Aw, thank you a bunch!!! Knowing our videos can sprinkle a bit of green magic into your snowy scenery is just the best feeling. Your support keeps us going, and I'm sending warm vibes your way. Stay cozy, and keep enjoying the garden adventures with us! 🌿❄️✨
Jennifer, I love your videos & so glad to have stumbled on them. I just moved back to Florida and in zone 9b, the southern part of Hillsborough County, gulf side. I'm researching your plants to my zone & of course some plants wouldn't do well here. Your backyard is my dream too. You are an inspiration for sure. Thank you.
Oh wow, your words mean the world to me! Welcome back to Florida, neighbor! 🌴 I'm so glad my garden can be a source of inspiration for you. If you ever need tips or just want to chat plants, I'm here. Happy gardening in our sunny 9b zone, and thanks for being a part of this green journey with me! 🌿💖
Hello Jennifer: Another day full of smiles from you and the beautiful lushy yard🌴❤😊as always thank you (and Bryce) for sharing what you do, GOD bless you and hubby🙏
Wow, your comment just made my day! :) I'm so glad the videos bring inspiration and brightness to your day. It means a lot to me (and Bryce). Thanks a bunch for your kind words and for being part of our gardening family! 🌿✨😊
Jennifer, I’m in Manatee County, zone 10a would love to see you do something like a 4’ x 30’ tropical border against the house sometime. Thank you (& Bryce) so much for your videos! ❤
Absolutely, Great idea! We'll definitely work on a video like that in the future. Bryce is in college right now but he said thank you for including him haha, your support means the world. Thanks for the suggestion! 🌿🏡
Another great video and THANK YOU for putting the names on the video ❤️ I shared and hope my friends on the that coast call. I would recommend you and Bryce ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!!
Aw, thank you! Your kind words make creating these videos even more enjoyable. I'm really glad you find the information helpful and timely. Thanks for being a part of our gardening journey! 🌿😊
True gardener! I moved here from MA and trying to learn tropical plants, and how to dress up small yards to look lush and colorful/tropical. Your videos help tremendously, thank you
Hello Gardener! I am so glad the videos are helpful, plants and tree in our area can be a bit overwhelming to determine what likes it here lol. Glad the videos are helpful to you.
I’m so happy to be finding more of your videos. Thanks for addressing the cold hardiness of these plants. I’d also be interested in a video about the heat tolerance. We were upgraded to zone 10a this year and last summer was an absolute scorcher with heat AND humidity.
Great channel and content. I'm in PBC and haven't found anyone that has as good of a channel for S FL as yours. Beautiful yard, very tastefully done. Wish you serviced S PBC I have a project that I don't feel like doing myself 😉. New follower!
Nice review for cold weather needs of tropicals. Boy I wished I lived there vs panhandle in Navarre FL. We usually do well most of winter except we seem to have one spell every winter that gets in mid to low 20s for 8 hours and it’s hard to put certain things in ground have to settle for pots. Outside of that the winter is usually mild down to mid 30s a few nights. But still enjoy seeing your place thanks for sharing
Your backyard is so beautiful! I’m getting my Master’s in Landscape Architecture in Georgia currently, and hope return to Florida to design spaces like this one day!! So lush and absolutely stunning
Hello True Gardener glad you enjoyed the video Zone 9 Louisiana looks like you guys are getting nicer weather this evening than we are. Have a great week.😁
Hi!! Thanks for watching! And Brazilian red cloaks should be covered if the temperature drops below 30 degrees, especially if they've been planted for less than a year!
Wonderful, timely video for these colder temps. Thanks for anticipating our concerns! Also, I noticed the Baeta (sp?) edging as you were walking through your garden. Are you still happy with it? I’m getting closer to being in the market for a good edging material. I remember you discussing it last year.
Absolutely! So glad you found the video helpful for the chilly weather. 😊 And yes, the Beauta edging is still rocking in my garden! It's been a solid choice, and I'm happy with how it's holding up. If you're diving into the edging market, I'd say it's worth considering
Thanks Jennifer..great winter info..im north of you zone 9 beachside but love the tropical look in a garden. Do you recommend something like Wilt pruf for cold and wind burn?
Absolutely! While the difference in zones can limit some tropical plants due to colder conditions, Pindo palm, cabbage palm, windmill palm, dwarf Palmettos, and possibly king sagos should thrive well in your 8b zone. I'm thrilled to be part of your gardening inspiration in Central GA! I hope those suggestions help! Happy gardening! 🌴🌿
I love your videos Jennifer, I was wondering how you go about fertilizing all of this? I know palms & plants like this benefit greatly from a good feeding schedule so was curious on your thoughts about that. Maybe you could make an upcoming video based on how you fertilize an entire landscape like this? Thank you for any response!🌴
Great question I was actually thinking of doing a video on it on my palms I use 8 to 12 and on my blooming plants I use bougain BGI I use the southern Ag nutritional palm spray that you can get off Amazon every three months with a hose end, adapter, and just spray it on. Works amazingly. Good luck
Hi, I love all your videos Jennifer. Can you tell me if Foxtail Palms can survive a 20-degree freeze? I know you have some in your front yard. They are beautiful.
Thanks so much for the info Jennifer. I didn't realize clusia was so tender when young. Your alocasia is beautiful. Still trying to find the right spot for mine - the new leaves continue to shrink in size. Any suggestions? Love all your videos - my favorite is still the back yard in Fort Pierce.
Hello Chica, you are so very welcome and yes that Ft. pierce project was one of my favorites too. I will be getting a tour of that space soon. As for your question, Alocasia can do that for a number of reasons. Starting with too much or too little water, not enough sunlight, essential nutrients depleted after transplanting from pot into its current location. I wish there was a clearer answer to that question. In my case it was do to the lack of light as you know they like bright, indirect light. Well, I know that doesn't narrow it down a ton but hope that helps some. 😊
So glad I found you!☺️ How far off my fence should I plant a travelers palm? I’m working with a narrow stretch and looking for tropical privacy foliage.
I love your videos. I learn something new almost every time i watch them. I just shared this one with my sister in New York! I was wondering how far inland your company would go in land? I live about an hour from Vero on 60.
Hello Kevin, thank you I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos. In answer to your question we go into Okeechobee however if you'd like to speak with me about your project, please reach out to me by phone or email. I've added my contact info below. Look forward to speaking with you!
Hello FL neighbor, from New Smyrna Beach area. 🐬🌴 Jennifer, you're incredible! I'm SO inspired by your videos!! I'd love to see a video on how to get started. 😂 (Or maybe I missed it in your list of videos?!) Do you pick a focal tree? Or start with the border? It's been two years of longing to start, but scared to purchase a $200 palm tree and put it in the ground. 🙃 I have a great backyard, 3 strong men, and NO PLAN. Help!
Beautiful garden! Just love your videos, very inspiring! You mentioned you give your clusia a haircut twice a year, how do you prune them so they don’t look butchered lol?
Great question, I avoid the use of hedge trimmers that gives you cut leaves throughout the hedge and looks like your plants have dead ends everywhere lol. I use loppers and get the unruly ones only keeping them tidy on the top and both sides. If I miss a cutting I may have to give everything a hard cut back however that just developing a line of where I want them then cutting the entire grouping to follow that line. If you end up with a butchered look because too much time had gone past since the last trimming then don't worry as long as you cut the stems and not the leaves they will flush out quickly.
no, I wish I had that much forethought it’s chasing the sun so it’s leaning forward and the limbs are really sprawling out to get some sunlight. Isn’t it a beautiful look? that’s one of the things that I love about shade palms. they’ll do well in the shade, but they still try to reach the sun so often that creates some beautiful curves as well as awesome arching branches.
I love the look of red bananas they just don't offer enough time in the garden. I've only been able to keep them in pots and by year two they seem to peter out. I do have an Ice cream banana tree on my side yard that I love. It produces a good crop every year.
I do prefer mulch over rock especially since my gardens tends to be more along the lines of a jungle and the rocks get lost. However if you prefer a more open space lol a place to spot a snake if need be, then a more open design with rocks would probably be the easiest to maintain. Best of luck to you!
Hello Yes, its a Madagascar Palm, not actually a palm. They are usually found much smaller however this is one I sprung from a nursery display years ago.

New to plants and this was very helpful as I'm in 9b
Glad it was helpful!
My favorite garden…a tropical one. (GA ZONE 8b)

Yep..we just got over a hard freeze a couple of weeks ago @@TrueGardener

For years you've been inspiring me to make my central GA (8b) gardens more tropical. Do you use plants that could survive in 8b in your designs?

Hi, I love all your videos Jennifer. Can you tell me if Foxtail Palms can survive a 20-degree freeze? I know you have some in your front yard. They are beautiful.
Oh I wish they could the lowest I've seen them go is 29 and that was for just a couple of hours. They did sustain canopy damage however bounced back.

Nothing much grows in winter here in zone 8b Dallas tx.

Hi There Gardener! 😁
Beautiful garden! Just love your videos, very inspiring! You mentioned you give your clusia a haircut twice a year, how do you prune them so they don’t look butchered lol?

Makes sense! I have heard some people say never to prune them but I disagree! Thanks for explaining!@@TrueGardener
I noticed one of the Bottle Palm is slanted forward and I love that look. Did you do it purposely? It's the one where you take pictures.
no, I wish I had that much forethought it’s chasing the sun so it’s leaning forward and the limbs are really sprawling out to get some sunlight. Isn’t it a beautiful look? that’s one of the things that I love about shade palms. they’ll do well in the shade, but they still try to reach the sun so often that creates some beautiful curves as well as awesome arching branches.
I noticed you don't work with Red Banana Trees and Banana Palms. Is there a reason for that?
I love the look of red bananas they just don't offer enough time in the garden. I've only been able to keep them in pots and by year two they seem to peter out. I do have an Ice cream banana tree on my side yard that I love. It produces a good crop every year.
Oh the pop of red in the back of the clusia is so pretty! do you prefer mulch over rocks? Your thoughts on crushed shells? I'm scared of snakes LOL
I do prefer mulch over rock especially since my gardens tends to be more along the lines of a jungle and the rocks get lost. However if you prefer a more open space lol a place to spot a snake if need be, then a more open design with rocks would probably be the easiest to maintain. Best of luck to you!
