    Wow, great to see you two back at it! What an awesome dealer to sell you the wheel off of a brand new bike. The route looks fun so far. Looking forward to more.

    Nice opening video of the next adventure. I feel your pain with purchase of wheel.
    I destroyed the front rim of my FJR in Canada back in 2016 on my way back from prudhoe Bay, Alaska Managed to get to a Yamaha dealer who ,after going through all options, took the wheel off a new FJR on the shop floor to replace mine. Got me moving again, but that was a kick in the nuts budget wise.
    Looking forward to next installments. After this series I'll decide whether to do Pyrenees or Portugal Act next year.

      Ouch, we feel your pain as well. Unexpected expenses like that are a horrible shock on a trips budget. This particular trip was testing in a few areas!
      We were chatting just yesterday about our favourite ACT route. We’ve really enjoyed them all and I’m sure you’ll love whichever one you do. Hopefully the series will give you a flavour but for us it was Pyrenees that just edged into the lead

    This is great work, you have really been working at the production and it shows. My favourite clip was the turning off of the rear ABS. You know its time to have fun when that button gets pressed (and then pressed again if you turn the bike off, dammit Honda!)

      Hopefully it’ll bring back memories of your trip as well. I’m not sure if you remember the second hard loop on day one but my God that has deteriorated since we rode it a few years ago. We really struggled getting back out of that valley!!!

    Bilbao must be an exciting city to explore. When you have to stay longer than planned - which your perfectly organized dealer vetoed ;-) Pity that your journey started with a mechanical problem. Hope everything works fine from now on. Although your cliffhanger... Cheerio, Günter/Nürnberg PS: Did the Brandenburg sandbowl sw of Berlin, a perfect playground for the light CRF 300 L. Great little bike.

      Hi Günter, we missed your comments! Nice to hear from you 😊
      It was certainly an interesting start to the trip. The sandbowl sounds interesting. Is it literally sand? That’s definitely a surface we struggle with if it’s deep sand 😱

      @@wanderinghonda7963 I struggle, too, with deep sand. And with deep mud. The region round Berlin is wonderful for sand training. The wild, wild East of Germany with lots of trails. In the season I'm riding a lot, so there are weeks of not watching and commenting TH-cam ;-) I will let you know about ACT Croatia soon. Cheers, Günter

    So, who did the bearings before the trip? That's malfeasance negligence, a stripped hub due to a bearing is easy to detect!!

    • @wanderinghonda7963
      @wanderinghonda7963  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To be honest, the whole thing is a bit of a puzzling mystery. That particular rear wheel bearing was replaced just a few hundred miles ago after we had a problem in Wales (if you’re interested I’ve stuck the link to the video video below)
      It rode fine for a few hundred miles before we got to Spain so it would definitely be harsh to blame them mechanic who changed the bearing.
      No idea why the bearing housing ended up worn like it was. a bit frustrating but as you know when you travel distances on bikes stuff happens and you just have to sort it. This trip threw up a few difficulties for us to sort, so hopefully you’ll enjoy the rest of the series 😊

      @@wanderinghonda7963 fair enough, it would indeed be hard to pinpoint a timeline for the hub deteriorating. Bearings are one check I do myself, no exceptions. Jam your finger inside hard and twist, you'll quickly be able to tell any problem. The previous mechanic would've immediately seen the outer race rotating inside the hub, let alone any visible damage, which I'm guessing there was if the bearing was clunking that hard.
      I know you guys at least reached Serra da Estrela as I spotted you guys at Manteigas :)
