4 Cloud Mix Recipes (Step by Step) Comparison for Straight Pours - Acrylic pouring

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 6 ต.ค. 2024
- I will do a step by step tutorial comparison test 4 different cloud mix recipes for you to try in your pours. Straight pours are the perfect technique for a beginner in fluid, acrylic pouring art. We will test 4 cloud recipe mixes that include: Satin Enamels, Satin Enamels and Artist Loft Soft Body, Vallejo Pearl Medium, American Flood Floetrol. My colors are mixed 2:1 (American Floetrol, to Paint). Generally my cloud mix is a little thinner than the paint mix.
FULL RECIPES ARE LISTED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE SCREEN IN VIDEO.
Mix # 1: (1:1) Satin Enamels to + Soft body + 1/2 Part Water
Mix # 2: (1:1) Satin Enamels to Floetrol
Mix # 3: (1:1) Vallejo to Artist Loft + 2 Parts Water
Mix # 4: (2:1) Floetrol to Titanium White)
Colors Used: Arteza Bordeaux Red, Amsterdam Naphthol Red Deep, Amsterdam Naples Yellow Deep, Amsterdam Titanium White, Blick Cadmium Yellow Deep, Brickrylic Metallic Gold, Blickrylic Primary Yellow, Brickrylic Fire Red
Every recipe will reach differently depending on the consistency (viscosity/ thickness) of your paints. Your pouring medium also comes into play as some paints react more to other brands. For example American floetrol is reactive and I find I get more cells using it in my straight pours. But more importantly this goes to show that YOU CAN USE WHAT YOU HAVE and still make amazing art. You don't have to go out and buy all these different products.... Now it make take some testing, which is where this video comes in. I hope I have giving you a base of products to try and use. I am interested to see about combining two into one pour and getting different effects. Happy Pouring!

Absolutely helpful tutorial video how to create clouds using different ingredient recipes. The outcome of your straight pours are awesome as always. Many thanks for sharing your experiences Garrick 👍🏻⭐️🙂
I love love love this set. I really love the rings in 2. That Bordeaux is a gorgeous color
This will be 11.00 p.m. on my ‘across the pond’ time. It’ll be late and, oh my, it’ll be worth it. 😁
Can't wait to see you there!

More than welcome. Stay tuned for more very soon!

See you soon!
I truly appreciate it, you’re doing this! I don’t have a place to experiment and these videos are extremely helpful. I love the way they all look, it just depends on the type and how many clouds you want.
You are so welcome!
Yes Please more videos like this . Was very helpful, the explanation was amazing step by step and easy to follow. they all looked amazing, but i personally liked reciepe No. 2 ,No 4 was different. Loved them all. thankyou.
Glad it was helpful! More to come. Much love ❤️
I am learning so much from your comparison videos. Love your work❤️
Yay love hearing it. Can't wait to see what you will create.
Sorry for not being live as planned. 😶🌫️ I am a person very, very anxious and I realize that going live, add more stresses to me because there is a lot of activity in the comments in addition to wanting to follow the video. Sometimes it's too much for my head. 🤯☺️🤷♀️
But I listen all this video. This soooo interesting experience Garrick. 🥰 Wow I love all piece and the color together are sooo amazing. ❤❤❤
It's a perfect combo to send all the 4 pieces together. 👍
I worked for 20 years as a chemical technician. 😁 So of course I would like other tries. 🤩 Painting is also chemistry and you are excellent at explaining reactions. 😉 I don't remember her artist telling me that with Liquitex the clouds are less invasive. 🤔 I only had Amsterdam colors, with the satin enamel and water, my canvas became a big chubby cloud. 😅 I made a ring for it.
Great video with cloud mix choices. Great colours for demo. Lovely set!❤❤❤
Thanks so much 😊
I love this… And I love you doing rest today, so yes, yes yes
Big hugs!
They’re all gorgeous! This is my first time seeing this technique so thank you so much for these experiments!
Well I'm super stoked you enjoyed this episode!! Much love.
Holy cow! That's out of hand! Wow!

You are very welcome.
Love love love the red! Beautiful dear! It's hot hot hot
Thanks so much. I didn't think these paintings would come out so good.
Great video. I liked these in the following order. No. 3, 1 , 2, 4. They were all very good. Thank you for making this video, which would be so helpful to many people. Some recipes are very complicated and not clear . Hope to see more of your experiments. Regards Glenis
You are so welcome!
Love the Amsterdam one. Love the experiments!

Love your tutorials. Love the titanium white best
Thank you for watching.
Thanks for doing this Garrick. You got interesting and beautiful results.
My pleasure!
#2 looks like an angel😇
Very well-explained and demonstrated experiment. Thanks for your time, Garrick.
More than welcome 🙏🏿
Wow. Just wow. Amazing experiment.
Another wonderful video to save for later and review my mixtures!!! Thank you!! (beginner here - and all the terms are so confusing - one person's cloud mixture is a "secret" whereas you share our choices and let us make up our own minds which one to use! Thanks again!
So glad this was helpful to you. Lo e they all produce different effects which makes all of our paintings different.
Garrik, way to go. The way you explained the goal to us along with those tips on colors and what to expect. Like you, I really like the 4th very much, titanium white. I never thought a lot about even cloud pours. I think I'm gonna immerse or commit myself to learn more about cloud pours. The teacher part in you has done it's job, intreged me. So from South of Atlanta Ga 30 mins, thanks again. p.s. all 4 of those pieces inspiring, wish I had them here to look at while I add this to my skills. Carol D.
Awww so thrilled you at inspired. How did your paintings turn out?
Your video tutorials are very helpful, I would like more

Thank you Garrick for this helpful video 😍🤗
Glad it was helpful!
This video is terrific. Thank you so much for doing the experimenting for us
You are more than welcome 🥰
That was an amazing tutorial. I have only ever known the first recipe you used. I did like the one where you used the Vallejo. I do have some of the Vallejo which i hardly ever use.
Yay! Hope that works well for you.
Thank you so much for the tutorials. You proved there are multiple ways to achieve getting clouds. I like #1 and #3 for its crispness but all were pretty. Thanks Garrett. ❤
First time watching your videos you did an excellent job of explaining and so easy to follow thanks subscribing!
Totqlly thrilled you enjoyed it. Thanks for the sub!
Very cool experiment love how they turned out 😍
Thanks Gerri!
I love seeing the different reactions. Thank you. I was really hoping that the Amsterdam titanium white would make some clouds since I always have it on hand. Lol
I have spent so much money on canvases and paints over the last 1 1/2 years and never done the cloud pour! So adding anymore products my husband might divorce me 😂😊 but you know I will have to try.
Lol!!! This is so funny. Remember you can make more colors by mixing the ones you have together. Also the big canvas packs from Jerry's are cheap and good for practice.
Today was my first experience with you. I loved all of them . Great instructor. You were so patient and thorough. Thank you. And I look forward to seeing 👀 more of your videos.
Thanks so much Tynita! Much love. ❤️
Yes! plz more experiments ❤.
Thank You for all your videos, amazing this one very educational thanks
You are more than welcome!
Wow! Thank you for sharing and saving us money ❤
More than welcome!
Hi Garrick! Happy New Year! Great video demonstration! Really appreciate the time you spent to bring this to us! Love seeing the differences of the reactions you got! Definitely a video library keeper!
Fantastic video! Please make more of these experiments! It’s so easy to follow and the small number of ingredients makes a big difference! Thank you!
I love to hear this! I have a few more coming. Thanks again for watching.
This was a great experiment! They all have a great look. Love your recap of the pours at the end with each PM.
Thanks bro for watching!
Love these experiments! Its so helpful!❤
Thrilled you are enjoying them. More on the way!!!
I love when all of you pro's do these comparison videos! I love to experiment and I start out journaling...but Journaling falls away as I get rapped up and I can never remember all the great things that work, costing tons of buckaroos! So thank you for saving me tons of them bucks😂🎉
Lol you are more than welcome.
Garrick! Thank you so much. This was absolutely fantastic & truly helpful. ❤
I'd love to have #1 or #4 they're that good!!!
I'll send it to you in the mail!!!! It'll he my Christmas present to you!
You Sweetheart. You don't need to do that. I just so appreciate the time you took to help peeps. And... to have them come out so cool!!!
You're the bomb diggity, my friend!❤
Amazing, fantastic!🎉👏👌
Glad you enjoyed it.
Fun video! And really informative too
I like the 1st one the best then the second one
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for these great videos!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for this video Garrick. It’s great to see the difference between each of these mixtures. Great job!
Thanks for watching brother!
Love the experiments, thanks for sharing.
More than welcome. I have a even bigger one dropping tomorrow.
This video was really super interesting, thanks a lot 😊
Thanks for watching!
The Mely D mix is my standby Cloud Mix, but never really tried the Satin Enamels alone- at least not with consistent results. Real talk though- I am DYING to try the Vallejo! Been drooling over Fiona's flower dips forEVER. Lol.
Side note: I love watching you work, Garrick. Doesn't feel like I'm being lectured. Just feels Like I'm just hanging out with muh art pals and learning some stuff. So don't ever change.
Ohhh I love this Feeling like your hanging out with your bestie online is the ultimate compliment!! Vallejo is a very interesting product. The clouds it produces are definitely different.
Yes! More recipes please
Noted!! I have a couple things I've been wanting to try.
Dood you are just killing it right now! Thanks for being you ❤!
Awww thanks you for the kind words. Much love!
Thank you for doing this! I had just searched your channel last week for cloud recipes! You’re reading my mind! Now to decide which one I am gonna try. Peace!
So glad it was on time! Hope you have been well Kim!!!
I really like the Titanium only with the small rings and the fire eruption. Yes, more tutortials please!
Thansk for chiming in!
Thank you for sharing this video its very helpfull so beautifull work 👏 👏 👏. Happy new year Garrick 😊
ThankS Domi!
Love this!! So informative!
Glad you liked it!!
Thank you so much. I'm off to paint. ❤
Thank you for a great video about the recipes
My pleasure 😊
Awesome tutorial and experiment. Thanks. Vallejo is still available.
This was a very helpful video because it gets so confusing with puddles or clouds. I did a painting a few years ago and instead of using just white I used Decoart Dazzling pearl white in the bottle not the jar. I got the most amazing, what I thought at the time were cells, an explosion of them. I just mixed it for a Dutch pour.
Ohhh that sounds fun. I love the possibilities with clouds and cells.
My favorite is #1...thanks so much
You are so welcome!
Beautiful!!
Thank you! 😊
This was an awesome experiment and you shared lots of detailed information. I have been wanting to try a cloud painting. Now I will! thank you bunches!
Ayyeee glad it was helpful!
Thank you ! I wait when you make pearl pour with this ingredients! Please !
I've never done a conventional Pearl pour however I do faux pours. I may do my next series on this!
Best cloud video I've seen - thank you! Amsterdam Titanium FTW!
Thank you for watching.
Trank you for showing us. I Stick by Vallleo because the produkt I already use for other Tutorials and as Hobby.
Yay so happy you enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing 🎨
My pleasure!
Yes, please more experiments.
Working on them for you guys!
I'm so excited!! Ive been struggling making clouds and omg I need to know how you do it!! See you tomorrow!! Should I have anything mixed and ready to go? I want to paint along with you..❤
Please do! I will be using american floetrol, deco art satin enamels, Vallejo pearl medium. If you don't have it all it's fine!!!
Wow! Cool
Thanks for watching love!
❤thank you new here !! All are great
Welcome to the party. That's for stopping by!
Thanks
Rosemary, thank you so much for the love!!
Man you deserve it hope one day I get this good @GarrickBrownArtStudio
Hope to get this good one day
Thank you for doing this tutorial. I have been wanting to try some cloud pours and was looking for some easy mixtures. These are all beautiful, but I would like to see how your cloud mixtures react with cheaper paints. I personally can't afford Amsterdam and Arteza paints at the moment. I use Artist Loft, Deco Art, Phoenix, and Liquitex. I also have paints that I got from Dollar Tree. LOL
Glad it was helpful! Listen those will work just fine too. I used Artist Loft for years when I started.
Hey friend!! Love you did this!! Of course you know which one is my favorite! hahahaha!! I loved doing a comparison video last year and I touched on some of these recipes...; and then a couple of random ones with iridescent mediums. Now I want to work on the Vallejo with other white paints other than Amsterdam and ALSB! Anywho ... soooo good .... and I love this color palette! bravo ... #cloudpoursarelife
Thanks for watching friend. So much fun!!!
This was a great video. I loved them all but I'd like to try the Amsterdam & the deco pearl w/Floetrol no water (hope I gt that right). Thanks a bunch.
I'll see what I can do love!
Love it
Thank you!
Favorite for composition is #4.
Yes don't you love that change in the gradients?
Hey Garrick, I’ve been seeing lots of artists mix American floetrol w minwax wood conditioner to have it mimic the beloved Aussie floetrol. However, some use oil based and some use water based. Maybe you could do an experiment for us using both showing the differences between the 2. Maybe a mix of some pours and some swipes? I’m sure you’ve got a big list of future tests but if you can add that in there, I think I speak for many when I say it would be much appreciated. Thanks my man! ❤
I have done videos in the past with the minwax but it would be fun to see the alternative go head to head. I stopped using minwax because of its harsh odor and its a extremely toxic but I may pull it out one last time. 😊
@@GarrickBrownArtStudio oh I’ll have to look. I bet the water based wouldn’t smell as much. So I’m taking it the smell wasn’t worth the results then. Yes would be very interesting to see. 😉
I enjoy your videos soooo much! You are a born teacher/entertainer with such an incredible talent friend 😊
I'm wondering if you have experimented with Amsterdam Zinc White which I learned from you is a transparent? I'm not entirely sure I understand what uses transparent paints have and haven't had much luck so far in getting results that make me say oooooh!
Aww you are too kind. Zinc is lighter in weight so it won't sink the way Titanium white will. Honestly I need to play more with it and I can get you a better answer on that. I haven't really.played around with it for at least a year!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the love Patsy!
Experiments help figure out what u like best. Yes good idea more.
Will do!
