today I ride the second of the two custom BSA Scrambler 650 motorcycles, based on the BSA Gold Star. Could this be my favourite of the two? It rides beautifully and has so much character, it truly feels like a classic motorcycle rather than a brand new one, and I mean that in a very positive way!
In this video I talk about what was done to this motorcycle to make it how it is, how it rides, the feel of the single cylinder engine, the reactions it gets and more...

Actually think this bike looks better than the standard bike, this is how it should have come out of the factory. Amazing looking… TMF needs to take a look at how to customise a bike haha 😂
Amazing job isn’t it!
😂
" Riding a slow bike fast is a lot more fun than riding a fast bike slow "... Great philosophy Mr Darcy . Moor Seed Racing have done a stunning job on the BSA 👍
Many thanks 😊 and yes they have done a great job 👍🏼
Oops a daisy ! Sorry about my spelling. Caption Morgan has that effect on me😊
Me too 😁 enjoy the rum
I like that one minus the unfunctional front mud guard.
Now that is a bike I’d love to see when l open the garage! The styling makes the radiator an actual bonus instead of jarring the overall look.
Really nice!🇬🇧
Yes it is, I really want one also 👍🏼
I prefer this bike to the green bike. A nice 2nd hand bike with these upgrades would be awesome.
So do I 👍🏼
My friend, that bike looked & sounded killer. A very beautiful piece. I'd be proud to have that bike in my garage! Thanks for sharing. Have a beautiful day!! Illinois, USA
What a job theyve done 👏 love it!! 😍
Me too, I want it!
I'm a Royal Enfield man but I love this bike. I'll never have the money. 😢
Maybe one day 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan You reckon? 😄
She sounds absolutely perfect. Really goes to show just how much time and passion went into the custom parts
Love it, nice seeing you gush over a bike, its a great feeling when you find a keeper.
Yes it is 👍🏼
It is a lovely looking thing from every angle, and looks even better with someone on it. And that sound is just amazing. I am looking forward to seeing the production scrambler if/ when it comes out.
One thing common for general life situations and riding a unique or different bike, is to learn to ignore people's opinions. Who cares what they think, write or say? You can never be bland and neutral enough to be liked by all, so just be yourself and care for more important things in life. Opinions of good close friends and relatives are to be heard, and possibly ignored, all others should be ignored by default. Just say thank you for your opinion and forget it forever, no reason to be impolite.
Brilliant to stumble across this video as I saw the bikes at the bike show, and I have to admit it was one of my favourites of the entire show
BSA need to do this 👌🏼And I totally agree about the less powerful bikes are just more fun to ride , I discovered that when I bought the Interceptor , but im liking the look of the BSA Goldstars , great review .👊🏼
I've just fallen in love twice: firstly, of course, with this wonderful motorcycle and secondly, with these boots. Both are 100% my taste! It's just a shame that the BSA in this version will probably never receive approval in Germany. Tonight I'll probably dream about this motorbike! Thank you very much for this video!
Great to hear, I also love this bike 👍🏼
Great review, these custom BSAs look and sound brilliant.
They certainly do 👍🏼
Wish the BSA was available in Australia. Love the look and if it does get here 100% will have one parked between my Road King Special and my V7 Moto Guzzi. Great work with the channel..
Pretty cool bike.....kinf of reminds me of the old thumpers we had aroudn in the sixties.....what it is sorely lacking however is a kick start so one can have the lovely experience of being tossed over the handlebars....:)
Looks bang on!!! Nicely done. 👍
Your transition at the start with ur logo looks really smooth and professional. Nice choice.
Thank you 😊
Looks absolutely awesome
Looks amazing!
You’re right.. I prefer this one too.. hopefully BSA will soon agree because at £3700 plus the cost of the bike you’ve got to really want one.. enjoyed the video and it just shows what can be done 👍🏻
Brilliant presentation as usually, Darcy 👌
Many thanks 😊
Hi Mr D. Starting to get close to the 100k. I think more variety with bikes whilst staying close to your brand is working. Well done to you both.
It looks very cool and sounds great 😎👏
Looks absolutely spot on 👌... Good job Moore Speed Racing 👏👏👏👏
We love it also 👍🏼
Not really a scrambler lover but I do love the chrome on the tank. I think more bike makers should do chrome on the tank I think it's really smart looking 😃
Absolutely gorgeous - can't say much else - love it 🤩
Those two bikes ooze style and charm, beautiful to look at and sensible usable performance. More please.
fitted a horn relocation kit ! love it
What a beauty this is - I'm with you Darcy, this is the better bike of the BSA Scramblers you had (looks wise at least) - I'd love one in my garage if I had the space!
Glad you think so, I’d love it in my garage too! Really got the itch for one
At last, a scrambler with a low exhaust. Good review as usual.
Many thanks, yes it is a beauty 👍🏼
No boiled eggs for the owners of this one. Because they like them Scrambled.
@@romgl4513.....🤣
I think they are basically taking a bike that had been built to a price and fixing it up to close to a Triumph level of quality - really they should come out of the factory like this!
Best looking new BSA I've seen to date, really, really nice.
I really like that apart from the rear end tail tidy and no. plate relocation position. I see that the Hairy Bikers are riding stock versions of the Gold Star on their current TV show. I'm 100% with you on the fun of caning a slow bike on twisty roads as opposed to backing off on a far more powerful bike. The exhaust note reminded me of listening to the single cylinder Scramblers back in the 60's.
That sounds lovely, it won't terrify me either on damp roads, It would be somewhere in the 20's of my list of bikes to buy should I win the lottery. That yellow V twin Indian a few weeks ago would be inside the top 6, as I can only afford one bike, I am sticking with my 1290 Superduke R which is easy to ride slow and goes nearly as fast as I want, please keep up the great reviews of seldom seen bikes
So true about riding moderately powered bikes on public roads. we can ride them hard without doing crazy speeds and they are so much fun. The BSA is great, but a modified Interceptor (shocks, pipes, lights) looks and sounds even better!
Very interesting , thank you.
That’s the best looking bike I have seen years ,love a big single
love the bike, i was waiting for a BSA scrambler from the factory but it never came, so i bought a Fantic caballero 500, my only gripe is that the engine and frame have been made to accommodate a cat and the custom has a big hole where the cat should go, maybe some fake engine mounts could fill in the gap.
Wow that's a beauty ! Looks very rugged and rideable for blasts down country lanes and on our lovely potholey roads ! 😂😂🤣👍😉
Even better than the last one 👌🏻
As someone who had a Dunstall exhaust on my T100, that exhaust would get tiresome pretty quickly, or maybe I'm getting old 😂 Not sure about the chrome tank with that style of bike. Overall, nice looking bike
Sorry, can't agree with you about the exhaust. To me it sounds great, just like a big single should sound. Not as good a sound as an old Manx Norton though!
Looks great, not sure about the costs for this enhancement however 😆
Just say it, overpriced. It needs to come this way from the factory.
Definitely looks a good job and does improve it.
It is, I want one 👍🏼
The difference between the custom built scrambler available only from one workshop and factory built scrambler for the worldwide market is the price and the cost of owning.
A new Gold Star plus the custom works price will give a 650cc Scrambler at a segment above price, whereas a Mahindra built factory BSA Victor 65T production scrambler would only cost marginally more than the BSA Goldstar.
Now with custom build , comes spare replacement of the customised parts and workmanship or labor hours needed to service or replace custom components. The production model, would have economic parts available as standard factory production and service for all bikes sold.
So folks mostly would wait for Mahindra to come up with a BSA Scrambler production model rather than getting a custom one. While people who already have the Goldstar for sometime around and dont want to buy a new bike due to bonding with the existing but have saved again for a new machine - would customise their existing ride and might look forward to buying a different segment of bike altogether.
All said and done - this custom work is a good idea of a road based Scrambler that can derive a production model out of the factory concept Scrambler shown by BSA.
That bike really suits you chap (yes, even more than the soft tail stan)!
Great looking machine how did it handle on the open road speed limits? (Nationals)
It handles brilliantly at national speed, was a really well balanced machine
I think the silver tanked bike could work really well with the cafe racer look- semi clipons and a Thruxton fairing. Someone I knew did that with a Honda XL350 single. Slow bike ridden fast through twisties.
That looks amazing
It was 👍🏼
Absolutely Luv it.😊😊😊😊😊👍🏻
I think you want one Darcy 👍🏼
Yes I do 👍🏼
Love that chrome tank but that greeny is gorgeous too❤😂😊😊
Great video and great bike 👍I completely agree with you about riding a slower bike fast as specially on the uk roads ! I personally couldn’t spend more than half the value of what the bike is to buy when new on customisation? I’d love to ride one though 🤔👍
I'm in 2 minds about the new BSA's the look is pretty good although I think polished engine covers with BSA in the castings would look better than the stickers used, I like what Moor seed have done to it although I'd probably want small aluminium mudguards instead for a more classic look, but other than that its a nice machine that makes a great sound very reminiscent of BSA's of old.
That is one fantastic looking bike.
Certainly is 👍🏼
This looks fantastic like it more than the green one that exhaust sounds great.
I think so too!
Beautiful!
Can i be brutal. The term scrambler depends on when you were introduced to motorcycles. I got my "L's" as a 17 year old in 1980. My Dad took me to "Scrambles" in Cornwall a few years prior to this. Those bikes were 500cc 2 stroke Maico's, Bultaco's and if you were well healed, the new kids on the block, bright yellow RM Suzuki's. The closest we could get to this were the likes of Honda's XL and XR "Trail" bikes and of course Yamaha XT500 if you were happy to break an ankle on occasion (250cc max at 17 years old). I digress, but the BSA doesn't do it for me. Great as a road bike, but something like the Mash 650 X Trail, is more "Scrambler" to me. Perhaps i need to be 71, not 61 to appreciate the BSA. Still love your work. And yes another long winded hint for the Mash road test 😉😁
I share your tastes and preferences! It's a lovely looking bike.
I don't own a motorbike and am probably too old for one to be sensible for me. But, if I were in the market for a bike, I reckon this might be THE one for me.
This is one fine Motorbike. 40 years ago, a Yamaha XT 500 was my first proper bike. One like this BSA could be my last, if they ever make it to my country.
I do love the look ...
Beautiful looking machine. Just how the original scrambles bikes started.
You can't beat these modern classics. 👍
💯
This probably a good 3rd bike to have in the garage however good that exhaust looks it needs to be a bit quieter to enjoy those slow country rides. I said 3rd bike because I need a bike that is more sporty when riding with friends and I need a bike to tour two up with.
Nice Video 👍
Many thanks 😊
This one looks much smarter than the green one(although the green tank was great). Echaust looks great but needs a better down pipe that will not blue.
I think the bike looks & sounds stunning & am a big RE fan boy! Bearing in mind this is a custom bike & as it is it’s certainly better looking then my Intercepter Tho I still think the Interceptor is better looking then the basic BSA!
Excellent video!
I can't agree with you more. The BSA is drop dead gorgeous.
I’m amazed
I've got a GoldStar which i love and aren't really a scrambler type of guy but they have done an excellent job. Is that reg plate even legal or is it just a show plate
Yes I love it, it is a show plate 👍🏼
Good looking bike, if a bit too loud (sounds like straight through pipes). Very much looking forward to your review of the new BMW R 12 (due to be released this Spring/Summer).
Lovely machine nice review, one question where's the number plate , looks great without one 😂
This one didn’t actually have one fitted, I had to wear a trade plate on my back 😂
I know the average owner won't do much offroad in a bike like this , but let me tell you one thing...i have my front mudguard just like the BSA and i am lucky my bike is air cooled because any time i go on gravel pebbles get thrown on the engine and they make it ring like a bell...while you can afford it on an air cooled bike , the BSA has a radiator and you may find yourself wiyth a leak soon.
Hello, I much prefer this customisation to the green BSA. The front mudguard could do with being a bit longer, more like the OEM mudguard, only raised abit to give give some mud clearance, more like the 1960's Street Scramblers.
How did I miss that 😂😂😂
Looks a beautiful machine not as nice as the original but looks fantastic in its own right 😊😊😊❤
Gorgeous bike and a definite improvement over the factory machine….one question,do you know how loud the new pipes are? Might be an issue in some places.
Not sure exactly how loud but they are pretty loud, might be an issue in some countries
That’s much better than the first one
That looks spectacular! Why didn't BSA make it!!!! \0/
Bikes around 50 hp are the most fun.
Just stunning, absolutely gorgeous...
Yeah nice bit of kit.
Hello sir I just wanted to know is x440 from Harley Davidson available in your reach. And if it is when you make a video about it. In India many TH-cam channel make video about it but they compare it with re classic and triumph 400 . But since you frequently drive big harleys and triumph Bonnevilles your opinion make it more specific. And if you make a video about it please mention is it worth to buy or i should go for street 750 from Harley Davidson.
Im afraid we don’t have them in this country, they seem to only be available in India
This custom Scrambler is just how I imagined a BSA Scrambler would/should look, prefer the looks of this one to the green one you tested last week, the only thing I would want to change on this one is the exhaust which I would want to locate above the side panel (like the Exhaust on Triumphs 900 Scrambler) other than that it's pretty much perfect. Interested to know what the Ol Man thinks of the the MSR Scramblers ?
Yes I also prefer this one to the green one.
The Ol Man loves them but he would keep the original mud guards on 👍🏼
I want those front indicators on my bike!
How does the bike do at 75mph (120kph)? That’s the average speed here in Texas, USA.
Me too! It’s fine at that speed, nice and stable too
Sorry - you mentioned the ultra bright turn signals. What were they called? Callamanato or something?
Kellermanattos 👍🏻
Great build, not overdone.
👍🏼
I totally understand why you think this version rocks.
It looks and sound are next level and I asume the riding is too.
Yeah... sell are your bikes and go with this one 😎
Great video young man, thanks. If I had the money I would buy one now, it’s beautiful. They have done a fantastic job.😊
Thanks for watching!
It’s made me wonder why BSA mount the engine so high up in the frame?, I guess there’s something around the gearbox area that projects downwards? 🤔
I think usually the cat is there
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Ah right, thanks.
I am waiting for the vid on the cafe racer styled BSA. 😎
Coming soon!
Nice
I like all three of these custom bikes, especially the first scrambler with that amazing paint job. They are clearly well made and very tastefully done, I agree. What I don't like, and do find offensive, is the level of noise on all three. I don't believe a motorcycle has to be that loud to sound good. Remember, noise is what other people have to live with when your sound is too loud.
Is the old Thor putting a silencer on his thunder? 😉🤪
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I try to, but now and then lightning will strike, so beware!!!
That's an outstanding looking build for sure. Once again the exhaust for me borders on stupid loud. It would give me a migraine in short order.
Hi there, and sorry I don’t know if I’m too sticking in the mud or won’t, I’ve written motorcycles for lots of years, in fact quite a few BSA I’ve actually just put an electric start on my A10 love Bsa bikes done lots of modifications to over years I don’t like what the classes customising these days. I don’t so much these days but I used to ride my bikes to work every day and at weekends doing upwards, 1015, 20,000 miles on different years on different bikes, almost used to live on the bikes and I don’t think that similar things I do to them. These days are improvement half tempted to buy one and do it properly. Take the guards off use either stainless steel or aluminium D shape, triumph Guard on the back and northern commando probably stainless on the front with a certain amount of clearance but not too much very much in the hornet or Wosp scrambler style server 1967 manufacture high level exhaust tucking over the top of the timing case mock up I know with the modern day fuel injection you got to have a certain amount of back pressure all finished off with an aluminium barracuda B-40 rear tail light, probably the prettiest tail light and numberplate configuration. You can have a nice and high out the way I think I’m gonna have to do it just to satisfy my own. Feelings on these motorcycles I’m wanting to do this and by the way I’m 61 62 this year and still wanting to modify and ride motorcycles, preferably not Japanese or American. I know controversial get me out Michael
Nicer than the last one.
Think this is the aktuell best looking Scrambler on Bike World 🤩👍🏼.
Black engine really improves the look
