Hendrick didn't allow his drivers to race in others series back in those days, a strict Nascar-only policy. Hendrick had to change that rule when he signed Larson. That's how good Larson is, Hendrick was forced to get rid of is long-standing rule just to get him signed. It led to Bowman getting injured in a sprint car wreck last year but it was worth it just to get Larson.
I'll be in the stands next Sunday for my first ever Indy 500. I'm hoping to see history made with a Larson victory. Show those open wheel drivers how talented NASCAR drivers are!
for me I was fully on board when he went sprint car racing, I cant remember the track, but sat the track record the first time he went out. Dude can wheel anything.

Nice job. Those speeds are amazing. From a technical point, it would be interesting to see some data from accelerometers place in the car for how much side load is being exerted on the car while cornering.
Larson is truly a generational driver and yes I too would have loved Robin Miller to be here with us today to Kyle race at the Brickyard in an Indy Car

Being fast in qualifying trim is one thing. Hopefully he will be there, in contention for the final laps. It's incredible to see what he can do behind the wheel.
Kyle Larson is as close to Tony Stewart or AJ Foyt that we have seen. Whether it is dirt, NASCAR, or open wheel he just plain seems to be able to strap himself in and drive it.

Congrats to Kyle. I wish him well, but qualifying and race day are two completely different monsters. Only 19 of the 107 pole sitters won. So many things have to go your way. Case in point, in 1992, the pole sitter finished 33rd (last) and the guy who started 33rd (last) was .043 seconds from winning. So, don't be amazed if he finishes last, or if he wins it. When he goes back and drives his cup thats gonna be a weird speed difference feeling lol. 240 mph down to below 200 at most tracks in a cup car.
Kyle Larson might be the first American driver to prove he can win driving in any series he races with since Mario Andretti.
AJ Foit also.. Dayton 500 4 Indy 500 and a 24 hour lamon. Plus many midget and champ car victories..

240 mph into turn 3??? Good Lord
He's got a real shot at this thing. And for the first time in about 5 years I will actually be able to watch the whole thing
I got to nap in the middle of the races somewhere, just getting to old.😅
240 mph is a world apart from 190. Amazing job, he's definitely got the stuff.
Yeah, but NASCAR cup cars don't exactly have the handling that the Indy cars have.
I feel so privileged to witness one of the greatest drivers in my lifetime of 60 yrs......

I agree. Very good behind the wheel.
