In this edition of The Wrestling Outlaws, he talks about how the VICE and Seven Bucks Production team filmed with him. Also, he received a personal text from one of the men who made the documentary. My biggest question is why did Vince Russo put the WCW Heavyweight Championship on himself?
Why did Vincent Kennedy McSh!tler put title on himself.... For Ratings ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐, WCW had to do something creative because it was doomed to be sold and Billionaire Ted Turner didn't gave a rats a$$ about wrasslin, politics and running losses and sold it. Case closed

He became "champion" at a time when he was only one member of an entire booking committee.
Meaning everyone from Eric Bischoff to J.J. Dillon all decided to make Russo champion.

I like Darkside of the Ring but you can tell they have very Jim Cornette and Meltzer bias and want to potray Russo as a demon that killed WCW lmaooooooo

The bloated budget hurt WCW badly
WCW only had a bloated budget because Ted Turner wanted that way, a 60 million loss for him was a drop in the bucket. WCW would only survive as long as Ted Turner shielded them.

@@baldassodouniversoparalelo6972 There was no 60 million dollar lose until they sold the company that year. They added it up together. They was turning profits. But they gave away the company to WWE for 8 million which was pennies on the dollar they ran only until June of that year and they paid off everyones contract the company had all in one swoop. Which some of those guys had 3 and 4 years left of there contract and that equalled that 60 million lose. They would of still turned a profit if they didn't do that. It looks like a huge loss but all those factors is why that number the last year looked like that. Too many people like blow ing Meltzer and listen to the short facts instead of the whole deal.

The main problem was WCW strategy wasn't to be sustainable or profitable, it was to beat WWF at any cost. They were successful for a while but that success came at a price. Poaching nearly all of WWFs top stars hurt WWF but the contracts were terrible business deals. They put short term ratings ahead of long term story building and profitability.
They didn't poach any of those performers, they were all free agents who McMahon wasn't re-signing for various reasons. WCW had been signing ex-WWF talent way before that (jake roberts, rick rude) Ya'll got to let go of that myth. Just like no one claims WWF stole cactus jack, steve austin, or brian pillman, or vader.

Russo may be a father and a parent, whatever that means, but he's a BRO above all!
Whenever I watched wrestling interviews featuring Cornette or Bischoff, I always noticed them painting Russo as this crazy, out-of-control, un-educated guy who was vulgar, petty and senselessly thoughtless. But when I started watching Russo's actual youtube videos, I was blown away by how vastly different his conduct was from the descriptions by the aforementioned men. I find Russo extremely educational, entertaining, and respectful. He is not demeaning to others and if he has a criticism of something or someone, he always gives an explanation as to why and will usually offer a solution on how to fix it. I found it ironic that when I tried listening to Cornettes podcast, it was just filled with him cussing and saying really unnecessarily harsh and ugly comments about wrestlers and making fun of aspects of people they cant change. It was bizarre and unappealing. Sorry for bringing him in on this conversation, but I just want to thank Russo for doing these episodes and elevating the conversations about wrestling to be more thoughtful and mature.
Cornette is simply furious his decades of watching and being part of wrestling wouldn't made him a good creative when Vinnie Ru knew what worked and what didn't and basically did the Orson Welles method wich gave success to WWF.

I find Cornette’s perspective on wrestling enlightening, but you are absolutely right. In terms of just being a stand-up individual the reason why Vince Russo is so hated is because he’s a solid guy. You do not earn a bad reputation in this world without being a good guy lol.
Russo knows how to manipulate people
Russo didn't kill it, but he certainly didn't help. It was already going downhill by the time he arrived.
But there IS some blame he must shoulder. There's no defending him being champ, or Arquette being champ. Or Goldberg being heel. Or yet ANOTHER lame nWo formation. Or the awful "shoot/kayfabe" angles. Or any other amount of weird creative and booking moves.. none of which helped the company's brand image, in a time when it was already reeling, BADLY.
If Nitro ratings tanked because of these 2 decisions then you might have a point, but Nitro's ratings actually increased in the weeks following Arquette winning the title and they also got free mainstream coverage because of it. Russo was champion for 1 show and relinquished the title (same as McMahon in 1999). It's not like Russo beat an established guy clean in the ring.

@@c.s3369 No, Brad Siegel hated wrestling since the 80's and was now the boss of Turner/TimeWarner/choose the name of it, he sold WCW as soon as he could for basically the price of a piece of bread out of spite. When they were about to sell or close it in '91 (saved by Turner refusing to let down his "rasslers"), he high fived everybody in the room because they were finally done with this "low brow" content.

Did you watch WCW at all throughout 1999? nWo Elite, nWo B-Team, Flair in an old people's home etc. The show improved in late 99 once he got there.
Russo 1000% killed WCW. He was the one who made David Arquette the WCW champion. Let’s stop pretending like the guy is a genius. WCW downfall began the day they brought in this jackass.
