That's funny this video shows up when I just won an eBay auction today for a mint Scarlett 8i6 Gen 3 for $113.90 + $13.60 shipping. Audio interfaces are so cheap! I didn't realize that in the '90s you had to choose between an audio interface and a car. Actually $5,000 is more than any car I owned in the '90s. This Apogee has 8 inputs + S/PDIF ... just like the MOTU UltraLite, which is easy to find under $200. 😁
that soft intro scared me. "he sounds different, doc got him on benzos?" glad to be wrong. this is a really interesting era of pro audio sound for me -- things were not quite all the way in the box, but everyone could see it was heading there. outboard converters like this could be plugged into digital mixers like yamaha 02r, or to ADAT or HD recorder like fostex D80 or D90. I'd love hearing more about recording gear from this era.
It feels weird that I remember walking around New York back then, it feels like last year. It was almost 30 years ago. There is a video I just saw, that if Martin McFly went back to the past as he did in the movie, he would land in 1994. I just got a new LCD display for my Ensoniq ASR-10, all my gear is from 30 years ago or more already.
Yup!..Nice find on the LCD..Amazing you have gear over 30 years old that still hold up today..And the sound of the ASR10 is legendary..Companies cant find or wont spend the money to buy the chips like they were using back then.
@@DyReckProductions What I like of the ASR is one effect. When you sample and want to create a loop, you have about 10 different cross-fade types. One of them is nuts because if you push it, it makes you sample sound like a scratching sound. Like when your AC belt is lose in your car? That same thing, but using the sample as a source. Amazing! Sounds super industrial, sounds diabolic when you do that with voices, like screams. THAT is the only reason I have the ASR. It is very good in everything else but that particular function is unique.
@@DyReckProductions Do a search for a Depeche Mode song called "I Feel You (Helmet At The Helm Mix)", the stretching sound at the beginning of the song and during the song is that exact effect from the ASR. And whatever sound you use, it sounds different.
Solid deli order. I'm always going for the bagel tho. I really did hit the deli every morning before getting on the train back in the day. Thank God I don't gotta do that anymore.

Kindergarten. 1997 I worked an a AMS Neve Logic 1. There where only 3 in Germany. 96kHz. One AD converter costs 5000,- And it always crashed. 1 Year later Protools came around. And the best postproduction Studio in Germany was quicker bankrupt than Speedy Gonzales is finding cheese. ;-)
The streets need that Roland MC-303 video
