Hi guys!! It was so great meeting you at Epcot. You two were so nice and generous in letting my husband and I take a photo with you. You have no idea how thrilled I was that whole day. Keep up the great videos.
Hi Ben and David it’s only me Louise - I hope you’ve had a good week and I’ll keeping well. Unfortunately I saw the multiple sclerosis nurse during the week and my multiple sclerosis has advanced even further - I’ve got the hospice team consultants coming in on Thursday to discuss pain management with me. I’m staying positive as usual - but as you know you both brighten up my Sunday evenings ~ nearly an hour to watch as well absolutely brilliant - I hope you have a great week. Sending loads of love and loads of hugs as always.~ Xxx Xxx
HAPPY PRIDE GENTLEMEN…from NYC!! Loving this series of the Queen Mary. Am shocked about the service not going to lie, and thank you for these honest reviews!
On our last transatlantic, my wife suffered seasickness for the first time. The Seabourn crew were terrific. When the waiter asked about her he brought a basket of crystallized ginger for her. That was the answer! Now we travel with a small bag of it on every cruise. Avoids all the chemicals. Thank you Seabourn and thank you Ben and David for these great vids.
We have ginger chews what we bring with us. Another suggestion is to snag a green apple from the buffet, and keep it in your cabin. First sign of queasiness, slice it up, and nibble on it slowly. It amazing how well this works without needing meds.
This works for me on the Transatlantic cruise, I ate sushi ginger from the sushi area, but I didn’t eat the sushi and had dinner. They had crystal iced ginger and I ate that too.
There is a great story from an American soldier that defines how much the Brits love their tea. On D day on the Normandy invasion, these 2 Americans and 2 Brits survived the assault to the shore. The water was full of blood since most soldiers did not make it. It was a miracle to be alive and on the shore. The next step was to climb the cliff. The Americans get ready when suddenly they see the 2 Brits sitting down on the shore building a fire. The Americans say "what the hell are you guys doing'? The Brits say "we're having a cup of tea" The Americans said there is not time for a cup of tea, lets go. The American said these British guys were the most fearless soldiers he ever saw and they wanted to celebrate their survival with a cup of tea.
I've done 2 transatlantic cruises, both were on Royal Caribbean ships entering the US for the first time. Went with my dad both times. I was in my late 30s, he was close to 70. Enjoyed the pace very much. I was one of the younger cruisers and it was fun taking older style dance classes and doing trivia. I loved the slower pace. My dad read a LOT. (He always read a LOT.) He's gone now. I wouldn't do this cruise now.
Hahahaha “junk mail from the spa”…I used to work in the spa on cruise ships. The only thing more annoying than receiving those junk mail is delivering them from cabin to cabin. 😂🤦🏻♀️
We went on a 3 nighter when she had come out of dry Dock last year. Service was really poor then...Spa cancelled and not informed. Room service never came as they 'were too busy'. If they don't have the staff they should reduce how many cabins they are selling
I did a westward crossing several years ago. I felt like a VIP for a week. The crew were the best. Went through a force 10 and the swimming pool wasn’t emptied... it was the greatest fun being sloshed from one end to the other without swimming a stroke. I'll never forget it.
Similar in S Pacific last April 23 in Cel Infinity off of Chile, just the 1 freak wave in the night sent everything flying. Alarming...but something to talk about...
You guys are great. I love the genuine honesty. I'm going on a round trip transatlantic in June 2025 on the QMII. I 'm aware the ship is a little older but no worries. Thank You for the informative take on all aspects of this crossing.
I have my Great grandmother’s diary from her transatlantic crossing when she emigrated to Canada from Yorkshire in the 1930’s. It was such an interesting read. Pre WW1 my Great uncles were stewards on the White line. Unfortunately they were both killed in WW1.
My family went on the same crossing in December and we experienced the same exact issues as Ben & David. The food was not good and a good majority of the crew were in bad moods and surly. I heard a lot of passengers complaining. I will say though that Cunard does an excellent job with their guest speakers. I usually find them utterly fascinating.
Dearest Ben and David, thrilled that you are finally sailing on QM2 and as always, you have me in stitches with your commentary. No need to order those British snacks from Amazon. When you arrive in NYC just go to Myers of Keswick, 634 Hudson Street and you'll find everything you need. It is a little bit of British heaven right there in Greenwich Village.
WhooHoo! The boys are resplendent in their finery. Was slightly worried when David was in a black tee shirt; as of late he has been so colorfully stylish. Ben has a posh style and David has an innocent yet dignified look! Love you guys
I did the Queen Mary Transatlantic Crossing New York to Southampton and absolutely loved it. I get terrible motion sickness and was surprised that I was unaffected totally on the transatlantic cruise perhaps going east is an easier crossing. Also, I went in the summer. I tell all my friends to do a transatlantic cruise on the Queen Mary because you can’t even feel the ship. I got in trouble one evening when I said, wouldn’t it be nice if we had a storm and then we could feel the ship moving the whole table looked at me like I was nuts. It would be neat to see an iceberg but we never did and no one else at my table was looking forward to seeing one. I especially liked the planetarium and the entertainment that we had was fantastic. I am looking forward to doing it again. Thank you for your. They are always so entertaining. You are the best.
I was on the Queen Mary a few years ago during the winter, and it did sail through the edge of a storm because we couldn’t sell any further south , ship handled it well but about a fourth of the people or more didn’t show up for breakfast. I usually become seasick, but since I ate a lot of ginger, I did not.
I remember as a young child doing the crossing in 1969 from New York to Southampton. Somewhere during our trip all family members were sick at some time. But when I recall memories with my family, no one is bothered. It just came with the trip.
"We don't like people watching us film because it's embarrassing". And yet you still do it so I applaud you. I get embarrassed taking any photos on trips no less taking videos. Just something I can't get over. I wanted to film my trip to Jamaica with my wife a year ago but I couldn't do it. Just felt weird anytime I had my phone out around area strangers.
On her 1st trip to west coast, I was able to see the Queen Mary 2 in our small Long Beach Harbor come and say Hi to the OG Queen Mary. It was an awesome sight.
I have tears in my eyes after you speaking about her majesty the Queen. I’m American, but I’ve loved her my whole life, thanks to my parents, who surprisingly were also American. They loved her as well.
Did the return trip in 2009 as a first cruise. The person I went with hated flying. Only in NYC for 6 hrs! Both of us wanted photos from Empire State so I went up alone, visited Time Square, Toys R US and Maceys as we both had grandchildren to buy for. We went nearly the same week as you had a phenomenal sunrise which you can't buy, I ate Sushi for the first time. I loved the library and at that time it was the best place to do email. Lots of small memories and watching you two is bringing back more. Thanks and hope you enjoy your week's away.
Watching Titanic on a luxury liner UK-US transatlantic voyage is like watching plane crash videos on an intercontinental flight. Or watching the first Final Destination while following a logging truck. 😂
Regarding the comments on the baffling layout -- Gary of the Tips for Travelors channel has posted he has trouble finding his way around, and he's done a dozen crossings! As for the poor condition, I think Carnival (which owns Cunard) are letting this ship down. Do they think it's OK if everything they own comes down to the level of a budget Carnival ship? I was especially sad that the planetarium was down -- that was once a big point of pride for them. Queen Mary probably needs an extended dry dock, but that would take it out of service and cost them too much.
@@LynnHypno Per the cruise critic site, she was in dry dock for about a month, just last year! My guess is, they were concentrated on the mechanics -- which are obviously important -- but not the interior or amenities. I don't see her scheduled for any downtime for the next couple of years, at least (cruises through 2026 can be seen and booked on any number of cruise sites).
@@chuckoneill2023 she had new carpets and a few cosmetic upgrades so I would think by next year she’ll be due a bit more! I’m on her in April but having read recent reviews about the food and service I’m tempted to call Cunard and say I booked a product I seem unlikely to receive! I’ll keep an eye on reviews up until my last payment date I think!
I think removing the gratuity on the Cunard ships happens more often than you might realise but it’s not always because the service isn’t good. I went with a large group who regularly cruise and we all removed the gratuity so that we could tip those who are working for us rather than everyone on the ship. When we spoke to the stewardess and staff they said that they prefer this because they are getting rewarded when they do a good job.
Yes this is my thoughts too , Cunard regulars especially those leaving from uk don’t like gratuity automatically added I have a group of friends who only cruise Cunard and always remove gratuities .
In the main dining room on formal night, I would have been irritated after 15 minutes and furious and left after 30 for the buffet or room service. With Cunard's reputation for service and food quality, it's a disgrace to see it sliding downhill. Other recent cruise vlogs have had similar experiences.
Yes it was interesting. You'd have thought they'd at least get the drinks out promptly. Even if the kitchen is struggling there's no excuse for not getting the drinks out
I’m really wanting to take this trip in the next two years as it will be the 100th anniversary of my grandmother going on the same trip when she was a teenager. She was a socialite whose parents wanted to get her out of their hair one summer and sent her to the UK from New York/New Jersey. She was 15. I’m pretty sure it was Cunard too.
The guy sitting behind Ben at Tea had a nasty scowl directed your way, he looked very rude, Guy's, I seriously doubt it is your fault at all, he did not look happy to begin with....I have neighbors like that. Some people never knew what "happy" or "enjoy" is. People like that are miserable in their own lives. It may have to do with the filming, but PLEASE do not stop! I look forward all the time to your video's, you always have great content! To me, this is you two sharing cruises I cannot experience myself and I appreciate that so very much!
Don't know about Cunard but I tend to think UK cruise lines are way less accepting of filming than others. The vibe is just different and you feel people think you're an idiot or have an undercurrent of hostility to it.
The cabin seems pretty understated The pillows on the bed perk it up. It's always hugely entertaining watching you guys eat and critique the food. 15 minutes in it looks like the QM 2 is a little bit disappointing for guests but it's so much fun to look in from this side. Great video. Thanks, guys.
Agreed, my partner and I are booked sheltered balcony in October NYC to the UK. These fine chaps, Paul and Carole and others always seem to have keys that don't let them in. The food seems just OK, pub too full to get lunch service and on a Facebook group the Planetarium has been broken since April 😒
Also my mom says she buys the chocolate and hob nobs here in canada from british shops or import section in grocery store. I love her when she buys me the special chocolate (but she says its only a treat because it costs lots but we do have it here)
Other than Bonine, we have ginger chews (we have the smaller bags of mixed flavors like original, lemon, orange, and mango). Also, we will grab a green apple from the buffet at breakfast and keep it in the cabin. If you’re slightly queasy you can cut up that apple, and nibble on it off and on. It’s amazing how well that works if you’re not too sick. Great video as usual! ❤
Really appreciate the elements you've added to this video (David and the Flame of France) as well as a brief mention of special speakers (Ben). As one watches you stroll about the ship, it's so interesting how the "atmosphere" of the ship is transmitted through the video - it seems so quiet and reserved, not much in the way of crowds (other than meals, of course). It's easy to appreciate the aura of a trans-Atlantic cruise. Of ALL the videos you've done, I must say this one could maybe persuade me to give a trans-Atlantic cruise a "look-see".
I was surprised to learn that the food was not good. I thought that a ship which is supposed to exude class, would serve the best. That said, I would still want to try an ocean crossing without port stops.
Thank you for this very entertaining and informative video, Ben and David! I was most impressed by the fact that your cruise was transporting the Eternal Flame from Paris to Arlington National Cemetery in remembrance of D-Day. I was second most impressed by the amount of time you spent on that chilly-cold deck filming and even going in the hot tub! High tea looked like a great experience, but that gala dinner - a one hr 45 minute wait, and just two tiny courses? I would have gone raving mad. Thank you for giving us all the details and providing an honest review.
It’s long been a dream of mine to do The Crossing, but alas, is not to be. Earlier this year and I did a crossing on Viking. It doesn’t have the panache of sailing on the QM, but it was pretty wonderful. With everything that’s included, it was also the better bargain.
Hello Ben and David. My stepdad was in the US Navy during WW2. He saw the Japanese planes flying over to attack Pearl Harbor. Although, he was in the Pacific for the duration of the war, I appreciate your reverence.
you can buy hobnob cookies at the supermarket in the US. We have them here in Texas in the HEB stores and in Florida you can find them at Albertsons. Helpful tip - They might not be with other biscuits or cookies but you'll find them in the International Isle LOL
Great video guys as always ..nice to see a different version of cruising too :)..you both looked so smart in your suits ..cant wait for the next one thankyou 🥰
You both looked very smart in your suits ❤ wow thats Awful you had to wait so long for your starters / Main course (s) 😮 plus i must say your meals didn’t look very appealing 🫣 ( for such an expensive cruise you would expect beter service / Food choices 🤔). I really hope Cunard take note of whats happening, of course we never know whats going on back in the kitchens etc There could be issues but saying that. Out of courtesy they could have informed you, about the delay offer you maybe. a complimentary drink While you waited 🤔🤷♀️. Maybe i being to wishful thinking , but having worked in the Hospitality sector i had a few times had to step in due to problems many customers, Guests .certainly not easy to please everyone but the most excepted our offer ,were very thankful.😊. Hope the crossing. Didn’t get more bumpy 🤞🙏you both enjoyed your selfs😊😊, have a wonderful time on your Next adventures 🥰 Have a Great weekend 🥰
Never ever been on any ship, but love you guys so much, always been so fascinated with this particular voyage, stepped in history. Your videos are so very relaxing.
Its a happy day when i see a new video. I found you all 3 weeks ago and have been making my way through your videos. Such growth from your first year to now. I absolutely love watching your videos. Thank you for the entertainment!!
thank you guys for having such fabulous travels, and sharing it in such detail. For me, any cruise would be a once in a lifetime experience, and something i save up for 5-10 years for. I'm glad i can see an honest opinion of what its like, and have fun enjoying your guys' styles and adventures, when anything even *close* feels impossible for me and many others.
Transatlantics have always been my favorite cruises. I love sea days. I've used Princess, Celebrity and Viking. And all of them were great. One of my Princess cruises from Venice to New York included a hurricane, with 100 mph winds and 50 foot waves that took out ten windows on the Promenade deck.. That was a voyage rather than a cruise. The food and service on all of them were fantastic, and there was never a problem getting a seat at any of them. Thanks for your great videos of your experiences. Very eye opening. I always wanted to try Cunard, but not so much any more. I think for me Celebrity was the best. It had a big ship experience without feeling crowded. I love bridge on long cruises, and the card room on Celebrity was on one of the balconies in the 14 floor Atrium, giving one lots to look at when you were the "dummy" hand. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the vid, it was just what I needed today. And, as usual, I feel like I've got an accurate sense of the ship and the experience, the good and the bad. Cunard was never really going to be for me but your coverage has helped clarify that. I'd love the afternoon tea and be bored the rest of the time. I can absolutely see the charm of the history though. Thank you both for always being so realistic and open in your videos. Also, anyone can see looking through the comments on your videos how beloved you are, and it's for good reason. I hope you're doing well wherever you are right now! x
Y'all look so handsome in your suits! Thank you for the honest review of the Queen Mary 2. I've been curious about transatlantic cruises since I've not been on one yet. I love history and I have always been a Titanic buff, so the Queen Mary 2 just seems the best way to experience something similar. Y'all said something smart about transatlantic cruising is easier on your body because the jet lag isn't so instantaneous or severe. It's a nice gradual way to adjust, which is important when your middle aged (like my husband and I).
I just placed an Amazon order for several types of biscuits. Looking forward to tea with my new biscuits. You both make the food look so enjoyable on your videos. Thank you for introducing us to new flavors to try.
As we are considering a transatlantic on the Queen Mary 2 your commentary has been extremely helpful. My concerns rest mainly with activities during the day. They appear somewhat limited, not similar to other sailings we have been on. I see this cruise as perhaps a one time experience. We would embark in NYC and travel east. Again thank you for your thoughts.
It’s not a party ship thankfully and suits me just fine. I especially enjoyed just checking out a book and reading it while sitting in the lounge chair outside with a latte on the table by the side and also enjoyed the lectures really good ones about oceanography and astronomy.
One of my favorite authors was on a cruise I was on. She had a meet and greet with books to give out. Not a paid person. She just lets them know she will be cruising and will be available to talk to. Amazing to see her.
Love this series on qm2. Thanks for being so thorough... I'll be visiting the canary islands with my grandmother in Feb, so I'm soaking up all this info. I hope our voyage is more satisfying though!
This cruise looks awesome! My parents sailed from Belfast to NY in 1947 on the Queen Mary. Certainly not upper class. They had a 6 week old infant and were sea sick most of the way passing her from bottom to top bunks.
When I worked for a catering company we would cater high teas so to answer the question of what happens to the crusts.... we eat them otherwise they get thrown out and my head chef wasn't a fan of food waste.
Requesting a ‘private table’ is a great shout - I was offered this when I cruised solo on the QM2, and was delighted not to be at a ‘solo’ table inched away from the next table!
You guys are both the best. Love watching your videos. Sorry the weather was cold for your crossing (Eastern Canadian here... don't blame me 😄)... I don't think I'll be booking Cunard any time soon, but love cruising! Cheers from Nova Scotia ❤
You guys are my favorite cruise-tubers, and I watch everyone. Keep up the brilliant content. Disappointing to hear the service issues on this iconic line, hope they get the message and step it up on their new ship.
I loved how soft Ben's eyes were as he stood next to that lovely portrait of the late Queen. I'm American and I miss her too. I think the ship is lovely but the food does look disappointing.

The man in the brown jacket during afternoon tea was definitely an assassin sent by MSC…
At least he was wearing a jacket! 😀
lol!! I was thinking the same thing 😂
He was soooooo annoyed😂
He was definitely concerned about his cover being blown.
I don’t think he cared about them filming, I think that was just his personality, no matter where he goes lol.

Of course they said that.
My family and I saw both of you on the Kelly Clarkson Show! Congratulations David!!! 🥳
Even if the kitchen is struggling there's no excuse for not getting the drinks out
I just love HobNobs with richtea and a nice super (Yorkshire) nicccccccces❤❤❤❤❤
I’m really wanting to take this trip in the next two years as it will be the 100th anniversary of my grandmother going on the same trip when she was a teenager. She was a socialite whose parents wanted to get her out of their hair one summer and sent her to the UK from New York/New Jersey. She was 15. I’m pretty sure it was Cunard too.
Wow!
This was wonderful - I LOVE "going" on your trips with you!
That guy looked more like private security than a cruiser. Either that or he was REALLY miserable
I think that was just his personality lol
just delete such person's pic from video
One negative guy versus the thousands of people who absorb total joy from Ben and David’s videos.
Don't know about Cunard but I tend to think UK cruise lines are way less accepting of filming than others.
The vibe is just different and you feel people think you're an idiot or have an undercurrent of hostility to it.
While watching this video, I went ahead and ordered some Hobnobs, lol. Can't wait to try them!!!
Such a good video. Thank you! And how heartfelt special are the Normandy 80th Anniversary flames...😔
This ship probably serves more tea than Carnival serves draft beer 😆
looks like I would take a Carnival cruise any day over a pig dressed up in lipstick :)
It's a carnival corp owned ship
They serve tons of henny on carnival
@@burkhard-anton806- same . This trip looks boring, full of boring miserable snobbish people , and mediocre food and service for the money.
Arlington is a nice place to visit & yet somber. Thank you France for sharing the flame
An Out of Order planetarium is a bummer, for sure! 😢
I was surprised to learn that the food was not good. I thought that a ship which is supposed to exude class, would serve the best. That said, I would still want to try an ocean crossing without port stops.
The food they had in the previous video looked like slop.
The ship agrees with you. Both of you look so dapper.
My bucket list is that exact cruise. I don’t care if I am in 4th class.
So pleased you did this cruise as I have realised it’s not for me , food and service is not up to standard so thanks boys you have saved us money ❤
You guys have a wonderful channel !! Thanks for the great content you provide ! You both are hilarious !
Hi guys just off qm2 a3 night cruise totally agree with what you said
It’s long been a dream of mine to do The Crossing, but alas, is not to be. Earlier this year and I did a crossing on Viking. It doesn’t have the panache of sailing on the QM, but it was pretty wonderful. With everything that’s included, it was also the better bargain.
You guys are a bright spot on my Sundays. Thank you so much❤
Hello Ben and David.
Publix here in FL has British food too. Defo Hobnobs
World Market always has them, plus the Jaffa cakes, and many other British yummies.
LOVE all your informative, fun, happy vlogs.
You are both a pleasure to watch with so many helpful tips.
Simply very informative video! You guys have deep dived into all the minute details possible. Keep up the good work 👍🏻
The clip-on fan that you recommended (visible in this video) absolutely saved me on our cruise in April. I have to feel air moving. Thank you!! ❤😊
Lol, now watch The Poseidon Adventure. Great video, Ben and David!
You gents look very dapper in your suits. I enjoy seeing people dress up for dinner.
I really hope Cunard take note of whats happening, of course we never know whats going on back in the kitchens etc
There could be issues but saying that. Out of courtesy they could have informed you, about the delay offer you maybe. a complimentary drink
While you waited 🤔🤷♀️.
Maybe i being to wishful thinking , but having worked in the Hospitality sector i had a few times had to step in due to problems many customers, Guests .certainly not easy to please everyone but the most excepted our offer ,were very thankful.😊.
Hope the crossing. Didn’t get more bumpy 🤞🙏you both enjoyed your selfs😊😊, have a wonderful time on your Next adventures 🥰
Have a Great weekend 🥰
Never ever been on any ship, but love you guys so much, always been so fascinated with this particular voyage, stepped in history. Your videos are so very relaxing.
7 days of nowhere to go, all day to get there, and someone else is driving!
I just placed my order on Amazon for Hobnobs! Love Curly Wurlys! Great promoting!!! Love you guys! Rick-Augusta, Georgia
Its a happy day when i see a new video. I found you all 3 weeks ago and have been making my way through your videos. Such growth from your first year to now. I absolutely love watching your videos. Thank you for the entertainment!!
Tea time is the BEST! I had 4 scones everyday!!!!
thank you guys for having such fabulous travels, and sharing it in such detail. For me, any cruise would be a once in a lifetime experience, and something i save up for 5-10 years for. I'm glad i can see an honest opinion of what its like, and have fun enjoying your guys' styles and adventures, when anything even *close* feels impossible for me and many others.
If you’re going into New York City, there’s a ferry really close to where you get off with the Queen Mary and it’s very cheap and convenient.
Love you guys and you do such high quality work!
I hope you're doing well wherever you are right now! x
That’s my night time chill out viewing sorted. I’m early to bed most nights and love to watch your videos guys.
It's a nice gradual way to adjust, which is important when your middle aged (like my husband and I).
local grocery stores here on the east coast sell Hob Knobs
I found my sailing very relaxing and sometimes I would be just walking and spontaneously. came across two or three women playing the cello.
David, if you've never been to a planetarium I would recommend seeing the one in NYC. One of the best in the world!
Don't assume. We always remove automatic gratuities and pay cash as services or rendered or after. Pre-paid gratuities mainly benefit the cruise line.
1:51 "We don't like to advertise brands"
3:05 Makes me want a HobNob.
That was a beautiful portrait of the Queen.
This cruise looks awesome! My parents sailed from Belfast to NY in 1947 on the Queen Mary. Certainly not upper class. They had a 6 week old infant and were sea sick most of the way passing her from bottom to top bunks.
It's fitting that two of the classiest travelers take the classiest voyage here to America. Welcome to the US.
...some of...
Louise you have many friends praying for you. You are not alone!
I'll be crossing in November, can't wait.
I love the way you guys go after breakfast desert!❤
When I worked for a catering company we would cater high teas so to answer the question of what happens to the crusts.... we eat them otherwise they get thrown out and my head chef wasn't a fan of food waste.
Be a great way make bread pudding
“Attach a propellor and call me a helicopter”! 🤣 Love you guys ❤
I am so trying cream as the base on my scone. Makes perfect sense! It is a buffer for the jam and no sneaky crumbs affecting the spread. Great tip❤
Looking great in your tux Ben 😊. David looks smart as well
You guys are my favorite cruise-tubers, and I watch everyone.
