    Just thought I'd let you know that I made this right away, and I've been washing my face with it nightly for about a week.

    Thank you so much Niamh. This face wash powder has changed my life! I've already converted my sister and best friend to start using this as well. Growing up my skin was prone to acne and into my twenties I still got the occasional spot. I've been using this powder for about three and a half months now and my pores appear smaller, cleaner and my face in general is positively glowing! An added bonus, I no longer have to buy cleansers from the store (which are almost always inevitably packaged in plastic and have so many nasty additives). Your channel is my absolute favourite. Thank you.

    Great combination of ingredients. The chamomile herb can be ground from tea bags, the lavender from a gourmet herb store. And of course there's always online ordering, if you cannot find ingredients locally.

    I have been making this face powdered wash for 30 years. It's very gentle on my skin. The only ingredient I've never added is lavender, I add green tea (matcha. Tea). After washing I use cucumber juice as toner. Thanks for sharing.

    I tried this without the lavender because my blossoms weren’t dry yet, and it’s been four days and already my face looks amazing! My bumps and blackheads are fading and I’ve been getting compliments! I got the rye flour at Whole Foods, I ground up my own chickpeas and oats at home, and used the turmeric and chamomile from my pantry. I would have loved to have added lavender. Next time. I love this powder so much! Thanks so much for sharing this recipe! I love your videos!

    Thank you so much!! I made this (without the chamomile and lavender as i couldnt get any) and have been using for about 3 weeks now. It has been fantastic!!! Best thing i have ever used on my skin. I have had acne since teenage years and it never went away no matter what i used..my skin is so much clearer..i havent had any breakouts...what a miracle!!! The only thing left on my skin is the scarring from all the acne i have had in the past. Thank you thank you thank you all the way from New Zealand!!

    Lots of great ingredients! I love it! I’ve been using roughly 2/3 chickpea flour and 1/3 kaolin clay as a face wash powder (I can source kaolin with plastic free packaging in the UK)... but you’ve inspired me to try mixing it up (literally) with different ingredients... I think I’ll start with a little turmeric! 😀

    Hi :) I've only recently come accross your videos and I enjoy them thoroughly. I wanted to ask you how you found out about all these natural, no waste recipes. Maybe you have professional knowledge about chemistry? I ask because I am (slowly but surely) turning my life natural and no waste, but where I live (Venezuela) we have different ingredients available, some expensive and some not so much. So I was wondering if you could explan how to know what to use or where to start.

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Hi there, delighted you found the videos!!
      I have a science degree but I'm not a chemist so all I learn is from trial and error and research. Also I find a lot of inspiration from Indian culture... they use a lot of natural products...
      Don't worry if you don't have all the ingredients... just use what you have...

    I just made this, oh what a wonderful smell. I didn’t have chickpea flour or rye but I had organic coconut flour along with the oat flour. All my ingredients are organic and I also added dried calendula flower although this didn’t grind up all that well but I did put it through the sieve. I’ll try it tonight when I wash my face. I also made rose water toner. Thanks for the inspiration and tips. ❤️

      @EmmaAppleBerry I love linen/flax. One thing that I do- I never put it in the dryer. Linen clothes I wash on cold, gentle cycle. Napkins/serviettes (table!) and dish towels I wash on hot (that's not very hot actually here in the US), regular cycle. I do like to iron my napkins and dish towels, but never with a crease! I read that linen threads will break if one irons in a sharp crease, or always folds the item the same way; so I'm try to avoid that. I currently do not make my own but use commercial detergents, but gentle, unscented and dye-free ones. Organic if I can get it. HTH!

    ooo, nice! i have everything except the rye flour. Id like to try this out, even without the rye, if you think it would still be as effective.

    Hi niamh.
    I've started using this face wash for about a month now. It's going great except that sometimes it gets a bit dry and flaky around the nose. I have oily-combination skin. (oily t-zone, normal elsewhere). What do you think might help?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmm maybe it is a little drying for you or it is removing dead skin cells and balancing out the oiliness.. . I have the same combo skin and it can be tricky. Ease off on the nose and see does that help... let me know how you go... if it still flaky, stop for a week and then see... and obviously make sure you moisturise really well after...

    I have used oats or oatflour for a calming face wash for several years. If your face is irritated or just needs a soothing experience, you can take a tblspn or two of straight plain quick oats, put in a small bowl, add equal amount of hot tap water and let it set. Then mix it to a paste and pull your hair back from your face. and just take the paste and smooth on your face, avoid your eye brows if possible and your hair line. let it set on your face for a minute. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Your face will feel soft, and be calmed down.

    Im curious about the texture? Is it silky smooth or kinda grainy? Im worried it might be kind of scrub feeling than a cleanser

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      it is slightly scrubby but only slightly... it totally depends also how you blend it up..

    I’m very interested in trying this. Do you have any good name brands online to get the ingredients from? And do you use spf during the day? If so, what kind are you using?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FN-Nova I don’t use spf during the day. I wear a hat if spending time outdoors. Sometimes I use a brand called Shade for spf. You can get from Sand Cloud

    Hi! I’m making my own oat flour since I can’t get a hand on it in bulk stores. How smooth should my oat be? After I’ve sieved it, it still has very small bits of oat and I’m scared it would leave damage to my skin. Thank you for anyone replying!
