think that it would be so cool to stumble across an ancient human ship/site in the next or future halo game.
From the only one we've seen, it looks flat with a small rounded oval part in the middle
I honestly really love the ships of the UNSC. I love how unique and varied they are from class to class and even ship to ship.
My favorite thing about the Infinity Class is that there is a secret 2nd one out there somewhere.
Eternity was stripped for parts to repair the Infinity afaik
@@averagehotwheelsenjoyer1649 Yes, but construction was still going along at least until Cortana did her thing. I don't think anything after that has come out about Eternity.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystemAfter the Infinity was damaged or destroyed, the UNSC probably accelerated construction of the Eternity.
@@tetraxis3011 Probably? Yes. However, it is just speculation.
I think an alternative to the "light battleship" implying a "heavy battleship" is that the battleship may have gotten a bad wrap in recent conflict. If, say, battleships went a similar route as carriers during the human covenant war, where they turned out to be way too expensive and slow. The political will may not have been there to rebuild a new battleship, given their so recent failure. So instead, the new ship line was rebranded a "light battleship" to imply more flexibility and speed.
I like stuff like this that alludes to the broader political world and behind the scenes puppeteering that it takes to get a massive trillion dollar spaceship line manufactured
I love the idea from the start that we, as a species, will lock in our interstellar status when we refer to the moon as "Luna" seeing as almost every sci-fi property that involves a human race that developed on Earth has done so. Truly a self fulfilling prophecy
If nothing else, we're going to need something else to call 'the moon' once we can visit more than one of them.
Luna is the Spanish word for Moon so a good chunk of earth population already calls it that way. We are only waiting for the people from the north, Asia, Africa, Middle East and part of EU in order to fulfill the prophecy. 😮
8:47 it delights me to know that the UNCS has a wet navy, even if an aircraft carrier is the only ship we know of
Yeah
If nothing else, it's amazing just for the joke in Halo Reach where a soldier requests for artillery support.
Actual gets back saying they have Aegis Fate ready to fire a mission. Soldier is like "wtf" and asks if it's wet navy. Actual replies "Nah it's a FUCKING DESTROYER IN ORBIT" and the soldier *instantly* decides getting that fire mission isn't worth being turned into paste with the enemy that's like a ridgeline away.
I'd bet they keep a healthy number of carriers on major worlds since oceans let you move airbases around, and missile carrying submarines to have anti-orbital (or at least ground strike) capabilities you can keep hidden and essentially armored against orbital attack.
@@cpMetiswhere can you find that joke? never heard that in all my years of playing
@@cromwellington441 It's one of the audio stories that you can listen in on from the radios throughout the game. Halo Canon has a good video on them.
Voice acting is a mixed bag, but they helped a LOT at matching up the timelines of Reach and The Fall of Reach back when the game was new and people were still piecing together what was and wasn't retconned.
The one in question, transcript from wiki:
Dragon X-ray: "Blue Delta, this is Dragon X-ray. We are on the ground and three mikes out from the objective. Over."
Blue-Delta: "Dragon X-ray, be advised that you are the only UNSC ground asset in that grid."
DX: "Say again, Blue-Delta. We've got movement due east. That should be Strike Red, over."
BD: "That's a negative, Dragon X-ray. I say again; be advised that you are the only UNSC asset in that area."
DX: "Roger, Blue-Delta. We're picking up that movement again due east. You got something to soften it up?"
BD: "You got a location, Dragon X-ray?"
DX: "Grid as follows: Whiskey-Delta one-five-seven-four-one-seven-one-two, over."
BD: "Roger, I copy: Whiskey-Delta one-five-seven-four-one-seven-one-two."
DX: "That's correct. Request immediate support from any assets on-station."
BD: "Dragon X-ray, it looks like all I've got available at this time is the UNSC Aegis Fate."
DX: ".....Blue-Delta, is the Aegis Fate 'wet Navy'?"
BD: "Negative, Dragon. She's currently listed as an exo-asset; a frigate."
DX: "Whoa! We are less than a klick from the target area, Blue-Delta. We ain't that desperate for help."
BD: "Understood, Dragon X-ray. Give 'em hell out there, and good luck, out."
whenever you run out of halo ships to discuss try Mass Effect, nobody talks about ME ships enough.
Love seeing some of the more niche lore get out there.
Also that crashed ship on C h o r u s looks a little like a Mulsanne at the butt don't it
It’s Chorus not partition
8:49 yeah, it’s not mentioned much but wet navy ships still exist. Most of them are probably museum ships (such as the by the 2500’s ancient USS Iowa) though there would likely be some modern wet navy ships. Mostly to patrol waters.
Just imagine some wet navy cruiser (or battleship?) defending a port/coastal city from a covenant attack.
You can actually see a Wet Navy ship on the Halo 3 multiplayer map Longshore! It's a drone carrier ship, you can see several drones on the flight deck.
The mona lisa? OH GOD NO
The Infinity is the best thing 343 ever made.
9:04 You have EXCELLENT taste. God I loved the Chorus trilogy.
He is cultured indeed 🧐
I find it surprising that in Red vs. Blue, Malcom Hargrove used a Halbert class destroyer as his ship, the _Staff of Charon_ while Dr. Leonard Church used what is probably a Charon class frigate as the _Mother of Invention_ . I mean, one's literally the Charon class, the same name as Hargrove's company!
Church used a Paris, not a Charon. The Charons are in 3 and have that large hanger bay between the engine pods. Church's ship uses the Reach model, which is the Paris class.
@@ALLMINDmercenarysupportsystem Huh. I didn't know that. Thanks!
Really wish that Halo Space ship boardgame stuck around.
Wasn't there an intact ancient human ship discovered, I vaguely remember it being mentioned in one of the halo books?
1:43 Kuushan Shipyards? A homeworld reference? Nice
Those booster frames are the most anime thing I've seen in a halo. And that's even considering the naked AI waifu
It's nice to see another Vessels of the UNSC video, kinda excited to see the redo of the destroyer classes. Or even some of the carriers that aren't well known.
Thanatos class heavy battleship
Artemis class battlecruisers
Athens class carrier
Come on now😭😭😭😭😭
Those ain't canon and so were not included
Oh@@gammacompanymark
Let’s go I’ve been looking for a video about this but couldn’t find it
12:00-12:50was just a whole lot of Prowler greatness
The Infinity was the most powerful human vessel ever built? In the words of Master Gunns from Halo 2, "My ass!" Forerunner era human ships have to have been at least comparable to the Forerunner ones, so they would absolutely be superior to Infinity. Otherwise, good video. Didn't notice any real errors, and it was entertaining.
Light Battleship doesnt even make sense. If its light on armor but heavy on weapons and speed, that would make it a Battle Cruiser
Agreed. Hell, the Valiant-class is a literal battlecruiser but name. Its too confusing.
It's pronounced mako
Hmm. Thought it was mako.
Ngl, it would've been hilarious and interesting if the UNSC used the 4 iwoa class bb's for their wet navy
my favorite unsc frigate is the strident because it is 1 major story beat away from being a straight up forerunner ship
Ah hell nah what da hell is THIS
The idea of a random ship we see for 30 seconds in the background at the end halo reach being the most advanced spacecraft humanity has is pretty funny.
We need Halo ship games
Always thought the Mulsanne class was fucking beautiful. Especially when that laser goes off…
WET NAVY
25:12 IT'S A SPACE TOMCAT! Even down to the name, its literally a Space F14
I just realized the mona lisa looks like the USG Ishimura from dead space.
put timestamps for different ship classes
Am I the only one who thinks that sinoviet is just Lockheed martin
so there are also germans making erquipment in the halo universe.. interesting
So many of these ships are just thought up by Nyland
"Dudyn sky gmbh" sounds like what you'd hear when you pushed an empty bucket down a staircase.
5:16 man i thought my phone was going off lol
1:50
Where the hell is Lockheed Martin at?
I wanna know more about the wet navy......🥲
... The Kuushan Shipyards?
I'm glad someone setting up the lore had good taste lol.
Yea lol😂
great video that whats bugs me about sci fi in general why make a spacecraft but not make its schematics sci fi in general needs to be tighter in its lore by condensing certain things spacecraft being one of them.
it doesnt need be 650+ plus book Like Dune to have an apendcies The Martian has 384, First Strike had 352
It's odd that the NMPD needs a space-plane, when something similar to a hornet or falcon would work as space capability wouldn't be needed.
The NMPD has an orbital tether to manage, so it's likely that their duties extend up into low orbit.
@BaconShelf You know I totally forgot that, makes perfect sense, it's literally the biggest and most obvious structure in the city and I missed that lol
I really like the way the S-14 is really similar to the real life F-14
I didn’t know I was waiting for the wet navy, but I was excited. But it’s only 1! :( Anyway good job, the civilian ships were all cool!
This is the first time i ever thought of colony ships not taking back of after they land
I caught that RvB reference there mate.. nice
Very nice, it got a laugh out of me
GMBH is just a German term for company with limited liability, like LLC in the west.
5:53 Neried is pronounced "ner-ee-ed." They were sea nymphs from Greek mythology, the 50 daughters of the sea god Nereus and his wife Doris.
As OP and (formerly) plot armored as Infinity was, You can't argue against it. It felt right to have the baddest ship in the galaxy for a bit.
Did you include the stealth modified frigate from the Cole protocol? It was pretty cool, oni had helped stealth it for a special mission.
Heavy frigate or nothing
