As an Englishman, you made me smile by your references to " the Buckingham Palace" , "the Big Ben" "The Kensington Gardens". We refer to them simply as Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Kensington Palace. Without the definite article. Nice video.
Haha good to know! I always just pictured them with a "the" in the beginning!
He should have gone to The Museums and The Galleries and The Houses of Parliament.
You didn’t see Big Ben, it’s a bell inside the Elizabeth tower.
Give him a break @@philamato9583
Many English people normally start to eat Sunday dinner between 2pm and 3pm. London is much larger than New York but the buildings are lower and there are more open spaces. There are 4 parks in London that are larger than Central Park, the largest being 8 times the size of Central Park, this doesn't include Colne Valley which is only part inside London and is 18 times the size of Central Park.
Any palace, and Big Ben ( Elizabeth Tower) is a palace is definitely real gold, any gold you see at famous places is pure 24K gold, the Royal family own the 3rd largest amount of gold of any individual family in the world ❤❤❤❤❤
Good to know!
@@LoganHarrisit's 24 carat leaf not solid gold
So pleased you enjoyed London but if you ever get another chance to visit the U.K. for at least 2 weeks
you must travel away from London because we have some fantastic sights for you to enjoy which would give you a better example of how lovely this country really is, plus the prices are far better than London.
Although you may not be a history buff, I believe you would be impressed by our history and traditions.
Visiting more of the UK is definitely our plan! We just weren’t able to this time cause we wanted to get all the way to Rome in two weeks!
@@LoganHarris , any favorite books or films etc based in the UK are there to see , there are lots of posts by Americans on TH-cam telling you the best places to go and how .
Don't forget that the UK is the same size as Alabama but were as the population in Alabama is 6m it's 67m in the UK ( the UK fits into the USA 40 times ) and so most of the land was owned before the English started to go to the 13 colonies , hence the smaller roads ( bendy so you have to concentrate 😂 ) and smaller housing etc etc
Scotland is a must, where were you eating in London it has amazing food. Our beans are tomato based and not that sweet but i do add a blob of marmite malted in. Portugal does the best coffee mainly expresso. London is bigger than New York.
I only ever eat in McDonald's, I wouldn't trust any where else.@@gabbymcclymont3563
Outside of London is going to be a disappointment, the further North you go the worse it gets. Scotland is nice but avoid Glasgow. You will struggle to understand the Scottish accent.@@LoganHarris
Glad it worked out for you thanks for visiting us.
We had a great time!
Big Ben was recently renovated, which is why the top looks brighter and more golden than old photos you’d see.
Oh good to know! I didn’t know that, thanks.
"London was, like, a kind of, like, mini New York" 😂😂😂 You do realise London is over twice the size of NY? - By the way, 4 years in London wouldn't be enough time to see everything so, 4 days?
Yeah never been to NY I just figured it was bigger cause it seemed like it lol. Unfortunately can’t take things back on a YT video. And yeah only 4 days cause we only get so many vacation days a year and we had other cities to see as well. Doesn’t mean we won’t be back!
BUT New York definitely has more people more square kilometer so that can play a factor into it feeling bigger
@@LoganHarris About the same actually - 8.something million people
Most of us get 3 and a half weeks paid holidays which can take any time,hassle-free from the boss,it is a right not a hindrance to the company we work for because they consider the work/life balance to be very important to happy workers.
Happy workers = productive workers.@@LoganHarris
@@geoffmelvin6012 Correct but I’m saying London has more square kilometers so people are more spread out than in NY
Terrific video. We spend about a week in London sept 2018. Loved our trip with friends who lived there. Hard to see everything but they brought us to two great restaurants, Giuseppe’s Italian Restaurante and The Crypt. One of the Best memories of trip. I can’t believe you didn’t go up in the London Eye. What an absolute ride that was, great views at top and went nice and slow for photos
Waaaaay too scared of heights for the London Eye 😅 Enjoyed looking at it from the ground. Glad you enjoyed the video!
The black guy im the donuts store makes me instanstly smile ! ❤
He was our favorite!!
Shocked you couldn’t find much other than beer to drink. Typically we have a vast array of options & now even many non alcoholic versions of beers/wines/spirits too.
And Sunday ‘dinner’ is typically served in the daytime. So, midday til 4. You were lucky ti find one as late as 6pm.
They probably thought that they had found the best cider in the world ( and it is so why waste time ) as a lot of Americans and other tourist do find out
We were able to find other drinks than beer! We just noticed that beer is a very prominent drink in London compared to other drinks.
What a great video. Really well put together. I'm really glad you enjoyed your trip. I'm from Durham in the north east of England but I do love visiting London. With reference to the driving I guess in Europe the roads are just more crowded as we have less space. Our road safety figures in terms of deaths and injuries of both people in cars and pedestrians are much better than in the USA, however.
Thanks for the kind words! We loved visiting!!
What is the name of the Airbnb you stayed at in London? I cannot find it in the description. Thank you.
My bad! I just added it to the top of my description
You said 'mini New York? It's twice the size of NY! Glad you enjoyed your trip 😊
London is twice the size of New York, kinda surprised you didn't know this .
I’ve never been to NY. It just seemed bigger
It’s definitely not, feel free to google it. NY is not just manhattan and London is not just zone 1 and 2.
Surprising that your beverage choices seemed limited to beer; usually, we have an extensive range, including non-alcoholic options for beers, wines, and spirits. Additionally, Sunday 'dinner' is typically a midday affair, from around noon until 4 pm. It's fortunate that you found a place serving as late as 6 pm. Luck played a role there. By the way, for convenient parking, you might want to consider Express Parking options for your next visit.
We did find other options than beer, I was just saying that beer seemed to be the most popular drink. Also, we didn't have a car so parking wasn't an issue.
@@LoganHarris OK . Now I Got Your Problem Buddy. Thank You For Reponse.
Thank you so much very helpful
You're welcome!!
To say you rated London food at the bottom, you sure liked a lot of it(!) lol. x
Which is why I didn't give it a zero lol
@@LoganHarris Haha. Yes - save all the zeros for American food(!) xx
@@LoganHarris You really need to do some research on the best places to eat before coming to London. The food in areas catering for tourists can be disappointing. But overall the food in London is some of the best and most varied in Europe.
Hello ,Thxs for the video -traveling from San Antonio TX to London &Paris in December ,Ill use Apple wallet for transportation in London then get the Navigo Easy card for Paris transportation easy to ride trains and buses plus e-sim card for each city ps. New York is just like London ..thxs again I’ll check out some of those places u enjoyed 😂
Glad you enjoyed it! Have so much fun! I’m jealous you’ll get to see London during Christmas time!
I was somewhat bemused by you prefixing tourist sights with 'The'. It's just Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower Bridge etc. And the big church alongside Big Ben was Westminster Abbey not Westminster Chapel.
Honestly didn't even realize I was doing that. My bad! I've heard other people say use 'the' as well.
@@LoganHarris Just to confuse further then, there are a few of our tourist attractions that do have 'The' starting their name - The British Museum, The Tower of London, The London Zoo etc so a forgivable faux pas.
@@LoganHarris Big Ben is the largest bell inside the tower. Its proper name is the Elizabeth Tower.
It's a quirk of American English. They often tend to apply the definite article in situations where we wouldn't.
If you were blown away by Liberty, you should have tried the American founded Selfridges and then the 1.1m square feet of Harrods.
Great video
Thank you!!
Great video.xx
Thank you!! ❤️
Did you try Harrods? If not be sure to catch it next visit, particularly the food hall.
No we didn’t!
@@LoganHarris Also the book shop near Fortnum & Mason: Waterstones. Something like 6 storeys of books, maps, stationery, puzzles games & magazines., 2 cafes & a restaurant/bar.
So cool ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!! ☺️
We may seem to drive closer but road death statistics in uk are substantially better than USA with deaths per 100,000 population in UK being 2.9 whilst in the USA the rate is 12.9
True! I wasn't necessarily trying to imply it was more dangerous, I was just stating it was a bit of a shock how closely everyone drove but we were still safe!
😍😍😍😍
The only connection between Peter Pan and the Disney movie is the title. 🙄
How far is from Central London to the Tate
Museum?
That was an enjoyable video. I think you presented and commentated very well. I would like to ask some of my fellow Brits to wind their necks in ... some of the comments sound crass and big headed. This was his first visit to the UK ... of course there will be errors and mistakes but that's why people travel ... to find out. Be thankful that people wish to visit the UK and be patient with observations and remarks that don't accord with your own. London has some great places but it also has some seriously sh*t places. I love London, warts & all. Just be courteous to our visitors because several on here sound like the biggest bores in town.
Thank you! I try to disclaim that this was completely and solely my experience and not anyone else’s! I’m not going to lie about my experience. I’m going to give the complete and honest truth on what I experienced.
It's the same when visiting your cities.
What exactly?
A MINI! New York are you sure ?
After analyzing both cities, yes London is bigger but NY has more people crammed into a smaller area so it just feels bigger sometimes.
While Libertys is great, its TINY! Its more a specialty store but not a go to department store like Selfridges or Harrods
Lol it didn’t feel tiny to us!
@@LoganHarris It is relatively small in comparison to places like Harrods, which truly is massive. Unlike Liberty's which specialises in designer goods and high end fashion, Harrods tries to sell everything. Including an elephant for one customer in the past!
In the UK they will treat you with suspicion if you don't like beer, buy it and pretend to like it.
🤣🍻Cheers.
I would rather be judged than to drink beer personally. Never liked it and never will lol
@@LoganHarris Steve was joking, whilst all the specialist beers are popular, most women drink wine or cocktails.
You gave the food in London a 6.5 but then proceeded to show and tell us how nice it was, including the english breakfast, asian food, desserts and the coffee? Each to their own but seems you couldn't shift the stereotype of the UK having bad food.
@@LukeCaddyUK Did have good food but it wasn’t all a 10/10 experience.
In terms of crowds London can be hugely overcrowded -imagine a larger population than NYC but with fewer highrises to inhabit and 50,000 protected buildings to dodge, plus massive areas dedicated to parkland -the greenest city of its size in the world (it technically counts as woodland as more than 40% is green space, creating 21% tree cover). If you read between the lines this means less than half the city's area hosts its population, with more in public areas -some districts hold daytime capacities of 600,000 per sq mile by day, falling to 3,000 by night, and other areas vice versa. Thus Brits and Londoners endure the smallest average housing in the West (smaller than even the Japanese enjoy), despite the 'low' density skewed by the parkland. Overall a city designed for 6.6 million Victorians -from street widths to tunnel / carriage sizes, from sewage capacity to height regulations -but now hosting 9.7 million and growing by over 100,000 a year.
Why did these two come to london im baffled
@@NickCrane-v5h The same reason anyone travels?
NOOOO! I was cringing at your food choices. Pubs aren't known for good food. That Sunday Roast looked terrible :(
You were staying around the corner from Dishoom - One of my favourite Indian restaurants!
And of all the great things to get at Borough Mkt, that sandwich looked dry.
I would say pubs definitely focus on drinks beyond beers - Cider is one of the most popular drinks, along with Gin and Whiskey. (Then of course other spirits. They will have Happy Hours dedicated to Cocktails)
I used to live in London for 4 years and still miss it. So thanks for the video..
Shame about the food but glad you had a good trip overall and have plans to travel to other countries in the future :)
Dishoom was impossible to get into. It’s way too popular lol! My wife’s sunday roast was really good though!
Disagree about pub food. Most UK pubs serving food have professional chefs and serve a great range of food. However, being in a tourist trap like central London, a lot of establishments serve "traditional" food which is bad and stupidly over priced.
Pubs generally do great food, more traditional mostly, but great quality and choice
londons like a mini new york lol
LONDON is over twice the size of New York I believe
The other way around - NYC is a mini London. As London is 1,000 years older and is double the size. LOL
I have lived in both and think London is better to live.
It kinda felt that way lol!
A comment from the stable of ‘We saved your asses in WW2’ I fear, i.e. utterly untrue. Or simple condescension.
@@johnkemp8904 ??? What?
Good video but you need to remember the information better as you tell it. Thanks
London was a MINI New York? You're having a laugh! You do realise that you were visiting what has been, for centuries, the Capital of the World?
London is bigger than New York 😂
Was it cool?
I’m pretty sure this 40 minute vlog answers this question 😂
Mini NY????? LONDON is bigger than you think, i think its bigger than NY. So loose the mini. Liberties is extreamlynfamous they were huge for Arts and Crafts around 1900 also the war mamorial in the shop for staf lost in the First WW is ponyant, sorry im dyslexic. I love just walking around my brother has a flat near Tower Bridge, Shad Themes is stunning just of the bridge on the south side.
Sunday roast BEEF, BEEF, BEEF is a must for first try, with Horse Raddish.
I misspoke. New York has more people per square mile so it makes it seem bigger. But landscape wise, London is larger
Yep half of one etc. Love your vids, thank you.@@LoganHarris
Yep half of one etc. Love your vids, thank you.@@LoganHarris
I know you were only in London for 4 days, but - food last on the list?? You really didn't have time to explore the culinary delights of London. It's a huge city wth 73 michelin star restaurants and food from all corners of the globe reflecting its massive immigrant population. It seemed you opted for some touristy pubs with 'traditional English fare' which is okay but not really representitive of London. Next time try Borough Market, the Camden Lock area, Whitechapel for Indian food or Soho for great Chinese etc. I'm betting you wouldn't find this variation in the other European cities you visited.
This again was my experience and I wouldn't lie about my experience. In the video, it shows I did go to the Borough Market and got some fish n chips. I also am not the biggest fan of Indian food.
@@LoganHarris British food has improved massively since the 1950/60s when to be honest it was pretty dreadful. There has been a massive culinary boom over the decades since, so now it has some of the best and most varied foods in Europe. And with people coming to live here from every country on earth and 300 languages spoken in London, you can sample the cuisine of nearly every culture on the planet!
Almost everyone in England speaks American, I think they all learn it at School. I believe the American Constitution and federal laws also apply in the UK, at least to American citizens.
I hope people realise you're being ironic. I have actually heard stories of Americans believing American laws apply to them even when they're abroad.
But it's only half a joke about us speaking 'American'. There are differences in vocabulary and structures between UK English and USA English and the British are usually much better at understanding Americans than vice versa. This is because so many films and TV series come from the USA so we just grow up hearing American English a lot.
THE White house
So you make a video about transportation in London and neglect to mention Taxis !!!
Lol we didn't take any taxis, but I think it's pretty well known that London has taxis so I didn't feel like I had to mention that part.
@@LoganHarris They are a lot better than Uber and the driver has to do a training course lasting several years before they can get a licence. Also most taxi drivers will be happy to talk to you and will give a running commentary on the history of the area you are passing through.
There are many wonderful places to visit in the UK and they are far superior to London. London is a cliche. I hate it.
I loved London. But I’ll make it back to the UK someday to hit up the less cliche parts!
You went to the wrong places
