Hi very good instructional video thank you. I’ve got a problem I hope you can help me with please. I followed your video on my Peugeot 1.2 PureTech. I’ve gone wrong somewhere, the engine started after some coaxing but sounded like a bag of spanners so turned it off. Tried again after a few checks, it went into limp mode still ticking over, turned it off. No faults show from obd2 port although a message on the car’s screen said low oil pressure. I tried once more it wouldn’t start and it sounded like there was no pressure, or the belt had snapped. Took it apart today belt is ok although it is riding to far right on the cam phasers and to far left or forward on the crank sprocket. It’s almost coming off the crank. (Could to much tension on the belt do that) one more thing (sorry) with the crank in the same position as in your video ie 9 o’clock my cam marks are at 8 o’clock instead of 5 o’clock. Is my timing out or does the Peugeot have a different setup. Thanks again.
@@How2FixIt1 I meant to but I got carried away and forgot. It’s a trait I’ve had all my life. I have a new Opel Mokka 2021 (New Mokka) with an engine EB2ADTD. I have a strange vibration in the cabin. The problem can be heard in this video (best from 8 sec): th-cam.com/users/shortsXROtr_3lFKM When I turn off the engine, the vibration intensifies for 1-2 seconds and then stops. I have a suspicion that this has something to do with the timing belt or the accessory belt. I think so because one of the Mokka owner's had a similar problem on a similar car (similar engine) and after replacing the belt all the sounds disappeared. My problem gets worse if I turn off the air conditioning (climate). If I turn it on, the sound is much quieter or there is no sound at all. The mileage is only 10,000 km and the car is 3 years old. Maybe you have some ideas? Could this sound be the cause of problems with the timing belt, belts and rollers?
You started with a turbo engine and then changed to a non turbo The cam holding kit is different on each. You removed the brake servo pump to install the locking kit and then later showed the cam locking kit on a normal aspirated engine Also you dont have to remove the fuel pump or fuel rail on either. I have done loads of these as it's my job so I know what I am talking about Uploading a video doing a wet belton 2 different engines is misleading

Best engine would be one of at least 1.4-1.6L with indirect injection, no turbo and normal timing belt (which is cheap to replace). You think this is complicated? Look at the Prince engine, if you wanna see what complicated means 🤣
Wow seems like a time consuming and expensive maintenance item. I'll stick with a traditional timing belt, timing chain or OHV engine. This is the same garbage used on the new 2024 Chevy Trax 1.2 liter 3 cylinder engine.

A lot to digest there. Firstly did you use a locking kit and did you mark up the belts new and old?
@@How2FixIt1 I meant to but I got carried away and forgot. It’s a trait I’ve had all my life. I locked the flywheel, with the camshaft I locked them in place with washers in the teeth held by nut and bolt, the ex cam did move so I put it back in place using a spanner on the cam flat bit. So I followed your vi but others as well. Another bad trait is I’m a tight wad also I can never make my mind up.
I should have broke the long msg down apologies again.
@@How2FixIt1 Thanks for the swift reply.
@@stephenkerry5660did you fix it?
Excellent video
Thanks!
Dose the engine start if its wet belt
Don’t quite understand your question. Please explain more. Thanks.
@@How2FixIt1 you know when you had this issue with your car. Were you able to start the engine before changing the timing belt ? Cuz i have Peugeot 208 1.2 petrol. Its not starting is it timing belt or something els ?
@@benyaminreza yes it would start before. It just caused a fault code when first accelerated in morning. Caused by slow oil pressure. It could be a number of things. Tell me how many miles it’s covered.
@@How2FixIt1 77000.
It was fine runing very well and i parked for a few weeks then i tried to start it was starting . We push the car and jump start . I drive like 2 hr agin i couldn't start it . I have chnaged sperk and coail but still not starting
@@benyaminreza does it sound like there is compression when cranking engine. Or does it sound free spinning?
How long did this job take to do roughly?
It’s about a 5 hour job with sump off and strainer clean.
@@How2FixIt1 Als je weet wat je moet doen en andere gereedschap hebt vervangen je zo riem in 1 a 1.5 uur.
Can you tell me all the parts that you have changed? (or, seal, gasket, ecc)
Sure. Thanks for the comment.
I used a timing belt kit with belt, tensioner and guide. The locking timing tool kit from laser. New oil psa! And filter. Sealant for sump and upper cam casing.
@@How2FixIt1 thanks for the reply, was it difficult to fit the water pump belt? since it does not have a tensioner
@@cascio100 no. It’s best to loosely put belt on pump then on to loose crank pulley offering up to crank then staring the pulley bolts. Then tighten them evenly. This I found to be the easiest way.
Hi, i changed my 1.2 thp timing belt too. After change i tried to start engine but there is no compression. I used lock tool, i think timing ok. What do you think about that ? Did you take air from fuel rail, may it the cause ?
Thanks for the comment. Did you torque/tighten pulleys. And tensioner. Can you confirm no compression with tester. There won’t be air in fuel system this runs a huge pressures on modern gdi engines. Double check all you multi plugs and wiring! You may have left something.
@@How2FixIt1 i will check all then write you again. thnx for your answer.
Did you try replacing your oil filter and pump?
What was the cause after ?
@@pimbrokken yes
is this though fixing the problem Permanent? customer came today with the same issue.... is there a TSB or new style of belt so this wont happen again?
Thanks for your comment. This is a serviceable item so it’s going to need replacement again within manufacturers recommendations and or when fault occurs again in about 40k.
Check for Dunlop's timing belt for the 1.2 puretech which is upgraded to resist more
@@spanish111japan thanks for the information
Avoid all this hassle buy a Japanese car
No. Just buy an EV.
Agreed. And I own a Mazda 6 Skyactiv diesel. Even those engines are less hassle than a wet belt motor
Toyota aygo has the same engine .
toooop man thank you good vedio
Thanks.
This is a job i would definately pay a garage to do. Too much at stake if it goes wrong.
To move the airbox back, just unscrew the 2 engine cover clip posts. Then you can push it back.
Producer: How much stupid should it be? Psa: yes! .
Good vid Masha Allah
Hope GM or whoever makes this engine grows up and revises the design to have a chain. This is so stupid. Its already drowning in oil, just use a chain
It should last longer but in reality breaks up, clogs the oil strainer and wrecks the engine at very low mileages😒
Dont understand the wet belt thing. In the past (before the bmw era) they used timing belt on the outside of the engine and it was fine.
I have a new Opel Mokka 2021 (New Mokka) with an engine EB2ADTD. I have a strange vibration in the cabin. The problem can be heard in this video (best from 8 sec): th-cam.com/users/shortsXROtr_3lFKM
When I turn off the engine, the vibration intensifies for 1-2 seconds and then stops.
Peugeot considère leurs clients comme responsable de leurs incompétences en ingénierie
Where did the French get the idea of a timing belt in oil. I don't understand that logic.
I know. Think they was in it with everyone, nice idea in theory but in practice mmm!
Ford came up with it actually
@@spanish111japan and ford has troubles too
Dayco is the company making the belt and has issues recalls, the new Stellantis engines run on chains from 2022
@@HologramJonesmine from 2023 has timing belt
You started with a turbo engine and then changed to a non turbo
The cam holding kit is different on each. You removed the brake servo pump to install the locking kit and then later showed the cam locking kit on a normal aspirated engine
Also you dont have to remove the fuel pump or fuel rail on either.
I have done loads of these as it's my job so I know what I am talking about
Uploading a video doing a wet belton 2 different engines is misleading
is allemaal niet nodig wat je los haalt. Er is al speciaal gereedschap al voor gemaakt dat dit al niet meer een hoeft. Natte riem vervangen 1 a 1.5 uur werk.
Welk gereedschap heb je hiervoor?
Why would anyone in their right mind buy such complicated crap!
Ford's ecoboost engine also has wet belt.
Other than that, such a small engine with direct injection and turbo wont have a very long life.
The 1.2 Puretech is a real disgrace, I paid more than €3300 for a new engine before the previous one completed €100,000kms. Weak quality! Don't spend your money on cars of this group!
damn this engine is like kleenex tissue!!!! poor people that buy a crappy car
This piece of junk has also made its way into many Italian vehicles.
Superior Italian engines should have replaced the French. But Stellantis has a Portuguese CEO with a background in the French car industry, and he's a bean counter, not a car lover.
Bad design
PURETECK ESTELLANTIS 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
