  • @kylem6370

If I’m the Angels I’m seriously considering trade both Ohtani and Trout.. you can get easily the biggest trade return in history which would include a whole farm system filled with top prospect talent (hoping it pans out) and even a few young good current players in the league. Trout you can definitely still get some value for some big top prospect players of another good farm team and a young good developing player. They are 31 and 29 so still have years left of putting up great numbers and being huge assets to teams. Angels clearly even now are years away from being title contenders and need to get what they can for them now and rebuild off of those 2 trades and if developed right can be a young team that wins a lot in the future

Ohtani doesn't care about money and never has. He was raised that way by his parents. The following is an excerpt about why Shohei's mom still works part time:
"Ohtani's mom still works part time because "It doesn't feel right to ask my son for money just because he's getting paid well"
She said the family already feels they've enough with their own income, and that she never felt the need to ask Ohtani for more. Just goes to show what kind of humble family Ohtani came from that built all of his current discipline and approach to life." So I don't think money can buy him.

Rich - the best option for the Angels is to offer him a 1 year offer that he can’t refuse, in hopes of buying time to really build around Shohei in the off-season.
$60M+ 1 year deal could do it for Shohei. He can then still get traded at the deadline next year if the Angels aren’t playoff bound and then the Angels can trade him.
Idk why anyone hasn’t seriously considered this option for the Angels to keep Shohei.

Dude won’t truly get the media coverage and recognition that matches his talent until he signs w/ the Yankees or if I’m being bias my Atlanta Braves but unfortunately Braves are cheap in FA.

Let's not forget Shohei Ohtani is 29 years old. He has roughly 3 years playing at his current levels, if that...

Yea but even 75% of current levels is good. Only thing is health. If he can stay healthy is the main thing.

More big money hype trying to save baseball. The Yankees? The Dodgers? That's already what's wrong with the sport. Instead, wouldn't you love to wake up some morning and find out Ohtani decided to go to a fun and exiting group of hungry talent led by that kid named De La Cruz?

I wouldn't resign him. They're not going to win with him, may as well get what you can for him. These figures they're throwing around is pure insanity. These deals never seem to work out and yet big market teams continue to do them. No one has learned anything from what the Mets are doing.
