    Bucket = storage for food , water , fishing , trapping , hunting , tools , cooking , its a seat , table , step stool , hauler for wood , dirt , water . A planter for tomatoes , potatoes . A worm farm , a water filter , a toilet . You can pickle in it , preserve meat in it and hides . Dye clothes , wash dishes and wash clothes . Use it as a floatation divice , target practice and to bury as a cache of valuebles and animal trap .

      well said, you can also burn the bucket as plastic for signaling or use as a drum for signaling

      Just to name a few things..lol! But seriously, alot of people underestimate the value of a bucket. I 100% agree with you!

    well done.
    I keep 4 5 gallon buckets in the back of my Mule. One for garbage. One has ropes and chains and snatch blocks and shackle bolts. Third has canteen and bowl for the dogs, hand tools, two rolled up tarps, zipties, duct tape, baling wire, bank line, and two smemaghs. The 4th has ammo, spray paint, WD40, brake cleaner, CLP, targets, Wasp/Hornet Spray, Woodsman's OFF, and a folding saw.
    I have no idea why I never thought of using buckets for camping gear. Seems natural. Great video.

    I remember when all hunters wore military woodland camo. It's all there was. Crumley came out with the Treebark pattern in the late 70s and aftermarket camo took off from there for hunters. Good luck on a big buck buddy! Your in the right part of the country.😊

  • @blackhatbushcraft
    @blackhatbushcraft 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I have that exact USMC tent except mine is OD Green where your rain cover is woodland. Mine was manufactured by Eureka. Everything else is identical down to the repair kit. I got mine probably 12 years or better ago from a military surplus store. It was unused and I paid $60.00. I was so exited to get that thing at that price. I haven't run across them many times since and they were always way more expensive. The woodland is really nice. Good find! Thanks for the shoutout as well brother.

    I used to have the USMC Combat Tent in Tan and OD made by Eureka... If you call Eureka, they make a foorprint and strap kit for the USMC Combat Tent. The strap kit is so that you can use just the fly alone as a lightweight shelter.

    Hey Dave,
    Wanted to advise that you should use the further out grommet for the tent poles. They design the tent with two so that once the material has stretched you can maintain tension by moving to the inner grommet. Just thought I’d share the info!

    Surplus is definitely the way to start the adventure. Unfortunately, even that is getting expensive. I bought a surplus two half army pup tent for around $50 a few years ago, now that doubled and even tripled new (which mine are). Still the best way to start in my opinion.

    The bucket system is great. I have a pack that holds a 5 gallon bucket and has the lid with a swivel seat. Pockets on the outside hold an entire box of shotgun shells (in the box) so it can be used to hunt dove or ducks. I currently have it set up as my ice fishing rig

    Hey Dave. About 3 years ago, I bought a tent from SNGPACK called the Bunker. SNUGPACK makes them for the British Military. Dome tent, Dark,Dull olive Drab. Extremely well built. It's a 3 man tent, but actually more of a 2 man tent. I won't go into all of it's features( take too long). But you can watch TH-cam reviews. Every bit as good, if not better than the U.S.M.C Diamond brand. I've used it here in Idaho in extreme Conditions and it's been absolutely amazing without any failures. Something to check out if you're bored?
    Keep up the great work on your channel!!

    I have, what is essentially a Eureka 2 man Alpine tent, made for and marketed by Brigade Quartermasters in the mid 1980's, (they called it a "B2" tent). It was made of Gortex and had a similar camo pattern. If you were to set it up around "Mountain Laurel" or Rhododendrons, it will vanish into the shade and light patterns of the plants. So to with this tent.
    I agree with Dave, it needs a ground cloth, mine did too. ;-)

    At the Pathfinder Gathering at Chillicothe, we had the remnants of a tornado go through. I pitched my USMC ICS 2000 tent in M81 camo (aka "Woodland"), the one+ man version of the TCOP here and while just about everybody else's tent or shelter collapsed or was blown down overnight mine was up and completely intact. In fact, I was one of 3 campers whose tents survived the night and I slept like a baby (the other tents that made it were an MSR and a Hilleberg, two expedition grade tents). Mine was a Diamond manufactured ICS also. Bombproof shelters for sure. The modern day version is the "Lightfighter".
