Nair is a fucking monster! He plays Ridley like Ridley would, it's so insane. He goes for (and LANDS) hard-hitting, mastermind reads and waits out options while just standing there MENACINGLY. His is a playstyle of raw intimidation. Unreal.
I was thinking about this the other day there are a lot of smash characters that are more efficient if u play them "as they would" thats pretty cool I like to think it's intended

His advantage state is still terrifying with smashes that cover multiple ledge options and the entire battlefield platform. Dash attack is a ridiculous burst option that kills at the sweetspot and sets up for braindead kill confirms off the sourspot, and crosses up shields. Incineroar is essentially just a better Ganon and is a mid tier, and the only massive difference you will really see with the two is that they actually bothered to give Incineroar a functional recovery while Ganon still goes into free fall after side b. He's a bruiser with the fragility of Pichu, if not worse.
I mean it was kinda the optimal play, if he timed it right, the set was over. A lot of Ridley players never utilize it when it's either a free edge gaurd where you get a spike, or you can ledge trump to set up for an edge gaurd with some of his aerials
Nair did that and took 2 stocks in a row in another torney, game 5 in grand finals vs sparg0's cloud, you can watch it in Facebook the tourney was the "maruchan gaming" it was a Mexican online tourney
@@HippityhoppityGnW Characters with a weight unit above 105 are generally considered heavyweights like Snake and Wario, which he's the same weight as, he's just not a super heavyweight which is cut off at Piranha Plant (112) and heavier. It is so stupid that samus is one unit heavier than freakin' Ridley tho

I think there are just a lot of great characters and people think characters that are ranked lower are a lot weaker than they actually are. People playing lower ranked characters just have bad mentality because they think they are not supposed to win. But what you should really do is focus on the best uses and strategies your character has, like the commentators said. There have been grand finals won in fighting games by a character relying on three good moves, maybe even less.

Surprised he doesn’t use grab slide more… Ridley grabs through shields. It’s satisfying. Also he’s so predictable on his falls. All he does is nair. Zero down b’s trying to surprise him.

At top level, matchups matter more. The fact that Nair^ could pull an upset like this is a testament to his skill as a player more than anything
