    i hope this sends you down a SOAD rabbithole! They're SO good. Toxicity, Prison Song, Deer Dance, and Hypnotize are all great ones. The band split up, but Serj (the lead singer) has some amazing solo music now. Empty Walls and Yes, It's Genocide are my favorites by him. The guitarist and backup singer, Daron, also has his own band now, but I haven't listened to it at all.

    Undoubtedly one of the best heavy experimental bands. They're very message driven in a way that doesn't overpower the music too. They get the info in there with the melody not the the melody in spite of the message

    • @macdeluxe733
      @macdeluxe733 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@himynameis3664 Nah, it was called suicide. They were told by their label it couldn't be. Strange, considering SOAD's anti-establishment stance on just about everything; their USP, if you like. Money talks in the end, I guess 🤷‍♂

    This is what it sounds/feels like when my son with ADHD tries to tell me a story about a show he was watching.😂
    Love this song. It was my morning alarm for many years, and my oldest still hears "WAKE UP" and jumps up like its time for school.

    • @Comrade_mommy
      @Comrade_mommy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sounds like me when I was a kid. Then I had my own neurodivgent kid and that’s a whole other level of insanity. Let me guess, he starts in the middle of his story, then catches himself and says oh but it starts like…..then he tells you the end, only to be reminded of a key feature half way into the show. My mom used to make me stop, then told me to run around the house 5 X’s, then I could come back and try again.

    • @pixie055
      @pixie055 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Comrade_mommy That's pretty accurate. Key features are sprinkled sporadically throughout the story, and almost never in any sort of specific order. There's also multiple side tracks, forgetting what we were talking about, and remembering a funny unrelated joke mid sentence. It can be pretty chaotic, much like this song feels. I wish running around the house worked for him. Lol

    Great reaction. It’s a really visually cool video also. Lastly, chop suey is about how people are judged differently by how they die. Suicide, drug overdoses etc are viewed socially very differently than say a car wreck that “took them too soon”. Whereas a drug overdose somehow implies you’re a bad person. It’s mourned differently and viewed differently. The chop suey name is because like the dish, it’s a bunch of stuff thrown in, just like the juxtaposition of tempos and varying levels of aggression with as you said, an angelic sound thrown in. It’s a bunch of different sounds that just work.

    • @matt-oo6fu
      @matt-oo6fu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually, "Chop Suey" was chosen because the record label wouldn't let them name the song "Suicide." Suey just sounds like suicide.

If I may suggest some bands to give you a diverse collection of metal: Opeth - Ghost of Perdition (Live at the Redrock), Dimmu Borgir - Gateways (Live at the Forces of the Northern Light), Lamb of God - Walk with me in Hell, Maximum the Hormone - Yoshu Fukushu, Carach Angren - The Funerary Dirge of a Violinist, Twelve Foot Ninja - One Handed Killing, Slipknot - Disaster pieces, Killswitch Engage - My Curse. There are so many different flavors of metal and they all bring something different to the table.

I have watched countless channels and often find they overreact, and never subscribe to any of them. I didn’t feel that with you, I thought you were sincere and that was confirmed when I saw how much more you knew about the band with each passing video. I love how you interpret the meaning of these songs and find you very humble and smart. So I subscribed. I was also thinking that I would love to see you react to System Of A Down, and here it is today 😊. You’ll love them if you give them a try. Serj Tankian, the lead singer, is no joke brother. Classically trained metal singer with a 4 octave range (that’s Freddy Mercury, Aguilera, Stephen Tyler range’s). Such a range is so unusual because the human voice is very limited and we use only a small part of it. This makes it very difficult to expand the vocal range and articulate such high notes. Check out some of his solo stuff too….. and don’t forget Marc Martel ;)

    Music can be a wonderful opportunity to share with your adolescents and children. Open up your mind to what your kids are listening to and you might surprise yourself and actually like what you hear. I listen to EVERYTHING pretty much and have opened up the minds of several people I know including my son and his friends, to a plethora of artists they were unaware of. My son brought a "new song" to me when he was about 12 and was surprised when I was singing along to it. He said how do you know this song? I had to tell him it was a remake of a song that was popular when I was a high schooler and told him the original artist. He tried to argue that his share was the only artist who did that song, and Mom had to take him to "Moms Music Camp" for a whole summer and we opened up our line of communication then. Adolescent boys are difficult to reach, and I am so happy that I didn't let the music be a huge obstacle between us like my parents made it be when I was growing up. At age 60 in just a couple months, I have been on a 4-year exploration down the rabbit hole of rap, hip hop, and country rap or hick-hop. It's been a wonderful journey, one taken side by side with my, as of today, permanent ex-boyfriend. Thanks to him and a shout out to Shane Askey, for the wonderful journey we have been on together. I must take a break from it for a while at least until my tears dry up, shock and profound sadness and heartbreak subside and not begin pouring out every time I listen to our favorite artists. It's music that brought us so close together and another woman, his mother, who ripped us apart. Doesn't that sound like a common theme for music, poetry, and movies? Be well all, and please do try this as a method of hopefully preventing a teen suicide as most parents are unaware of the messages in the music their kids are listening to and it can most definitely have a profound effect on their mental health when they have no adults to share their music with. Just a thought yall. I hope it works for you as well as it did with me and my son. We still share music artists, and conspiracy theories to this day.

When the era fully developed it became Powerman 5000, Linkin Park, P.O.D., Limp Biscuit, and Rage against the Machine. These guys caught the tail end of that era.

    Some times when people seek help it goes unheard. Professional help can be the only thing that comes close to actually getting some help. Yet often might feel to professional. Such as do they actually care or is it a pay check. Then there is medication a bandaid that soon or later needs to be increased or it's no longer effective. So their are still scars in the mind that's hard to heal. The closest thing to good help I have is music like this.

    Just found you channel and I'm loving the reactions. If you liked Freddie Mercury's voice, check out Chris Cornell. As much as I love Queen, Chris was to the first person to make me think of the human voice as an instrument. For an introduction Ito his vocal ability I'd suggest Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog, or Cochise by Audioslave. His live cover of Nothing Compares to You, is AMAZING and beautiful, and Shadow on the Sun by Audioslave is quite nice too. He has A LOT more, but I'd start here.

    SOAD is an amazing band, that's truth. They formed in 1994 under the name "Soil", but after the 2 original members left, it was only Serj and Daron. John and Shavo then joined, and they got the name "System Of A Down" based on a poem Daron written called "Victims of a Down".
    They made their self-titled album in 1998, and is known for their song 'Sugar'
    They made "Toxicity" in 2001, and is known for 'Prison Song', 'Chop Suey!', 'Toxicity', and 'Aerials'
    They made their, quote, underrated album, "Steal This Album!" in 2002 and is known for 'Chic 'N' Stu', and 'I-E-A-I-A-I-O'
    Then they made their two-part album "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize"
    Mezmerize is known for 'B.Y.O.B', 'Cigaro', 'Radio/Video', and 'Violent Pornography'
    Hypnotize is known for 'Hypnotize', 'Lonely Day', and 'Solider Side'
    After they released these two albums in 2005, they went on hiatus, before coming back together in 2010 to become a touring band, but in 2020, they released 2 new songs in response to the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war, since it was their newest songs in 15 years, they garnered pretty amazing reviews. Tankian said that System had something amazing planned for 2023, and this might have turned out to be the 'Sick New World' tour featuring 53 metal bands, including themselves, KoRn, Incubus, and the Deftones. But you never know, we could see a 6th album.

    Dude. So Serj Tankian is the lead singer. Between SOAD and his solo stuff he should really get his own category in music. He is really amazing and you should definitely check them out!

    This was the late 90's / early 2000's - Only very high budget movies / vidoes had 3d animation. None in this one. Some neat editing trickery though ;)

    Man, it's a pleasure to finally meet someone, who certainly understood what's the message was about from the first listening. Try Chris Cornell Like a Stone.

    I really appreciate you also analyzed the meaning of the song (even though with SOAD that can be a little difficult sometimes- one of their weirdest songs has lyrics like: 'banana banana banana banana terracotta banana terracotta terracotta pie'😂)
    SOAD is my *favorite* band and I'm so glad you discovered them too! They're really good with transitions and they are really crazy (lyrically and rhythmically)! If you want to hear some growling, try Needles/ Sugar / Prison Song / Know!
    But I reccomend you check out Toxicity, B.Y.O.B. (bring your own bombs) and Aerials first! They're all quite different from eachother, but they're all great songs! These songs (including Chop Suey) are kinda like a starter pack for new SOAD fans😂
    Give them a try (if not for a reaction, at least in your free time)! :)
