Republic’s liberal market economics left many disenfranchised, leading to the foundation of the CIS. Jedi order stood by The Republic even with its imperfections b/c “democracy”. Palpatine plays both sides of the ensuing CIS v. Republic conflict which lasts 3 years and gives him central authority. He uses his power to create social programs based on military service, garnering him widespread support. Kind of a retroactive parable.
I just realized how close this is to Vladimir Lenin's statement, "food, bread, and peace from the first world war." During the war, the tsar also ignored the needs of the citizens for the war effort like the republic.
I can't wait to see the Kamino Rebellion and see where it leads them. We already know that at least crosshair ends up surviving long enough to live with Rex in Rebels. I feel like this is gonna reveal crucial info into the following story arcs
@@abdullahbajrami6816 In legends: "Officially there never was a clone rebellion on Kamino. Unofficially. Approximately 20 years after we were created. A special detachment of the imperial 501st legion was dispatched to Kamino. With orders to eradicate an army of clones that had been bread to take arms against the empire." - 501st journals
Palpatine's orchestration of the Clone Wars was the final step to convincing the people that the Jedi are enemies of the people, rather than the guardians. This was something he schemed with his master Darth Plagueis before his death. The Clone Wars was the perfect propaganda to show that the Jedi had all the power to help the galaxy even before the Clone Wars began, but did nothing to stop it. The war gave Palpatine the fuel he needed to stir up the image that the Jedi made things worse for the people by putting the Clone Wars first before the galaxy's populace. Near the end of the war, demonizing the Jedi as traitors to the people became very easy, as they would be easily seen as militants who wanted to maintain the status quo, rather than create change that could help reshapen the galaxy, and that their persona as "keepers of peace" was all just a facade to fool the people and maintain their power within the severely corrupt Republic that they continued to defend.
When you think about it, the arc after Ahsoka leaves the Jedi Order can really reflect the stormtroopers. Neither one had the full picture and not just on the grand scale like how Palpatine was orchestrating the entire Clone Wars. I mean on just a small scale. Stormtroopers patrolling an outerworld planet where the people are starving might think "We're doing everything we can" or "They chose this life" or "It's not our job." Ahsoka never knew how bad people under the Republic's rule lived until that arc, and she didn't know how despised the Jedi were. Perhaps the stormtroopers couldn't see everything on the other side either. Rebels were rebels, they want chaos, destruction, and death. The Empire offered order and security (so long as you obeyed and so long as you don't get caught in the middle).
I like to think the Jedi back then were mostly seen by the public in a similar way to how the police are seen are mostly viewed today by many US citizens. That even though their stated purpose is to protect and serve everyone, the truth is they only serve the elites and their institutions. For the Jedi, most probably never even interacted with the average galactic citizen and their main purpose was to enforce the orders of the Senate and given missions by them.
Both Canon and Legends show why Galactic Civilians join the Empire For people in the Core Worlds, they’re traumatized by the Clone Wars. They want to protect their people and homeworlds from threats, to prevent war from harming their world It’s also for a job, as being a Stormtrooper guarantee pay and shelter, and could lead to more benefits being promoted to officers For people within and out the Core, the reasons are similar, as at certain areas, the Empire truly did seem like a peacekeeping force that fight pirates, and other threats to local worlds It’s only as time went on, the brutal evil face of the Empire became gradually more apparent Events like the battle of Lothal, Mandalore, Jedha, and Yavin all reveal the true evil face of the Empire to not only civilians but Imperials as well, as the Empire was willing to destroy the worlds they promised to protect. Thus causing defections to the Rebellion
A lot of people forget the Republic was for the last 500 years corrupt, weak and didn’t allow for upward mobility. If the Jedi focused more on solving the underlying issues instead of the surface problems they could’ve delayed the ascension of the sith by centuries if not altogether. After all the Rule of Two Sith was both at the height of its power but also nearing its end.
Civilian armies have always been more beneficial to securing popular support for government than mercenary or servile military forces like the Clone Army, per Machiavelli.
this was a good video on this subject, plus to add on to it. i bet it is also why normal people easily turned and forgot the jedi. becuase to them, the jedi never freed slaves or took down crime bosses when palpatine would
Being honest, I prefer Legends were Stormtroopers were separate from the Imperial Army and were loyal to the point of zealotry and even Leia admitting they'd probably never be able to get them to defect. But, I can appreciate this angle to. I'll take what I can get when it come to my Stormies getting some love.
They hinted at this in Resistance as well. The New Republic proved to be ineffective and many were willing to welcome the First Order go bring back some sense of stability.
I would like to know how the economy of the SW universe works? The scale is absolutely enormous compared to anything we have and maybe that's part of the lack of understanding; maybe we can't explain it because we have no point of reference.
That's why I think George Lucas Got inspiration for the Empire and Palpatine by studying ww2 and specifically Nazi Ruled Germany not all Germans where Nazis but felt so loyal to Hitler cause he gave them hope all the while ruining the world behind there backs he was truly evil but captivating at the same time he was gifted at speaking just as Palpatine is
Why I liked the Rebels more than the Stormtroopers is that even with an empty stomach, no roof under their heads, and half of the galaxy out to get them. They never lost sight of what is right and wrong. Stormtroopers are just weak willed civilians bent to the will of an individual while Rebels would do anything to achieve what must be done. And why the Stormtroopers are worst? They would also do "anything" to achieve their goals. With all the resources in the universe, the empire would stoop so low as to become monsters in the eyes of its people. It's pathetic really...
I feel more for stromtroopers to be honest, they are just Natural beings who want to earn their living. For them it's just about food, shelter. Clone troopers must have put these fighters livelihood in ruin. Maybe palpatine won their trust like this.
To most imperial citizens the rebels were terrorists destroying their saving grace for a reason unimportant to them. And that is what the rebels in the end are, a terrorist group no different in tactics than the terrorists in our world. The difference being that they are hailed as heroes by the film with their war crimes and atrocities never shown on screen. If the Empire was our government we would probably damn the rebels and fight as ferociously as the stormtroopers do. In fact the rebels were purposely modeled after vietcong and latin American guerilla fighters as Lucas himself stated.
Ones motives to commit evil actions dose not make them less evil. Our action determin whether we are good or evil, motives and beliefs are irrelevant. Would we think a child molester is any less evil just becase he thought he had good reason. That's something to think about before we make excuses for peoples actions just because they may or may not had good intentions.

Palpatine’s goal from the start was to eradicate the Jedi Order.
Happy birthday gorge lucas
Both Canon and Legends show why Galactic Civilians join the Empire
For people in the Core Worlds, they’re traumatized by the Clone Wars. They want to protect their people and homeworlds from threats, to prevent war from harming their world
It’s also for a job, as being a Stormtrooper guarantee pay and shelter, and could lead to more benefits being promoted to officers
For people within and out the Core, the reasons are similar, as at certain areas, the Empire truly did seem like a peacekeeping force that fight pirates, and other threats to local worlds
It’s only as time went on, the brutal evil face of the Empire became gradually more apparent
Events like the battle of Lothal, Mandalore, Jedha, and Yavin all reveal the true evil face of the Empire to not only civilians but Imperials as well, as the Empire was willing to destroy the worlds they promised to protect.
3:27 Hey! That's my phone background
Really enjoying this bad batch , much much better than clone wars
this was a good video on this subject, plus to add on to it. i bet it is also why normal people easily turned and forgot the jedi. becuase to them, the jedi never freed slaves or took down crime bosses when palpatine would
Being honest, I prefer Legends were Stormtroopers were separate from the Imperial Army and were loyal to the point of zealotry and even Leia admitting they'd probably never be able to get them to defect.
But, I can appreciate this angle to. I'll take what I can get when it come to my Stormies getting some love.
Good soliders follow orders 😈
you should'nt blindly follow orders especilly if you know there wrong
@@joshlyon1315 you would if you’ve been told all you’re life that they aren’t.

Loyalty to the empires
What if Boba fett created to Clone Facilities in Tatooine as same as Jango Fett Dna?
Boba is a clone, so his clones might become deformed, something about a copy of a copy of a copy gets broken because something something.
@@isakisak9989 Makes no sense...
The only one’s that had aim in the Empire was death troopers.
Crosshire tells them good soldier's follow orders
Then the question remains... what made people hate the empire during the original trilogy BESIDES the main cast
The opression of the outer rim worlds, that's where most rebels came from
While the Jedi were playing checkers palpatine was playing chess
I am excited to see clones vs stormtroopers in the show it reminds me of star Wars battlefront 2 2005
It would be clones vs clones.Because the 501st did attack
They hinted at this in Resistance as well. The New Republic proved to be ineffective and many were willing to welcome the First Order go bring back some sense of stability.
I would like to know how the economy of the SW universe works? The scale is absolutely enormous compared to anything we have and maybe that's part of the lack of understanding; maybe we can't explain it because we have no point of reference.
I mean it was obvious from the start. They are soldiers like no other. They join up because of what they believe in its as simple as that.
That's not what the video said. Also it's not what real world soldiers do. In both cases they join for economic reasons.
See now i feel bad for every clone trooper dying bc they just tryna live their lives
This guy is good, however I have one serious complaint, the volume on these videos is so quiet I can't here at full volume
3:43 Joke's on them because it turned out to be *false hope*
Am i the only one that thinks that the Womem Stormtrooper with dark hakr looks like Iden Versio?
She’s too young at the time. It doesn’t work.
Also she is clueless on how brutal the empire is in the game
This makes sense
Today is Lucas's birthday. All hail the king.
I believe the prequels were the best thing for Star Wars. Just didn’t see it back when the Phantom came out.
That's why I think George Lucas Got inspiration for the Empire and Palpatine by studying ww2 and specifically Nazi Ruled Germany not all Germans where Nazis but felt so loyal to Hitler cause he gave them hope all the while ruining the world behind there backs he was truly evil but captivating at the same time he was gifted at speaking just as Palpatine is
It's been explained many times before. They get food, shelter, and money.
It’s more like Roman Republic vs Roman Empire
A lot of this actully sounds like people in the Weimar republic who were willing to follow Hitler (Der fuher)
That's the point sergeant
How did I just get a notification now
And then said trooper was shot by his own commanding officer
I've said it for years, the Empire wasn't wrong. Lol
Xenophobic Galactic Empire? Wrong. Pellaeon's Imperial Remnant and the Fel Empire? Correct.
It was all kinds of wrong lmao, it just knew how to manipulate people
For everyone who criticizes Disney they Keep Star Wars Channels Fresh and in business at least
Makes no sense, so why did all the crowds on many worlds cheer and celebrate when the emperor died then if people wanted stability in an Empire?
I guess the destruction of Alderaan changed a lot of minds
CLONES
Do we know how the clones were finally disposed of?
Good birbs eat seeds
To most imperial citizens the rebels were terrorists destroying their saving grace for a reason unimportant to them.
And that is what the rebels in the end are, a terrorist group no different in tactics than the terrorists in our world.
The difference being that they are hailed as heroes by the film with their war crimes and atrocities never shown on screen.
If the Empire was our government we would probably damn the rebels and fight as ferociously as the stormtroopers do.
In fact the rebels were purposely modeled after vietcong and latin American guerilla fighters as Lucas himself stated.
Thats why many people say what happened to the empire... they thought they were good
If they were worried about loyalty they should have used droids.
I think that would be bad PR since The Empire just came out of a war against the largest droid army in history.
If ppl saw the Empire as the good guys, why did so many planets throw celebrations after their defeat in Return of the Jedi?
They were considered good guys at first until their brutality settled In
Did he actually just upload a video where half of it was not advertising merchandise? Wow !
