    In terms of random targets vs static, I’ll go down to the sim room and pick out a par 3 or spot in the fairway and hit shots for half an hour or whatever. It’s cool…like you’re playing a famous golf hole with no worries cause they’ve closed the course for only you to play😁

  • @Skyking6976
    @Skyking6976 19 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Love going in the sim studio this time of year. Being mid-60’s I don’t practice a lot. However some sessions will only be practice. Mostly I’ll hit a few wedges, 7 iron, and driver swings. If everything is good, I’ll play 9 or 18. I can open the portal back at the recliner and review every shot overlaid on the course, with more shot data than you could ever want. The problem with a sim is watching a video or reading an article about the golf swing. You go try it in the sim cause it’s free…no bucket of balls to buy and you end up going down a rabbit hole🙄

    Nice work! Can you talk about distance control methods for chipping? A lot is covered on setup and clubs for it, but actually controlling distance would be good. Ive been basing it on length of swing being ankle, calf, knee.. and with a 56 deg, i know the roll out will be about 50% of distance carried.

    Great stuff... I just came back to golf 3 years ago after a 10 year hiatus. And just came back to competitive golf this past year. It's been a struggle, mainly because of my wedge game and chipping... And mental/nerves, lol... I created a new wedge matrix at the end of the summer, and made it a priority to practice it at least 2 of my 3 sessions per week. Have dropped 3-4 strokes per round after about 2 months of sticking with it. Currently playing off of a 4.3, hoping to see scratch or better in the next year... Also recently purchased your 1st book, it's a great read so far... Keep up the great content Michael!... Cheers from Iowa.

    Well 1 thing he said seemed very true in my experience with PGA teaching pros, I've had about 20 lessons in my lifetime from pros and what they most seem to care about is do I have time and money. I've had 2 lessons from other decent golfers ( ones a tax guy, and the other a cardiologist ) both friends of mine and I learned way more from the 2 non pros and basically was taught to walk up to the ball from behind from the pros. The shame of it is with very little effort the pros could actually be teaching something as they do it with celebrity clients all the time but it seems to me if you are just a regular working guy, forget about it. My experience anyway.

      @wickedsmartgolf which is fine. This video showed up in my algorithm as a beginning golf player with questions about things like this. I suppose friendly advice would be to figure the target audience of your videos. If you're aiming for people like me I would even start with basics like what is standard overlap? I honestly have no idea. I assume that if my pinky is over my other hand that's an overlap. Just food for thought. Knowing that you're telling me go with standard overlap doesn't change what I do and don't know nor does it help me make any changes. The way I watched this video I assume you guys mean switch to a baseball bat style swing. Is that right?

    i knew it! i started golfing later in life but i began and continue to play with my baseball grip. tried the interlock but never made it through a range session without going back to baseball grip. vardon grip is better than interlock and lasts longer at the range but I always revert back to baseball. my thinking is, if you can't keep your hands in the same place on the club from start to finish, having your hands disconnected isn't the issue!

    I agree in general with the logic, closer is better. However, each hole layout can change that risk reward ratio. I play to a 3.5 index and I find for high handicaps having a sense of confidence is most important. So if that is 100 yards then so be it.

Scores were trending in right direction though even though finished at 12. Had chance now to reset and build a plan for the off season and now aiming for 5 by the end of next year. Good advice. I play the ball too forward in my stance with wedges because I feel like I'd come in too steep when back in stance.

    I see comments of people saying this would take too long. His process explained in words takes longer than the actual process is. And why can't much of this visualization, etc happen before it's our turn to play? I almost never wait for other people to play before I hit my shot except on the tee box. If I'm 40 yards away from someone and they begin their pre-shot routine, I start mine too. I am already calculating, visualizing, making a couple practice swings, and then my ball is flying a second or two after they hit their shot. No need to model how PGA tour guys do it, except for Brooks Koepka. If everybody played like him, golf would be much better.

      If every amateur practiced an efficient routine & took it to the course they would play more like Brooks

    GOLFERS confuse shot dispersion with inconsistency. If slice every tee shot you are very consistent, but you don't admit it as golfers want every shot to be dead Centre of club every time and consistently fly 250 m with driver every tee shot instead of playing with slice and learning to score.

    I just literally switched back to basic chip my last round. Put my 58&54 degree away unless I need it to go high or it’s in a bunker Keep it low tumble it right next to the hole as if ur putting with loft

    Excellent tips Michael. It's Winter in Boston as you know, but I WILL work on swinging 100 times daily, weight training, mobility program that my friend Michael Sassarossi created for me and will read your book again. Just purchased the grip you recommended. I already have a speed stick and will use that as well. Thank you, I appreciate you and your encouragement. - Woody
