There are certain spots in London where the animals have become used enough to humans to feed out of your hand -a certain railing and certain fenced garden in Kensington Gardens, and a spot by a statue of a dog in Battersea Park. Pigeons, squirrels, sparrows and the parakeets, the latter of which there are tens of thousands now in the city after escaping last century. In most of the ponds the Canada geese, mallards and swans will eat out of your hand too. It takes a lifetime to find these spots.

Yes, we did! We were a lil worried about the record high heat but it didn’t disrupt our trip at all. ⛲️

😁 believe it or not, we actually made this trip happen on a reasonable budget. We heavily utilize CC bonuses and miles/points accrued thru the years.

@@FamilyFieldTrips OK. I believe you. I'll be down in the West End later - I'll pop into the Trafalgar hotel and see what the room rate is :)

One of the stories as to how the rose-ringed parakeet came to be in London is because they escaped from their owner Jimi Hendrix when he was living in London. It has been suggested that feral parrots could endanger populations of native British birds, and that the rose-ringed parakeet should be "limited", although this is not currently recommended by conservation organisations. Considered a major agricultural pest in locations such as India, as of 2011 the rose-ringed parakeet population was growing rapidly, but is generally limited to urban areas in southern England.
In the United Kingdom and especially within London, parakeets face predation by native birds of prey and owls, including the peregrine falcon, Eurasian hobby and tawny owl. Wikipedia.

No way! Thanks for that bit of history. We had no idea they were there but just stumbled upon while walking thru Hyde Park. Turned out to be a really special moment for us🦜
