They report what the instruments tells them. It was a category 5 for two days. It's impossible to know what or where it's going to go. If they forecast a category 3 and it comes ashore a category 5, people would say they didn't tell me it would be so bad.

Neighbors/churches. 2. GA Power. 3. Local government. If FEMA did Not come, we would Not notice except save a lot of time, headache on trying to apply and get rejected for the $750 assistance. Some people are saying they are getting the $750 when they appeal or reapply. Here in Augusta GA FEMA is a barrier for even the $750. I know lots of people with high deductibles and insurance lowballing costs for damages (so more money out of pocket).... these people still get denied for the FEMA $750/household.
I don't remember anyone saying it would be a CAT 5 at landfall. For the last 24 hours they all called for CAT 3. There was a time when some were suggesting a CAT 4 but that changed back to 3 with the next update.
