Bad Endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world/city/etc, something had to happen that, at best, creates a bitter sweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win after all your struggles. Sure, Game Overs CAN be scary too, but more often than not, all you'll get when you run out of lives is a simple "Game Over" message, possibly with the option to try again. Bad endings don't give you any second chances, you screwed things up for everyone and you must pay dearly...

The genie definitely takes on the traits of the person who rubs the lamp. Captain Syrup was evil, therefore so was the genie. When Wario rubbed the lamp, he got a genie that was willing to grant him a wish, but wanted a huge payment first. Which is Wario's personality perfectly. He's greedy and wants money but overall, a decent guy!
I wouldn’t say Syrup is evil, as more of… she is gunhoe in killing anyone who dares to mock her. She is a pirate, after all.
Wario Planet should have been a secret level in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

everything would be happy. the most lucious plants and gardens and the clearest, purest water the Wii graphics could handle, very colorful. pure marble and gold bricks for the mansion. red velvet carpets, banners, and the most comfy furniture.
***** Probably some cities with buildings (which have Wario noses of course),most of the restaurants serve garlic (even and food with garlic),and all of the citizens have wario faces (and are greedy like wario),and Wario would probably be the president of the Wario Planet,plus that most of the citizens have houses which are millionaire villas (While Wario lives in a billionaire villa)

At least Wario didn't inherit excessive wealth from his parents like most temporary celebrities I hear of sometimes. He put a lot of effort into fulfilling his greed!
Kieran Nicholl i know wario may be greedy and selfish but it isn't fair maybe he got from his parents or maybe he's insulted / teased / bullied i rather see him in his own planet or castle instead of a stupid pathetic birdhouse beside he's not that bad

as a kid I found the planet ending to be really confusing, first he magically levitates off the ground(without the genie being present on screen), he exits the atmosphere that happens to be only a few feet from the ground. then right away he arrives at his planet and stands on it as if it was in the foreground along with him. then he starts walking back and forth in space. I know now that I was looking too deep into it, but as a kid I took everything literally.

This DOES make me wonder though: If Wario has opurtunities to get THAT much money, why doesn't he just buy a house himself? It's not like coins are sparse in the Mario universe.
Instead he has to wish for it, and the wish isn't even free.
At least its an instant house, I mean, you can't get a planet with just a lot of money. And this genie makes you a planet and he makes it in seconds.
He just needs to go play New Super Mario Bros 2. He'd be able to buy a universe without even trying.

Don't be so hasty: Remember that There's TONS of gold coins in the Super Mario Bros. universe. Thus, it would have only a fraction of the value it has in the real world.
That's a good point actually...Specially considering that each coin is the size of a person, so gold must have shitty value too...BUT then again, Mario's, and in this case Wario's, adventures take place in dangerous lands of floating platforms and Bowsers goons, so no-one normal would survive long enough to get all those coins. Maybe only a tiny fraction of the Mushroom Kingdoms currency is actually in circulation, while like 70% of it is scattered across areas no Toad may tread?

Why's working a Junk Yard a bad thing? Pay is decently good for anyone I've met doing it. I've picked junk from a professional junkyard cuz I needed parts and frankly it isn't such a drag.
The ending of Wario Land Shake it made me laugh when he credits rolled, but then you have the epilogue..

This also gets Wario an entire forest as seen in Wario Woods.
Actually, having a planet seems kind of creepy to me. Is it a hospitable one? What if it's covered with poisonous gases? Will Wario have to cut down swaths of trees and work in a quarry to make his castle? What if there are creatures on it that he has to displace from their homes?
Also, what if in the future Wario becomes the tyrannical overlord of the planet and turns into a final boss?
I'm mostly kidding. It was just fun to think up those things.
The last one wouldn't be surprising. He was already the final boss once.

4:42 I find it neat how to work around the color limitations of the original Game Boy, having a fire flower adds some feather on your hat instead of reversing the colors of Mario.

No it isn't possible. I had just a little bit in my pocket upon my first time beating the game, so just that little bit over 300 coins. Lovely birdhouse.
Debug or hack the game, but I think that would cause the game to crash. I could imagine Wario getting nothing or getting a hill, so the W thing cannot stand there.
But cheer up, Wario later collects more money and gets a planet!
Except the planet is probably not even a planet even smaller than an island

I think that it's meant to explain why Captain Syrup became such a famous pirate as the money she looted was cashed in to the genie for wishes like to have a strong and loyal pirate crew and in some cases for the genie to be her bodyguard. In a way, it can be assumed that Wario might have unintentionally saved the world as Syrup could have offered the statue to the genie in order to wish to become the ruler of the world.

LOL! Yeah first time I completed this I got the pagoda. I kept playing it again and again after that and was really surprised and pleased by the Wario Planet ending. This was enlightening - because I always had all the treasures, I never saw the (canonical, it seems) castle ending. Thanks 4 the upload!
@MarioMastar What with my fear of bad endings, I always made sure to get all the chests in all three of my playthroughs of the game, so I always got the perfect ending and never saw the female Wario until I saw a picture of it recently. Though I wish I missed at least one chest because the Younger Princess Shoroka looks much cuter than the version of her in the perfect ending.
After all these years, only now have I noticed the april fools part consisted of 12 words.
Or at least the part leading up to it.

+Gvullap Sbatilel Methinks the Genie (named Denpu in Japan) is not really demanding payment as much as he wants to know how much money Wario has to maintain his home-to-be. It is not enough to buy a castle bigger than Mario's; Wario will need to maintain it: plumbing (of course, being a Mario spinoff), gas, electricity, furniture, food, etc. He conjures a home based on Wario's accumulated wealth: birdhouse (300 to 10,071), hollow tree trunk (10,072 to 40,007), log cabin (40,008 to 70,007), pagoda (70,008 to 90,007), castle (90,008 to 99,998, intended, canonical wish), and planetoid (99,999+). Defeating Denpu nets 300 obligatory coins, hence the lower limit for the Birdhouse.
I think a planetoid manages itself pretty well, to be honest.

Anyone else think the Mario Land series should be remade into a game that combines Mario Land 1 & 2, with Mario Land 3 being the postgame?
Here's how I could see it working...
For the final stage Mario's about to fight Tatanga when Luigi takes control of the ship and defeats Tatanga. They (Mario, Luigi, and Daisy) fly to Luigi's mansion, where they all spend the night because they're tired from the ordeal. While Daisy and the Mario Bros are resting at night, Wario and his forces take over Castle Mario setting up the events of the second half of the game . The bosses would be under his employ, or simply fighting for their own reasons. Upon being beaten in the final battle, Wario would flee and set sail in search of treasure, overhearing about the genie's lamp from Captain Syrup's crew in a cutscene after the credits. Then the postgame (the events of Mario Land 3) would begin.
Super Mario Land 2. So good. Classic.
You did such a good job with this video. I especially liked the smooth way you added all the coins/treasures o their places, as though you acquired them all at once. Not fast paced, but didn't need to be. A pleasant experience. ^_^
The little "treasure found" song that plays when you grab one is possibly the best item theme I've heard in my gaming career.
@M30W3R and @MarioMastar I was going to include that ending in this video, but I felt it was long enough already. (I never realize how long this videos become whilst making them) I guess I should make a Creepy Bad Endings Extra for it.
The log cabin ending perhaps is the house in warioware that is moved to the big city and rebuilt.

Dude let's take it easy I didn't know the game had different Endings... Dude for Example Undertale Not Everyone Spared the First boss by accident...meanwhile other people did. In this case I didn't collect the Treasure because I didn't knew those help to get a better ending... Sorry I just didn't knew Man.... besides is better than the Bird House 😉

@MarioMastar I haven't played Master of Disguise yet, but my brother actually has the game, so I'm not sure why. Maybe it's because I hear it's not as good as Wario's other adventures, at least according to the professionals, but they didn't rave much about Wario Land II & III, yet they're among my favourite games ever, so the professionals could be idiots.
I feel so bad for Wario. His face... I almost cried.

The only real bad ending in Mario is for Waluigi. Bowser rules a kingdom (fairly well when he's not trying to fuck over Mario), Mario has a fairly peaceful life, Luigi gets a mansion, Wario has a successful business, even the original Donkey Kong turned out fine as Cranky Kong, Peach, Daisy, Toad, Yoshi, everyone's doing fine.
Waluigi on the other hand doesn't really have anything on his own. Put him in Smash already you-

I didn't even know it was possible to get the bird house. Just playing through the game normally, I got the tree. Then I found out how to get the planet, so I did all of that. It was a really fun game, and I'm currently playing the second one.

@MarioMastar I always 100% his games as well, and I'm proud to say I done so with Wario Land 2, 3, 4 and The Shake Dimension without any help whatsoever. I have no time for the needy, but the greedy mean everything to me.
The genie captain syrup attacks Wario with, has the same cry is Alpha, Gamma, and Zeta Metroids in Metroid II: Return of Samus!

I love the original Game Boy M/Wario games. They're all easy -- I got especially good at speed-running the final level in Mario Land 2 -- but have fantastic gameplay with spectacular graphics and sound for such a tiny device back in the day. Those in Warioland utilise some especially clever programming tricks for wonderful results, I just love it so much.
And to think old Shiggy had nothing to do with these games either!
And then Daisy figured out how to hold her own so Mario could get his castle back. I think Peach needs lessons. lol
