    Hi Michael, when do you need to change your clubs? I was custom fit 2 1/2 years ago and my handicap has come in 15 shots. Would these clubs still be serving me well? I'm watching this very closely, as my handicap is 10 - I haven't broken 80 yet, but close.

    • @wickedsmartgolf
      @wickedsmartgolf  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      First off nice job, 15 shots in 2.5 years is amazing! For such a drastic drop, I would consider a fitting to see how your clubs are performing. If it was only a shot or two and/or haven't made swing changes, probably not worth it. But chances are your swing speed has increased and might need different shafts too. Keep up the good work!

    Rule #1: have hundreds (or thousands) of dollars.

    • @wickedsmartgolf

      It’s definitely not a cheap sport. But short game practice is normally free, indoor putting mat, & buying used clubs help

    • @bobgomez9249
      @bobgomez9249 22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@wickedsmartgolf I think he's talking about the price of getting fitted as nobody does fittings for older generations of clubs.
      You end up having to pay hundreds of dollars for the fittings + thousands of dollars for the clubs that they fit you for.
      It's unfortunate, but the vast majority of golfers do not have the financial means to get fitted because of the exploitative ways that golf companies go about the process of fitting people.
      A used set of burners, a garage sale putter and a ping g30, a decent pair of golf shoes, costco gloves and a bag of used balls will run you less than 400$USD. There are a million golf courses where you can play 18 holes for less than 50$ ( that's 10$/hour entertainment ).
      Golf is not expensive in itself, but the industry is predatorial towards less experienced golfers who are led to believe that they MUST spend THOUSANDS to even play..

    • @wickedsmartgolf
      @wickedsmartgolf  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@bobgomez9249 definitely not a cheap sport... but a fitting can be as simple as $150 to make sure your equipment is right, changing lie angles, figuring out if you have the right shaft, realizing distance gaps, and trying out new clubs. Doesn't mean you need to buy them but if you do it's always good to buy slightly used, sell old clubs online, etc. Lotta ways to make it happen just have to be creative

    • @rickhubble7498

      @wickedsmartgolf  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@rickhubble7498 not saying you need custom clubs I"m saying a custom fitting can help you figure out if you need upright/flat lies. If you're a lower handicap golfer with faster swing speed you might need an upgrade shaft but I think it's so key to make sure equipment is right for you.

    Driver more often? Nah! I don't play with a driver and score 78-82. My advice ... Learn how to chip and putt, 2 putt drills, practice 4 swing yrds 200, 150, 100, 50, divide par 4s by 2, par 5s by 3, tee off those approx yrds, And play front tees. There's no rule against playing the course at the shortest distance.

      I hit my driver 240 meters. I don't use it in competitions. Bad drive costs you the hole, period. I use a 5-iron off the tee. Rarely out.

    • @ejtullis
      @ejtullis 19 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @youview5023 ... guess I'm the GOOF. There is no need for insults if you disagree. I seriously doubt a golfer that's very consistent with a driver hitting fairways 275+ yards is struggling to break 80. If so, "using the driver more" is not the problem. That's why I said ... nah. Generally, golfer struggling to break 80 (or 90) lose strokes in the tee box because of miss hits with a driver. But if you disagree, our advice may help someone play better golf.

  • @NogoalRob
    @NogoalRob หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    Rule #1 is NOT true. In a fitting the fitter always deletes your poor shots making it look like the new club is better than your current gamer. Example: current irons may not have hit a poor shot, but travels 5 yards shorter. The fitter makes you try another iron, deletes 2-3 poor shots and thus that iron performs better. When In actuality it doesn’t! Happened to me twice already and finally figured it out. This coming from a 4 hdcp player.

    • @xxthadeucexx
      @xxthadeucexx หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is true. Just because your fitter was bad doesn't mean having PROPERLY fitted clubs doesn't help. I'm a 4.6 index and had an amazing fitting that helped me improve 2strokes over just a couple of months of playing the right equipment. If having PROPERLY fit clubs doesn't make a difference, play for $100 a hole and play some random person's clubs.
