If your tools earn you your living then absolutely you should spend the extra on the top tier stuff. You'd be foolish not to!
For people like me though, the light use home DIYer the green tools are just fine.
Great video Vince! I do realize that this is an older video and maybe you already got this tidbit from someone else or learned it yourself; but that drywall gun, just like the corded predecessor, has a lock for the trigger. The pressure sensor in that gun was designed to be used in combination with the trigger lock so that your hand can remain near the top of the gun, inline with the screws you are driving. This is purposefully designed into ALL drywall guns so that you don't tweek your wrist from the repeated pressure of driving the screws in.

I agree with the assessment on the screw gun. However, did you notice what we have been telling you about the direction of cut with the rotation on the bit on the router? When you made the first cut, when you started from the top right, moved left and then down, you were slower and had to go back when there was kick out. Compare that to the second cut, when you started at the left, traveled right and down. That cut was faster and smoother and no kick out. So movement direction is necessary, start on the bottom left, move up, turn right, cross top, turn down and you'll have a faster and cleaner cut.

I find it hilarious you're still pulling the trigger rather than just putting the built in lock on. Makes the ergonomics better.
so when you use the built in lock, it holds the trigger down and the motor will kick in once it senses pressure on the bit?
Idk why. I still press the trigger as well lol.

I bought a 3 pack Milwaukee kit, impact driver, hammer drill and reciprocal saw. I charged the 2 batteries that the kit came with. Haven't used any of them yet, but I'm excited.
I build these produce stand holders, I designed in my dreams, made it happen. Made 2. Gave one to the teacher I work with and one for myself. I love the design and idea bc I put plastic baskets ($tree) on hooks and you can remove the baskets. Easy clean up. If anything goes bad, you just remove, wash and replace. I wish I could share a photo. But needed an impact driver that can go through the thick wood of the stand. Wish me luck. I plan on selling them at flea markets and arts and crafts venues. Plus, I'll dabble in other things, too.
I want to build a chicken coop and raise chickens. Wish me more luck. Maybe start with a dog house. I'm hoping to adopt a German Shepherd from the humane society. Awaiting their approval, wish me luck.

Hey, do you think I cut into the ground with the reciprocal saw to kill the roots of a tree growing funky in the ground in front of my porch?
Replant the tree to better location?
I don't gave a truck to pull the tree out if the ground. It's a young tree. Not higher than 4-5 tall. Not very round, maybe 10"in diameter, if even.
Nice job Vince I really like that screw gun too. All my electric guns are basically obsolete. Nobody wants cords around anymore. And I always hated that continuous running screw gun and the screechy sound it always made. Thanks brother!!!!

I have the Dewalt screw gun and I just love the screw guns in general… I work for a general contracting company, and most of the workers there are painfully slow at installing Sheetrock… I usually prefer to install Sheetrock by either myself or someone new since the new guy won’t argue and that means I can get him to either hold the Sheetrock in place or screw in the Sheetrock while I do the cutting 😂

Good tip for that thing that I like. You can put it in auto & lock the trigger on too with that little switch. Then you don’t even have to hold the trigger to use auto. Just hold the gun and it goes when you push it.

I suspect they’ll stop giving us the option for replacing with a matrix carbide eventually sadly

You bet
You have a sliding trigger lock just below the trigger so you don’t have to hold down the trigger either. That trigger lock will do it for you. Just slide it up while you hold down the trigger, than release the trigger and the lock will keep the trigger depressed.
He covered that in the video.
If you screw into the very corner and go through all the metal it can pull out the metal and make a gap if you aren’t using the right screws just go to one side and screw into the bottom track
I use the M12 rotary tool instead of the M18 cut out tool, it's lighter, fits in the hand better and you can use it one handed.
You gotta put the Milwaukee up against the DeWalt dry wall gun

I’ve noticed that the Milwaukee spins too fast on the thinner cheaper studs. Doesn’t grab sometimes. It’d be nice to be able to slow down the rpm. The gun also stalls/ freezes when driving screws into dense wood. I was using a 5 ah battery and got a 6 high output and now it rarely ever stalls. Only had the gun for about half a year. Don’t think it should need a big ass battery to work how it’s supposed to but maybe a CP 3 will do the job too

mactownrox trying to hang a whole ceiling while slowly putting the screws in is a big downer. Just adds something extra to do while doing your job. Does this happen to anyone else ?
@@scremingwhisper1720 I think when it comes to ergonomics, it is easier to pull the trigger on full than trying to get the rpm perfect. What it needs is a variable speeed dial if that's the case

@ Ed 300srt-8 26 years in all commercial construction here and I have never seen glue used either. My first thought was I wonder if anyone in comments said anything 😂
Same here in Canada, never have I seen any adhesive being used to hold drywall on steel. Maybe nails on steel next? Lol

It also helps from drafts or oxygen flow incase of fire. And in some places its code.

Great video as always. I just can't understand why you are using self tapping screws to fasten the stud to the rail? It creates a high spot which will of course lift up the corner of your drywall. Why do you not use the framing tool to fasten them together? I can't find how to put a photo on here but the Stanley tool you might be able to get over there is 1-69-100. Keep up the great work.
We haven't crimped a stud in 20 years , the board will compress and lay flat against the stud.
We use a lot of 18ga studs and attach with #10 - 3/4 " hex screws per plans, the too will pull down and flush out.
I got a drywall gun this year. It was a toss up between the Milwaukee and the Bosch. I went with the bosch in the end as it it lighter, cheaper and has better ergonomics imo. I do like the auto start feature of the milwaukee though.
The Bosch is cordless and doesn’t have the auto start feature?
@@VCGConstruction Nope, it's got a trigger lock that locks the motor on, but not one that is linked to pressing the nose. The thing I love about the bosch is the body is tiny. Would love to see a head to head comparison with the Fuel.
You should track down some self tapping. Saves that little bit of time it takes to pierce the stud. Even on those really crappy thin gauge studs it helps.
First person I have ever seen looking for plumb.
I bought the set with the cut out tool and the gun. I generally like the cut out tool, but the gun has not held up. If you take the cone on and off a lot like I do the cheap plastic head that it attaches too eventually wears down and the whole thing becomes loose. I replaced it with the Makita that has an all metal head and have not had that issue.
I still like my Hilti corded screw gun but I would like to give that Milwaukee a shot. The carbide bits are great for drywall but way to brittle for concrete fasteners.

So what’s the best ph#2 for 14-16 heavy gauge steel framing? Especially when it’s multiple layers of steel framing? (Screws we use are SP mod truss head) breaking Phillip head tips is very common in my field of work.
I’m not a Sheetrock guy (I’m a lead framer) but I want that screwgun and cut out tool! #milwaukeeforlife
id love a recommendation for this... framing with 16g studs and #12 panhead self tappers, id love to find a bit i can just run no worries and not have to feather in towards the end to prevent snapping

Vince give the Makita XPS bits a try, I like them better than the Shockwave.
He has the xps bits he's done a review on them and prefers them over Shockwave

I still have all my dewalt guns all plug in .... i would like to try one of the cordless ones....to see how fast it was compared to old school.... seems like the plug in guns spin way faster.. Is the video about a Milwaukee drywall gun or your best drywall bit ? rule of fact is when fixing a screw into drywall dont break the paper.. Dewalt and Makita are generally better than Milwaukee, Hilti are great and last longer but always heavy and cost twice as much.. regards mick.

What is a really strong Phillip screwdriver bit to use in heavy gauge metal stud framing, I have been using dewalt, milwaukee, makita , and several other brand but they don't last long enough doing the job , usually break really fast... what you guys out there would recommend?
RUN sel drilling screws , we Frame with #10- 3/4 hex and fling board with 1 1/4 self taping
All we frame with is 18gauge

Thinking of getting the screw gun but 4500 rpm is to fast for wood framing, so sticking with my Mikita for now till Milwaukee comes out with a screw gun around 4000 rpm or less. Yes I know it has a variable trigger, but doing that to slow down the speed will eliminate the automatic trigger on feature.

Interesting cause you used to hate in Milwaukee lol.. once you use Milwaukee you ever go back.. if for no other reason the 5 year warranty is second to none.. I’ve yet to have a battery not even last 5-6 years... I’m just now getting fuel tools cause my original Milwaukee’s just refused to die!

I have a quick question. I am starting to get into the construction field of work. I am in the market to buy some new power tools. I was looking into buying a combo kit with about 6 to 10 ( or more) tools would like to get majority of them in one purchase. I want to spend under $1000. I have had Dewalt in the past but keep hearing from all our crews and amish crew that they pick Milwaukee. What do you guys recommend?

Fyi your rocking wall from wrong side. The first sheet you stand up should ALWAYS be on soft side of stud first then hard next sheet!! (Steel stud walls)

I have never had any luck with Milwaukee tools.
I tried to replace brushes in a Milwaukee drywall gun and the who armature just fell apart.

VCG Construction you should! That’s what I use every day and with their strips it makes screwing off way faster. And the tools are very tough.
