    Your garden is coming along so well! Currently in the same boat, trying to smother the grass in the garden.

    My leeks went to seed last year and the flower lasted all summer. They were beautiful.
    Good luck with your corn. I’m going to try again hoping the mice won’t eat every kernel off the cob this year.

      Thanks good luck with yours! I have an owl I'm the area so hopefully I won't have any rodent problems!

    Hopefully all of your onions don’t bolt! If they do and you’re looking for long term storage you can just dice them up and freeze them. :)

      Thanks I'll keep that in mind!

    I was talking to some gardeners the other day. And they said for years they been putting Vasaline around the wood on there vegetables beds. As the rolly pollies won't go over Vasaline it's to slidey for them. And it don't wash off in the rain. I'm a first time gardener, and iv tried it and so far it's worked. Fingers crossed 🤞

    My onions also staring to bolt, oh and for your names just use regular #2 pencil ✏️ it really works I have found some tags in the garden from last year and they still have the names

    All tomatoes are self-pollinating, bees are just helpers. Åll they need is a little shake every morning.

    • @thefiresidefarm
      @thefiresidefarm  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes ma'am. I distinguish them by "self pollinating" and "promiscuous" labels because the goingtoseed tomatoes are bred and labeled that way.

    Great job!
    If you can, chew up some raw garlic before working outside. Definitely keeps them pesky bloodsuckers away for a few hours. Tea tree or cedar oil is also a great repellent.

      Haha I love garlic but I don't know if I love it that much! 😅

    Have you tried the citronella plant? Also called the mosquito plant? I grow to every year and this past year I actually propagated the plants. They look awesome by the way! I didn’t think I was gonna be able to do it, but I did!

    Hey Meg, I recently watched a film; The biggest little farm, and upon watching your vid I was reminded of how these farmers almost accidentally discovered that…..Ducks love to eat snails, you might already know of this but I just wanted to pass the word 👍

    I feel your pain with the beans. I lost track of how many bean seeds I planted last year. I just kept reseeding over and over because they did not come up or they came up and died off. I lost track of what varieties were growing where. Sigh!

    is it easy to get wood chips deliveries from arborist in your area? where i live its easy to get deliveries and moving soon to similar climate as yours and i wonder what its like for your region. thank you in advance.

      Hey yah we don't have "chipdrop" here or anything..but what I did was call around to several local tree companies and asked if they gave away wood chips. One company I called does and they prefer dropping it off to someone for free instead of having to pay money at the city dump
