Another thing I've noticed as to why clones became ineffective is because of their programming after Order 66. Their responses and behaviors are strictly fixed and immutable, much like an AI having a limited number of ways to respond to an individual. And if the clones' programming is limited, then anyone forming a rebellion can study the troopers and their behaviour without a sweat. And that would be threatening for a rising Empire.
    EDIT: Just some grammatical fixes.

By the time of the Original Trilogy in Legends canon, the Imperial military was comprised of one of three categories:
    1. Jango Fett clones which largely made up the 501st and in fact the 501st was the only part of the Imperial military that was allowed to have Fett clones exclusively.
    2. Clones from other templates, now this process would fall victim to nepotism and things like that.

The way I always interpreted the ending of clones was that they were no longer viable after the empire took over the galaxy. The separatist basically had an unlimited amount of droid production. Pumping millions out at a time. Clones needed to be fiercely intelligent and capable to battle such numbers. After the fall of the republic and the rise of the empire, there really was no other opposition with such capabilities of production. The rebels that to be fair, the empire created, were just rag tag groups of people. Clones would’ve been over kill to the rebels but palpatine wanting a viable “enemy.”

DNA running out in Star Wars was actually a thing that they added as part of the story. It seems that for a massive galactic scale government, this shouldn't have been an issue. But that is in fact an issue they had. Shaak Ti talked about getting a new template (Another person) for the clones since their supply of Jango Fett DNA was running low and Jango was obviously dead. I don't know if cloning clones is a good idea since either, it's just not good to do, or because their DNA was altered already and cloning them with the alterations already made could cause issue.
If you also remember the battle of Kamino, that jar Ventress tries to steal is all of the DNA they have left to work with, that is *all* of it. Now I am sure I am telling you this and probably either can poke holes in it or think it's stupid, but this is just how it's written.

You had to have played through the campaign to get the mission if I recall. Also the base genome for the clones was also deteriorating every batch made causing more defects. And since the original (Jango) was dead they couldn't really continue using it or something I think I read somewhere.

Another important thing to consider is that 19 years passes between ROTS and ANH. That potentially means most / all the clones have been phased out and the Stormtroopers on the ground were trained by other stormtroopers. Likely the quality between training from clones vs stormtroopers was vastly lower. In addition, Clone genome was also likely superior, they were more motivated and ready to die for the mission. This was probably just a job for the stormtroopers who didn’t give a shit. Also due to the scale and size of garrisons deployed, it was likely any Tom dick and Harry would become a stormtrooper. Hence their inability to do basic things like shoot properly.

Really interesting ideas! You got me thinking that an additional reason could be that by moving to an imperial citizen-based military, Palpatine is able to add to the illusion of “peace” by giving those same citizens hope of a future for their kids, food on the table, safety & security. At least for a time those people who weren’t fully involved in galactic politics (which is likely to be a large portion, given the size of any galaxy) could convince or be convinced that service [militarily] is a path to everything I mentioned above.
Clearly that feeling would lead to dissolutionment eventually when the empires promised turn out to be hollow, but the immediate gain in compliance by people for Palpatine would be hard to pass up.

Not really. The uprising lost because the empire hired Boba Fett as he knew the facility. As well as the storm troopers who were sent to deal with the uprising was the Vader’s fist, the former 501st who actually was still mostly full of clones. Even if the arcs had more experience, the emperor would have sent more forces to deal with them. It would’ve been the clone wars again but only on a single planet. The kaminoains just didn’t have the numbers or territory to maintain a war.

You forgot to say, "May the Fourth be with YOOOOOU, and have a great day."

For me it is the Battlefront 2 Classic canon behind the scenes, I can trust Filoni to an extent but I don't just bend over to new "canon" just because "it is more realistic", I like fantasy in my fantasy settings.
