@@Honestwrestlingfan92-yg4cf Brock was given a massive push before paying his dues on the road and in the mid card but it takes years of hard work to get that body, plus countless hours training for amateur wrestling and MMA. He still had to go through training at OVW as well. If you're talking about his part time schedule I do agree on that. There is no reason why he can't be on RAW 52 times a year and at all of their premium events.

Even TNA did that right back in the day when they had Midway and Jakks Pacific pay the rights for the TNA games and toy rights.

The biggest thing with WCW "beating" WWE wasn't a one off event, it was well over a year, consistency is a big deal in the history books. Having one big show, or highest ratings for one night is fine, good on you, but to be actual competition you have to actually be trading blows. AEW randomly kicks them in the shin and run away.
AEW has never had a single segment on TV that got even half the ratings of the lowest rated Disco Inferno segment on Nitro.
More people had cable then. No cord cutting, no streaming. Apples and oranges.
The narrative I've seen from fans recently is the PPVs are selling out and that's success. They can't sustain 1 payday a month when they have 8 big arenas to pay rent on that aren't even a quarter full now. With the TV rights deal going on I can't imagine they'll give them more than what they got last time. Warner was quick to offer them an extension and more money and their performance has tanked.

Well, $2M in 1994 is equivalent to $4.2M today, but Hogan was a legitimately famous man known to people who didn't even follow wrestling, who brought tremendous attention anywhere he went. Good for him getting paid, but Okada's not worth a fraction of that.

Fun thing about WCW is, what you think you actually know about WCW, you don’t actually know much about WCW at all. They’ve had decades of legacy in the 70s and 80s, and even tons of tapings going into the 90s, that most people have never even scraped. What you’ve seen on Nitro, Thunder, and a slither of Saturday Night, is only a fraction of WCW’s legacy. The Network/Peacock is actually missing heaps of Saturday Night, not to mention the entirety of Pro and Worldwide. This includes SEVERAL title changes. For instance, how many people actually know that Stone Cold held THREE different championships in WCW?
If it wasn't for Naitch, it would go completely under the radar. At least when Cody was in AEW, there was some positive outreach towards the promotion his father once booked.
Remember, the man that loves taking shots at everyone on a weekly basis, was "afraid for his life" when only one of his wrestlers loudly expressed frustrations & quit the company. If Tony is such a weakling that he has to have an army of sycophants around him to give him the courage & support to deal with a single heated situation, he never would have made it during the Monday Night Wars, or any period of wrestling beforehand. Tony talks the talk, but absolutely cannot walk the walk.
I wish this podcast was available on Amazon music. So many people use their echo dots, and nothing else to listen to podcasts. It would increase listeners greatly if it were available.

The public space Tony Khan has entered is a hard one to dig yourself out of. Even if he does dig himself out, his reputation, persona, and brand are all damaged among the wrestling community. Which is his only real community. The sports world only knows him as the Jags owner's son who does stats and analytics somewhere in the building, and the guy that wore the neckbrace. The entertainment world doesn't know who he is at all. He came out of the gate, creating a division in wrestling, and he just continues to insult, diminish, and gaslight others. He's running out of people that still respect him in the only industry that actually respected him.

I don't even know why we're even debating this AW has never made one single dollar of profit and it's entire existence. The company has been in the red for five years. It's a billionaires pet project that is enjoyed on TV by approximately 400,000 really sweaty fat men according to their numbers (That's the number of fans that typically watches dynamite all the way through from beginning to end)
I honestly hope AEW loses their TV deal now, not because I want to see people lose their jobs but I NEED to see how Tony Khan reacts to trying to defend it.

The less tony speaks and actually starts having the product back up this talk the better professional wrestling would be as a whole.
