Some forty years ago when I was thinking of buying a pellet gun and looking hard, I decided what I really wanted was an R7 but at that time being a family guy with many obligations I just could not justify the expense. Now retired and grandson got me to thinking about the R7 again. Found that they are still around and now I can justify the cost so have become the new owner of an R7. Came across your videos and subscribed. Like your style Kevin. Over the years I became a hunter and burned a lot of powder both black and smokeless. My situation now does not allow for any time to get out in the sneeze weeds to pop caps but I can manage a 10 meter range in my shop. The R7 and maybe a pistol will come and I can satisfy my urge to shoot and keep in practice to keep up with the grandson. Only wish it was in .22. Those .177 pills are hard for me to handle with my old fingers. I'll probably be looking for a decent .22 in the future. Best regards, Charlie
Thanks, Charlie, and congratulations on owning a fine air rifle. I'm so glad that you treated yourself to it. No doubt, you deserve it. You and I have much in common, my friend. Thanks so much for watching.

Love the HW30. I own almost every HW springer modell but the HW30 is the most easy one to shoot. Last week i got a second HW30 in .177 for my wife because all my other HW's are to heavy for her. I'm shooting upp till max. 30 meters with it and in my opinion the Hawke AirMax 2-7 is the best choice for this little rifle. I would recommend to buy the .177cal because i think it has to little power to be a .22. Thanks for showing Kevin and great shooting 👍😁 Enjoyed every second! Cheers!
Second that on the Airmax 2-7, Ron. Mind you the Vantage 14 211 is also very good the main difference is in the marked distances, illuminated reticle and FOV. Personally I simply prefer the AMX reticle, and rarely need the IR. 🤷🏼♂️

@@rapalaron6348That's just the way Weihrauch lists the data base. No difference really. Great little pistol. I heartily recommend the early Diana Mod. 6 with the original front hoop sight ad well ! Easiest, most accurate recoilless of the early target pistols. Unfortunately the newer models did away with the hoop sight. The early versions plastic grip frame had an excellent 👌 finely balanced T frame. These can usually be picked up quite inexpensively, and are the easiest of the GISS guns to work on. 😉👍
I love Weirauch springers. No matter which one you go for, whether it's the light and easy HW30 or the more serious and heavy-duty HW97 or 80, you're guaranteed some of the best quality and care. I currently have a HW95K, a HW99S (HW50 on your continent) and I recently picked up a HW35E which is absolutely beautiful.

You are correct ( of course ) the HW30 / Beeman R7 is an exceptional shooting rifle. I couldn't get ne with the wood stock, so I bought the Weihrauch with the 'polymer' stock. I am glad I did, as it is not a 'cheap plastic' stock at all. It's very solid feeling and no hollow sound to it. My HW30S is my all time favorite air rifle,... to date.
Some great shooting with a great rifle! Whenever you have R7/HW30 in the title I will always enjoy the vid. Your past vids on this rifle was one of the major influences for me to get one for myself. I am tempted by the HW97 and TX200, but I have a feeling I’ll end up with another HW30 before I add one of those “big boy” rifles.
The R7 is just a great little air rifle. I shoot iron sights on mine. My R9 is scoped for longer distances. The R7 is so easy to cock. Almost any average size person can enjoy it. I put a Hawke 2-7 AO scope on mine and it’s been a blast to shoot in the backyard at 23m where I’m getting 20mm (3/4 inch) groups with it as a very inexperienced shooter. Great video sir and great airgun! It's been my only air rifle so far and I've really enjoyed it. Just last week I posted my own video about how I think it's the perfect airgun for anyone just getting into the hobby. Your accuracy is inspiring, would you say any of the Hawke brand of air rifle scopes would be suitable for the HW30S? Any particular scope rings you'd recommend? Installing that Vortek kit in a 22 might be interesting if I can ever find the rifle in that calibre. Thank you again for the interesting content.
Great video, thank you! I recently became the proud owner of a new HW30S and I am considering installing a Hawke scope. What rings did you used to mount the Hawke scope you have on yours and is the scope a 4-12X40?
You nailed it, Tim. That's the scope. As far as the rings go, I typically use the inexpensive Chinese mounts and rings unless I run into one that won't stay put. However, I confess that there aren't enough cases to go around, so some are stored uncased. Don't worry too much about dust. It can be wiped or even blown off. @@razor1962 thank you for the reply. What do you treat the wood furniture with? If any treatment other that, let's say our oily hands from the balistol handling on all the metal.
@damacknificent151 I usually just wipe the stock down with a soft, dry cloth. Stocks with a more open grain, like the AirArms TX200 in walnut, can benefit from the application of a good paste wax. Butchers wax comes to mind, but any other quality brand of paste wax (usually for hardwood floors) ought to be fine. Hope this helps...
Another great video! Kevin I have 3 break barrel rilfes, they're about 6 years old. I use only one of them the most. I am worried that the pison seals, etc... are going to dry out. What do you suggets as far as carrying and oiling to keep them in good shape?
I use 1 drop of Abbey SM50 directly in the breech port once every 6 mos. to a year even. But shake it up well and use an oiling needle. We're talking 1 tiny little drop ! ☝️🤨 Just cock the rifle, put it in, let it set for a few hours or overnight, and then fire 8 or 10 Crosman Premier heavies to clear the pipes. This will lube the chamber, seal, and barrel just fine. But DO make sure to shake it well, and definitely use an oiling needle. This is the replacement item for Beeman's UltraLube. 😉👍
Can depend on the type and brand of pellets your shooting. FTT's tend to shoot pretty clean. Crosman Premier's tend to foul a barrel allot quicker. 🤷🏼♂️

Rem-oil or Ballistol for gun metal, and silicone gun cloth for the stock... 🤷🏼♂️
Listen to Marc. He knows his stuff.
@@marcmyers1465 Thank you, I will do that. I Appreciate the feedback!
How often do you clean the barrel on your spring guns?
I only clean them if I notice a change in the accuracy.
Can depend on the type and brand of pellets your shooting. FTT's tend to shoot pretty clean. Crosman Premier's tend to foul a barrel allot quicker. 🤷🏼♂️
