  • Counterfeit knives are a growing problem that not only undermines the integrity of genuine products but also have a significant impact on the economy. These fake knives, often made in China, are nearly identical to their US-made counterparts and are sold at a fraction of the cost. However, these counterfeit knives are often made with inferior materials and construction, which can lead to dangerous situations and can put the lives of the users at risk.
    The production and sale of counterfeit knives not only harms the legitimate knife manufacturers and sellers but also harms the economy. It also creates an uneven playing field for legitimate businesses and can lead to lost sales and revenue for them.
    Consumers should be aware of the risks associated with purchasing counterfeit knives and take the necessary steps to ensure they are purchasing genuine products. This includes buying from reputable sellers, checking for signs of authenticity, such as holograms or serial numbers, and being wary of products that are priced significantly lower than the market price.
    As a society, we must take the issue of counterfeiting seriously. It's not just a matter of losing money, but also a matter of safety, and it's essential to support the legitimate businesses and companies, who invest in research, development and quality assurance.

    Most of the Kershaw and CRKT clones I come across are INCREDIBLY similar to the point where I would imagine they're selling stolen stock in some cases. I've seen loads of non-tapped clip screws holes and that's usually the best way to tell however I've come across more than I want to admit that are completely tapped and identical in every way. As a small business owner, I've had to entirely wash my hands of selling pre-owned knives made by the most popular brands because I just can't run the risk of having counterfeit items for sale in my shop AND I just don't have the time it takes to inspect knives beyond a quick once over... they way it used to be. Buy genuine, folks.

    US brands are undermining themselves by their absurd pricing. In Europe American knives are priced ridiculously. A simple, basic version of the Ontario RAT1 AUS8 costs 65 American dollars where I live.
    A D2 version will set me back 90 American dollars. I can buy a Chinese carbon fiber version for no more than 18 dollars. I have been using one for 4 years now. It is a fine knife.
    One of the few American brands that have a reasonable, normal price in Europe is Camillus. I own 5 original Camillus knives.
    Kershaw is somewhat affordable too. I have 10 or 11 original Kershaws.

      @@sdriza The point is, if you are going to make a fake, why not make a fake $200 knife instead of a fake $30 knife? Makes no sense!

    These ‘American’ brand knives are made in Taiwan. I have both the real and the fake and I’ve had them both about 5 years and the fake takes a real beating and is still a fantastic knife as it the real one. I also have a Ganzo , a very similar style knife with a different lock mechanism these are actually a quality knife. I’m Australian so I buy what’s available at a decent price.

    If it has a different logo and a different brand, it is a clone, not a copy or fake... then the buyer knows that it is not an original model. The point is, why couldn't I buy a clone? Do North American companies in general never make clones of German, Swiss or other parts of the world as well? ...a fake brand and logo I would never buy, but a clone that only copies the general design and takes its own brand and logo, why not? ...they are being transparent, they present you a similar design with another brand and logo, what is the problem? The buyer knows that they will be different materials, that is clear, the decision and the pocket are yours, don't you think? ...clones are not fraud, they are a choice

      When they market under trademarked names and models that's a copy/fake and the manufacturer can be sued by the trademark holder, not only that but it's extremely unethical and morally wrong because you're making a profit off of someone else's design and work and taking money out of them and their employees pockets

    • @cristianfuentes8202
      @cristianfuentes8202 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ksrebelbuck7936 I totally agree with that... however, if they do not use their logo or trademark I assume it is a clone, as happens with many items on the market, automobiles, airplanes, etc... China is characterized by falsifying products, from time to time From time to time they only clone or put another brand for something similar... I don't find the latter bad as long as they don't use the original brand.

      @@ksrebelbuck7936 That's why I said that a counterfeit is not the same as a clone... the counterfeit uses the original brand, the clone only uses the base design with another brand or without anything... all over the world they do it with airplanes, automobiles, etc... USA factories also do it and sometimes by force they have also removed designs from others.

      @@ksrebelbuck7936 If they take someone else's, it is clearly a fraud... but why should we choose (I say if the copy is good) the company if it manufactures abroad, like in this case Taiwan, China? ..maybe only companies can cheat and not the buyer? ...cheap labor in China, why should I pay more, just so the company earns more? ...no thanks... if they are manufactured in the USA I pay what I have to pay, but if the company sends manufacturing to another country, I buy whoever I want... you lead by example.
