Ren'em spoons!!!! Haha. Yes. I remember that Martin episode very well. That's a good one!!! Lol. BTW, Love that beat in the background. That bass is hittin' !!!!
Love the Channel you gotta do the Roland R-8 drum machine, after Roland discontinued the Original TR-808 This was the closet we got to,the real thing it was all over Pop, R&B and Hip Hop plus it had expansion cards for the 909 and other sounds as well
All I remember was seeing a bunch of MPC Fly's on the second hand market for sognificantly less than the original asking price. I don't think anyone was paying MSRP anyway, but I had an MPC 2000 at the time, so I just remember thinking "damn, these cats lost their way." Glad to see them making a come back as far as quality and bringing something new to the MPC brand. The touch screen thing isn't for me, but people seem very happy with it. I'm looking to get myself either another 2000 (XL this time, need that time stretch) or maybe just settling for a good deal on a 1K.
Also need to add that the algorithm blessed me with your channel a couple weeks ago. Like what you're doing. Keep at it. When you blow up, don't go pop (just kidding, but keep that work life balance in check lol)
You forgot a crucial part. If I'm remembering right, the Fly was kinda late and by the time it came out, Apple had switched over to a different charger. So... the Fly's charger worked on the old gen iPads but not the ones that had just been released.
@@DyReckProductions It's versatility was the selling point at the time, however shortly after I bought it the tech-curve brought about hard drive storage, making its CDWR-based storage slow, unreliable, and basically obsolete. Ya had to format the disks, which took forever... Loading was hit n miss... Had to use "Multi Speed" cdrw disks, which were a bit harder to find cause everyone was using High Speed disks for their drives. The sound was 16bit CD quality... Meh'. So yeah... Not a lot to like, but I did learn a lot from it at the time.
MPC Fly... should've had a sticker of a fly on it! (anyone remember the DOD Meatbox?!). Yeah I guess this was a Beta version of the Live, but yeah it still does'nt maje much sense on its own!
As an MPC user, I did want to get one back when it dropped. But as tou mentioned, you needed to spend an extra $600 for an iPad to even get the MPC Fly. I wouldn't mind getting one now for a decent price. The iPad that goes with it is dirt cheap nowadays. Love you cracked up here and there in the video. I laughed with you. 👍👍👍👍👍
I didn't either but I never really was on iOS for that long either. These days I would probably never get a controller like that when they can't even keep the same connectors for a long time.
@@DyReckProductions Ayo you think you could cover more of the AKAI Racks? Love the vids keep at it bruh I always send your videos to all my producer friends
I mean is a car was halfway smart they would make like a suitcase NPC live! I think that's kind of cool thing about the fly if they had this kind of suitcase thing going. It would be cool to have like a NPC love suitcase with maybe even better speakers and some zany modular thing. They have so many different ways they could run with what they've brought themselves to at this point. I miss the time. When companies were just crazy enough to do something stupid and make it fun. I don't mind living in a world where certain things are easier perfected but I kind of miss the imperfect version of the world from like 20 years ago.
Yo Roland's been watching your channel -- check out the new ZR1 drum sampler in Zenbeats 3.0. Love and respect your work, thanks for your videos -- they're best out there in this space.
To be honest, this was a great concept, but was let down by the cheap feeling of the hardware and the iMPC app not quite being there. If it came out today with the current MPC software it would be a lot better, but there's no point really considering it wouldn't be much cheaper than the MPC One which is fully standalone
and you would think it might have been great on other apps... but from what people say, apparently you can't transpose, or switch the CC numbers for the pads. what a shame, since even the MPD16 could do that.
Could use this coming back in a way. Shame the MPC app lacks key features that could make it great, but then again they might not want to compete with themselves here! This is my theory as to why the app is nerfed. Still, this could be a darn near revolutionary thing with the power of newer iOS devices
i deleted the iMPC app because i liked other apps better... i sold my MPC 1000 because it just never got used , its too straight forward . i like the Novation Circuits , because sometimes you dont know what you will get when recording automation ... they can be experimental ... 6:27 you a fool for the spoons and shit LOL ....

Oh wow! Thats a good one..Gonna put that on the list.

i think in europe was named "MPC ELEMENT"
i think when they cancelled the fly, they re-used the mold to make the element (which is sold in NA as well)
I know the Element was very close to the fly..But it was a lil better as far as being able to be used as a general midi controller.
