I went with my gut and ordered it on day 1. Got it last week and I’m so much happier with it. It feels great, the screen looks amazing, and the less heat make it feel so refined. Valve did a phenomenal job with the OLED Deck.

@4:26 LOL! Great review brother! I already owned the 512 LCD and decided to pull the trigger on the limited edition OLED. Super happy with the upgrade!
For OG deck owners… that’s a lot of money to burn re-buying this product. I just can’t justify another $800 for a screen.. I’m glad they upgraded it as well as a more efficient system giving you an extra hour of battery…. but just like when Nintendo came out with OLED… its for new users… I’m in Canada and the base OLED is $800 with tax. If the price ever comes down maybe but otherwise I’m completely fine with my NON OLED steam deck, and non OLED switch.
I think you’d have to hold it in your hands and use it to realize this is a massive upgrade in every single way. Sell it bro , buy an oled , you know you want to
With the die shrink, the bigger battery and the better cooling I think they could've upped the clock speeds on the GPU and CPU a little and raised the max TDP a couple watts. I know as is most games get a couple FPS boost with the faster RAM but it would've been nice to get an additional few frames with clock bumps elsewhere. I could see Valve or someone in the community doing this down the road I just think Valve should've done it out of the gate. Either way an incredible update and someone who never even considered buying a Steam Deck (me) is now almost definitely getting one.
To OP, the increased RAM speeds do give you a few percentage points better speeds, but more importantly, make frame times significantly more consistent. So you do actually get a minor performance bump, but the overall performance target is still the same.
They couldve put VRR on the screen also lol, but I agree with you if you can buy one gaming device and that's it I would get a Steam Deck OLED, best bang for buck, biggest library outside of an actual PC and great reparability and value not just hardware but software side which is heavily supported and constantly improving. I think in terms of handheld experience the Oled Steamdeck is significantly better then the Ally or Legion Go. Like the Limited Edition Steam deck is 618grams, just 10grams more then the ROG Ally. While it is lower performance, but with the improved display with real HDR on linux, it looks great. And for the really heavy games streaming within your own home with triple A games or the PS5 with Chiaki. That great battery life, improved wifi, much better bluetooth, and HDR display make is a very solid option. I've gotten to be hands on with the original Steamdeck, the ROG Ally, Legion Go, and the Steamdeck Oled. Original Steamdeck when I touched it was not polished with SteamOS yet, the Ally was great in games, but Windows dragged it down. The Legion Go has a really nice feel to it and great docked experience with fps mode. The Steamdeck Oled is just so much better then the OG Steamdeck. SteamOS has come a long way, the display is way better, its quieter, it feels cooler to hold, and the fit and finish feels much tighter. The Steamdeck Oled is basically the DSLite to the original Steamdecks OG DS
Got my LE edition today, the dpad still have that glossy finish that allows you to slip your finger on it. I kinda like that especially for charge characters. Otherwise it feels more firm and less prompt to error when pressing down and not diagonal. I guess it means a bit harder for shoryuken but I need more testing.
I sold my 256 deck . Don’t regret it one bit . My rog ally has essentially become a destiny 2 /gánelas machine as it’s not worth playing anything else on it
I bought a 2tb rog ally used for £476 (the steam deck is like £479 in the uk). Overall I think it is alright. And the screen isn’t pixelated compared to the steam deck that I gave to my brother. The battery life on the old seems cool but realistically I only play games for short burst of time so it isn’t that much of an issue. I also find the power button to be a lot better, I can simply switch it off by holding the power button and it switches off so the battery percentage where I left off doesn’t change all too much, unlike the deck where it just goes to sleep.
exaggerated review. Yes we know the obvious but the problem was the performance. If we will just play old games and retros in the SteamDeck OLED just to experience good FPS, I think the 512GB variant should go down more. Totally crash the Ally and Legion GO? are you out of your rational mind?
This video seems dishonest. You got the steam deck bc you needed to make content for your platform instead of just wanting the thing which is inherently dishonest.

SteamOS has come a long way, the display is way better, its quieter, it feels cooler to hold, and the fit and finish feels much tighter. The Steamdeck Oled is basically the DSLite to the original Steamdecks OG DS
It’s the Mac vs pc debate. Specs don’t go toe to toe when it’s windows vs custom linux
Oh, wait, it has a USB4 port now?
No it doesn't. Still a 3.1 port
did they fix the sliipery d-pad on the new oled sd? my fingers tend to slip on the d-pad while playing fighting games on the lcd sd
I heard the dpad is better, games that rely on them feel better
Got my LE edition today, the dpad still have that glossy finish that allows you to slip your finger on it. I kinda like that especially for charge characters. Otherwise it feels more firm and less prompt to error when pressing down and not diagonal. I guess it means a bit harder for shoryuken but I need more testing.
I sold my 256 deck . Don’t regret it one bit . My rog ally has essentially become a destiny 2 /gánelas machine as it’s not worth playing anything else on it
Not the aggressive groaning!
What rank are you in rocket league?
Plat 2 right now. Was a diamond for a bit before I took like 2 years off playing
@@TechSpaceCowboy Nice, I'm a C1. I just ordered a 512gb model & was curious if I would be able to play RL well on it. At least for training.
i like the burp
handsome
😅😅 i thought the same also, he looks a bit like brad pit and Daniel Radcliff 😍groovy
Thats why I subscribed… and im loving it😂
Another honest review? Where are the dishonest reviews?
Too bad, I want a dishonest review.

This guy fucks
@@TechSpaceCowboy You're too old to be saying that old man
@@hre2044no one cares
exaggerated review. Yes we know the obvious but the problem was the performance. If we will just play old games and retros in the SteamDeck OLED just to experience good FPS, I think the 512GB variant should go down more. Totally crash the Ally and Legion GO? are you out of your rational mind?
Didn’t realize halo infinite, Elden ring, and Baldurs Gate 3 were retro
@@TechSpaceCowboylol
This video seems dishonest. You got the steam deck bc you needed to make content for your platform instead of just wanting the thing which is inherently dishonest.
I genuinely love this thing. I only make videos now when I have something I feel like talking about.
You can see that in my video history when I have large gaps in uploads.
I'm guessing you're one of the persons that disliked the video haha.
Difficult comments, got to love em.
