In case you didn't know you can go into the Buckingham palace state rooms in the summer, I think it's a bit expensive but worth it if you're interested in the history.
The “British bad food” rumour was started by American servicemen stationed here when food rationing was in full swing! Thank you very much for reversing this misconception 🙏
America literally doesn't have Halal food so as a Muslim person one's only options are to give up their faith or starve. Imagine having the gall to come from such a shithole and criticising other people's food.
@@FnAVanLife The original London Bridge, not far from the new London Bridge, originally had shops and houses on it. The buttresses were close together and caused a very fast water flow. Earlier bridges would have a hard time standing against that.
Been watching this series since episode one in the uk.. to see Americans truly embrace England and our vast amounts of cultures and not just try stereotype how England would be is so refreshing to see. Absolutely loving seeing all 3 of you grow from the experience and learning just how different England is to what is portrayed in American movies
Hi the King doesn’t live in Buckingham Palace. It’s used as a office now. He and the Queen live in Clarence House. Which is you would of passed halfway down The Mall. When walking towards Buckingham Palace. Also you passed the church opposite the Tower of London. All hallows by the Tower. This is where John Quincy Adams Us President married his wife Louisa. He was the USA ambassador at the time. It’s the oldest church in the city of London.
As a Londoner I’m not sure why so many tourists consider Leicester Square an attraction. It’s somewhere best avoided in my opinion, like Oxford Street (except for Selfridges).
The best comment on Leicester Square I heard, was one from a comedy series some years ago. The observation was that if 'A nightingale sang in Leicester Square' - one of bums who hang out there would eat it.
@@captaincorky237I've been one of those 'bums'. Pigeon tastes like shit, if there were nightingales I'm sure they would too. And it was Berkeley square, where the Nightingale sang. Another proof of your ignorance
If you are doing it with a baby, you should always navigate from museum to museum. The toilets and baby change facilities in most of the museums are excellent and are free. I especially recommend those in the British Library (a must for any literature lovers)...

Talk about uncomfortable though and a good way to wear yourself out. My daughter was a very good baby, it was nothing to do with being strapped to a parent.
Don’t believe that UK bad food thing, it came from when GI’s were over here in WW2 and there was food rationing. London is a major international food destination for home grown and beyond!
Your baby is ridiculously adorable!! Well done for travelling with her. We always travelled with our kids even when they were little. People used to be split. Half thought we were insane and irresponsible and half thought it was great. It takes a lot of careful planning but our children grew up well travelled and broad minded. I was born anf raised in London (soutb east London). I moved to the coast 10 years ago, and I have severe back problems, would love to walk around my home town again but the pain would be too much for me. To see you walking around was great, I often used to take my kids into central london when they were small for a trip out so I was a little teary watching this (happy tears of course). I was a single mum in those days and to watch you playing with your little baby filled my heart with joy, so forgive you for calling Tower Bridge London Bridge😂. My favourite place of all to take them was Greenwich (south of the river) , there are so many green spaces in London but Greenwich is really special, you can take the River bus to get there. Glad you enjoyed it there, London has a negative rep sometimes, but the old city is quiet magical❤
You can explore any of the 33 Boroughs if you want to avoid the busy central London. Some of the towns in London have nice parks to relax and offer a quieter pace of life/walking then in the tourist areas
theres now lifts to platforms in many tube stations and theres a policy to enable disabled people to get to platforms and onto trains now So you can still get about via wheelchair and mobility scooter
Excellent fast tour of London, but relaxed enough to be enjoyable. I've lived in the UK on and off for 20 plus years and worked in London for half of that. There is still plenty for me to find and your approach is the way to do it.

One explanation (and there are a few) for the song about "London Bridge is falling down" is because the businesses _on_ the bridge paid a fee for maintenance. However, the King at the time (Henry III) gave the revenues to his consort and she spent the monies on fripperies instead of on maintenance. But there are plenty of songs about dilapidated bridges all around Europe - it seemed to be a common theme. There have been several London Bridges of timber from Roman times, stone (medieval and later) and now concrete. The latest is definitely not the prettiest!
I took my (Chinese) wife on the London Eye on her first trip to London 10 years ago, it was not as expensive as you quoted, I booked the tickets in advance and pre paid just the day rather than a specific time. That day it was misty in the morning, so we did it in the afternoon :) I planned the day to visit as many of the most famous landmarks as possible using the Tube to do most of the work, the day ended after crossing the Millennium bridge and finding that the riverboats had stopped for the day.

I remember many years ago sitting with a lovely American on a train on route to London we had a lovely conversation she had an impressive camera and had been photographing our historic buildings and said "back home we pull down most of our historic buildings with no thought"
That is probably true about pulling down historical building, but I'm sure there is thought behind it. It might not be the correct decision to take them down, but it might be for profit. It takes a bunch of thoughts just to plan on how to bring the building down. It is a lot of money to restore old buildings, at least in NYC, due to codes and regulations. It also has to be approved to be removed. It's very cool getting to have that take on the train with someone from a different country. 😀

It always surprises me that someone new to London will always find almost everything exciting, whereas as most of us take it for granted and, to be honest, pay little attention to what we have. I and my wife spent a week in central London and I was amazed at her reaction, she pointed out things I had noticed but really paid no attention to. Really the museums are the best, the Science Museum (Where I had to be dragged out), the London Museum (so so), the Victoria and Albert Museum (Again so so), the Imperial War Museum (Again I had to be dragged out), the Natural history Museum, the tower of London etc, etc. Central London is easy to walk around, but you will be doing a lot of walking.
Suggest the victoria and albert museum too - fantastic restaurant on the ground floor. and the Natural history museum for children. Liberty's store is also a dream.
London Borough market is fantastic. Lovely to see the advert in the Tube for Abba Voyage. Heading back over for my 5th visit to it at the end of January and the 6th in August. Must fit London Borough Market in when I am over. Nyom nyom.

Been up Sky Garden a couple of times and it provides some really lovely views of the city if you can get up there! For free admission, it's not a bad spot to explore.
I’ve gotta be honest … after you titled Tower Bridge as London Bridge it did kinda make me smile 😂 And now you know why the original London Bridge is over in the US somewhere after a very wealthy American thought he was buying Tower Bridge! 🤣 There’s SO MUCH cool’s stuff for you to go back to London before flying home … we have all the museums, and I’m REALLY surprised you didn’t go to Camden, home of the late great Amy Winehouse and Camden market itself is just like nothing you’ve ever seen. One of the things that got me smiling is that you were less than 20 miles from Pinewood Studios … and there’s a whole Harry Potter world there! Back to the Hogroasts … they’ve been around for literally 100’s of years … so are kind of a traditional British dish … but you NEED one that’s going round and round on a spit roasting it, as a pose to a joint of pork going in a conventional oven, the taste between a bit of roast pork made in a cooker to a genuine spit roast Hog roast is night and day! Genuinely hop you get to try this buddy … it is just THE most awesome food you’ll ever put in your mouth! 🤣🤣
Odd how often visitors repeat the old chestnut about London being Rainy. It’s not. It might seem that way if you normally live in a desert but New York City gets more than double the rainfall London has. And I’ve never heard NYC described as “Rainy”.
New York City is also much more sunny than London, and that is why it doesn't get a rainy reputation. Even though NYC gets about double the amount of rain more than London.
@FnAVanLife and remember Miami gets more rain than London ..as there are more rainy days in Miami (at 135) and Orlando, Florida (117) than there are in London.
A good place for a baby is John Lewis in Oxford Street, they have a large cafe on the 5th floor with a balcony so you can sit overlooking Oxford Street. They also have a microwave so you can heat up milk and baby food. There is also a Waitrose supermarket in the basement, so you can buy food and baby food.
Tower Bridge- it breaks in the middle for shipping, so it has to flex. Also it's older than most things in the US. Nothing to stop you drinking with a baby in tow in the UK, unless the Sky Garden has strange rules.
At 15:00 when you three stopped to eat and were sitting in Princes Circus at the end of Shaftesbury Avenue, I’m sure those pastries you purchased from the coffee house were lovely, but literally two doors along was Arancino of Italy which sell arguably the best Arancini in London (they say outside of Sicily, who am I to disagree). Also, nobody uses paper tickets or daily travelcards to use public transport in London anymore - either a contactless bank card, apple/googlepay on the phone or an oystercard you load up with funds. Journeys within say zones 1-2 are charged individually but are capped at a max of £8.50, whereas a daily 1-4 anytime travelcard costs £15.90.
Hi Guys. First time watching your vids. As to going down the escalator. The way you're going up do the same going down but have the pram/ stroller behind you just hold the handle higher as you can imagine. Xxx
The Sky Garden entry is stricter after 6pm as it becomes more club-ie, with DJs and music and a dress code, someone in the queue when I went was refused entry because of his shorts and trainers, the outdoor terrace also shuts after 6pm.
Funny looking at the city I grew up in, but everything changes, right? If you get to visit again then the boat trip down to Greenwich is well worth it. A tour through England's naval history. The museum in one of England's nicest (in my view) palaces is full of ships' models, and of course the gorgeous clipper ship Cutty Sark. Then a trip up the hill to the Greenwich Observatory. The Greenwich timeline and the way that exact midday was communicated to a fleet that stretched from Deptford to the NW, down through Woolwich reach SW of you. Also a tour through Greenwich park. So many possible treats in an area with such a rich history. Don't know if it's still there but at the bottom gate to the park there was a pub where you sang sea shanties in the evening with the whole pub joining in.
Haha I was wondering why you were calling Tower bridge that, the original London bridge is actually in America Arizona, it was bought to be a tourist attraction.
@Cal-q1w ...exactly...until social media came along they probably always called it Big Ben but now they think there being intelligent by saying that's the bell...pretentious muppets!! 🤷♂️😅
Buckingham Palace is very British in the way it is only as much a palace as it needs to be. The Palace of Versailles makes Buckingham Palace look like a brick garden shed.
Better to use an Oyster card, it cost the same, they will want one as a souvenir anyway, and a lot easier to replace than a lost/stolen bank card or phone !
I was surprised that they wouldn't let you in The Sky Garden with a baby with some lame excuse about them selling beer and wine. Most pubs, bars and restaurants have licenses that allow under 18s in up to 9PM, though it is at the disgression of the landlord. One little recognised place that ought to be of interest to people from North America is the church with the green spire that can be seen at 2:45 .. it's "All Hallows By The Tower" and is where William Penn (who founded Pennsylvania) was baptised and where John Quincy Adams (who became The USA's fifth president) got married.
Hi, that's not London Bridge, that's Tower Bridge its a bascule bridge and opens for tall ships. Edit: oops you corrected that and saw a ship pass through!
He stopped the catholic church domineering over us & he also started the royal navy. Without both, there would have been no empire. Without the empire, the world would not be as modern/free today.
UK doesn't think we have bad food, this came from the soldiers of WW2 when due to rations, we could only make stodgy filling but dull food. Since then we've had all different cultures coming to UK so our food is now a mix n match of hundreds of country's flavours
Best thing for mothers with toddlers is a lightweight pushchair very lightweight folds away convenient when touring a city like London Can buy them in any store like Argos or online on Amazon heavy buggies aren’t really the thing
My family have been in Bermondsey and around the Borough for a few hundred years. I was married next door to the Borough Market in Southwark Cathedral back in 89. The market then just did fruit and veg wholesale and could get smelly in summer :)
@@FnAVanLife Ha! I presume you meant "fish". Smelly like rotten mouldy veg. Bermondsey back then was full of smells. there was a vinegar factory and a brewery just on the Southside of "Tower Bridge and all the warehouses used to store spices.

Because you're so cultured now ;) and because I'm obsessed (because of my nature and profession), I have to point out a grammatical error in the title: It should be "Americans'" (two or more makes it Americans, plural, then comes the possessive apostrophe). Don't hate me 🤣 I can't help myself. Love the UK series. Are you ever coming home?
"Not only is it the world's first underground railway, the London Underground Railway, or Tube as it is known, is also the oldest in the world"??? By definition the first of anything is always the oldest! 😆
Yes, the UK experiences tornadoes, averaging around 30 per year: Frequency: The UK has a higher density of tornadoes than the US, with about 2.3 tornadoes per year per 10,000 square kilometers. Size and strength: UK tornadoes are usually smaller and weaker than those in the US. Duration: UK tornadoes are typically short-lived. Tornado alleys: The UK has three tornado alleys: Southern England: South of a line between Reading and London, with a maximum near Guildford Southwest of Ipswich: Locations southwest of Ipswich West and south of Birmingham: A line west and south of Birmingham
@FnAVanLife ..you are correct...the UK has more tornadoes per square mile than anywhere on earth it's just that they aren't that big is all...enough to blow over a plant pot in most cases 🤣🤣
Hi just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching tourists enjoy our great country and capital but I must also correct your description of the bridge you were crossing that is in fact Tower Bridge easily recognisable with the tall towers London Bridge is in fact further along the river and much less grand in design.

awww thank you
It always surprises me that someone new to London will always find almost everything exciting, whereas as most of us take it for granted and, to be honest, pay little attention to what we have.
Nyom nyom.
Yeah that is a must eat at spot. Here is a playlist of all our travels around the UK this might help when you are exploring the country.

Oh my gosh Everly is growing like a weed. I have really enjoyed watching 👀 all of your UK 🇬🇧 videos, and loving them. It's a good thing you two are experienced walkers. I think you saw so many things. I love your family. Thanks for sharing.
A weed?! Let's say a flower- not an unewanted weed!
What a great video I hope the UK is treating you kindly x
Yeah in person they did. lovely people
The Victorian Original London bridge was sold and now in Lake Havasu in Arizona
Apparently the Americans expected Tower Bridge, also thinking, mistakenly, that it was London Bridge that they were buying!
It wasn't the original. The Romans built that.
@@aliciathom9633I think that's an urban myth.
Fun way to explore London. Great video!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it.
Been up Sky Garden a couple of times and it provides some really lovely views of the city if you can get up there! For free admission, it's not a bad spot to explore.
wish we could of but we just went a bit to late in the day
I’ve gotta be honest … after you titled Tower Bridge as London Bridge it did kinda make me smile 😂 And now you know why the original London Bridge is over in the US somewhere after a very wealthy American thought he was buying Tower Bridge! 🤣
There’s SO MUCH cool’s stuff for you to go back to London before flying home … we have all the museums, and I’m REALLY surprised you didn’t go to Camden, home of the late great Amy Winehouse and Camden market itself is just like nothing you’ve ever seen.
So cool i didn’t know they had a place like a market
Great to know. Thanks for the information.
That was TOWER BRIDGE guy. ❤
oh thanks yeah we noticed.
You have inspired me to revisit London. It’s been a few years!
Amazing!
u 2 are always happy its great
Good to see a young family getting out and about and embracing British culture
🇬🇧🇺🇸❤
There is also Crossrail Place roof garden at Canary Wharf, above the Elizabeth line station, an abundance of greenery.
What about all the amazing free museums
Tower Bridge!
Queen Elizabeth’s second silver anniversary ?
I take it you mean Golden JUBILEE ?
Hi Guys. First time watching your vids. As to going down the escalator. The way you're going up do the same going down but have the pram/ stroller behind you just hold the handle higher as you can imagine. Xxx
merry christmas🎄
The Sky Garden entry is stricter after 6pm as it becomes more club-ie, with DJs and music and a dress code, someone in the queue when I went was refused entry because of his shorts and trainers, the outdoor terrace also shuts after 6pm.
London looks fun
We had a blast. Good to see you back, Bob.
It’s Tower bridge
It’s not Big Ben, it’s the Elizabeth Tower, the bell is Big Ben.
We all call it Big Ben I have all my life!
To Brits it's Big Ben...end of 😂
Yes. It is Big Ben. Only Londoners go on about the difference between the tower and the bell and the clock.
You’re just being pedantic, every man and his horse knows it as Big Ben!
@Cal-q1w ...exactly...until social media came along they probably always called it Big Ben but now they think there being intelligent by saying that's the bell...pretentious muppets!! 🤷♂️😅
You should go to both Lincoln and York City, both lovely places to go.
maybe we will check out York City next time.
I’m a new subscriber, found you via Tread the Globe. Really love you guys and your enthusiasm for the UK.
This video is really shocking. 🙄. I'm shocked by how shocking it is.
I was shocked to find out that the first underground railway, is, get this, you wont believe it... also the oldest underground railway. Shocking.
@@RoastLambShanks@narabdela RUDE
glad you enjoyed our country .
Buckingham Palace is very British in the way it is only as much a palace as it needs to be. The Palace of Versailles makes Buckingham Palace look like a brick garden shed.
wow that sounds impressive. Palace flex much lol. We will have to put it on our list of places to visit.
When you use the underground it is usually cheaper to just tap your bank card. There is a daily limit, after which, all journeys are free.
That is an awesome fact. 👌 We will have to check it out next time. 😀
I love you three!
Tower bridge is a bit bouncy because it opens for ships
It was really cool to see it open in person.
Your baby is so adorable 🥰
Sweet couple with gorgeous baby girl.
Thank you very much.
Hi, that's not London Bridge, that's Tower Bridge its a bascule bridge and opens for tall ships. Edit: oops you corrected that and saw a ship pass through!
hahaha yes, its ok to make mistakes and learn from them. That is why we left it in the video.
Henry the eigth was nuts
He stopped the catholic church domineering over us & he also started the royal navy. Without both, there would have been no empire. Without the empire, the world would not be as modern/free today.
London is nearly twice the size of new york.
Hope you enjoyed it.
Yeah, we had a wonderful time.
why is it shocking?
Oh wow! Thanks for sharing that story with us. Like fist market smelly? lol
@@FnAVanLife Ha! I presume you meant "fish". Smelly like rotten mouldy veg. Bermondsey back then was full of smells. there was a vinegar factory and a brewery just on the Southside of "Tower Bridge and all the warehouses used to store spices.
London is so expensive! You really would enjoy seeing the beautiful country outside of London; much cheaper too!
We spent 45 days traveling the UK, and 2 of them were in the city. Check out our last 12 videos they are all based in the UK. London was the last video just due to timing.
Are you ever coming home?
haha all good we make mistakes like this all the time. We are back in Canada at the moment.
"Not only is it the world's first underground railway, the London Underground Railway, or Tube as it is known, is also the oldest in the world"??? By definition the first of anything is always the oldest! 😆
You would have liked Horse Guards parade where you could have had a photo taken next to the cavalry soldiers on horses.
Tower Bridge
thanks
Tower. It’s Tower Bridge. Right next to the Tower of London. It’s also covered in signs and info boards that say Tower Bridge…
Yeah, but what's the fun in that. It's more fun to get comments like this, lol.
I can't believe how shocked you were i am totally shocked
crazy right bud
Just to note, we don’t get tornados in the UK like you get in the US. We do get high winds.
Yes, the UK experiences tornadoes, averaging around 30 per year:
Frequency: The UK has a higher density of tornadoes than the US, with about 2.3 tornadoes per year per 10,000 square kilometers.
Size and strength: UK tornadoes are usually smaller and weaker than those in the US.
Duration: UK tornadoes are typically short-lived.
Tornado alleys: The UK has three tornado alleys:
Southern England: South of a line between Reading and London, with a maximum near Guildford
Southwest of Ipswich: Locations southwest of Ipswich
West and south of Birmingham: A line west and south of Birmingham
@FnAVanLife ..you are correct...the UK has more tornadoes per square mile than anywhere on earth it's just that they aren't that big is all...enough to blow over a plant pot in most cases 🤣🤣
tbf when you google London Bridge it brings up Tower Bridge
Hi just wanted to say how much I enjoy watching tourists enjoy our great country and capital but I must also correct your description of the bridge you were crossing that is in fact Tower Bridge easily recognisable with the tall towers London Bridge is in fact further along the river and much less grand in design.
Thank you. Yeah, we had the realization during the video when the second bridge we started walking over was, in fact, London Bridge, lol
The "first" underground railway, is "also the oldest", wow. ahahahha
