This is a needed video for those building a Crosskart or superquad where you have no other vehicle to use as a test bed to understand the clutch/kickstand functions. So, I thank you for your time and energy in producing this video. Cheers! Thumbs up on this one....
There's 3 possible paths to Negative (-) Ground. #1 thru the neutral switch (shifter), #2 thru the clutch lever switch, and #3 thru kickstand switch. The running motor requires at least 1 of these pathways to Ground to continue running or else the motor stalls.
Brilliant video.Thank you so much. I've got a 2006 FZ6 (Fazer) that kept stalling when I put it in to 1st.Tried this and it worked. Saved me having to get a mechanic out
Thanks so much for the video. My bike fell over and Would not start. I had no idea about the clutch switch. It had popped off. Popped it back on and I was good to go! Cheers
Thank you very much!!! You help me solve and troubleshoot my Suzuki Vstrom 650 starting problems. I figured out it was my clutch sensor that was bad. Thank you again for posting!
Hey man thanks for sharing I really appreciate it I recently got my bike stolen whoever took it walked it down maybe 50 yards and tried hotwiring it from what I understood from your video he burnt out the clutch wires. I ended up soldering them and the motorcycle turns on when I hold the clutch and turn the switch on but the moment I release the clutch is shut offI’ll definitely be checking what you just showed on your video
My clutch switch tests good... my side switch tests good... but kick stand doesn't kill the engine when clutch is out and in gear still? I know this is what some people want- but I want to restore the kick stand switch.
Thanks for the info. I was driving along and the bike turned off. I tested the KS, went to 0, the sensor at the clutch, kind of fluctuated a little, never went to 0. Is it possible to replace the sensor, if so, where do I find one. 07 Honda Aero. Can I bypass to be sure it is the sensor.
Nice video. I have a 95 Kawasaki zx7. To start i have to pull in clutch lever and release multiple times before it starts. Even though its in neutral. While engine is turning over. Any thoughts why.
Have my meter set to 200 ohms with the sidestand down am getting 1 with it up an getting 00.8 or 9 ohms yet with it up I also have continuity the meter is buzzing does the higher reading mean the switch is shot and needs replacing?thanks
Where is that tip over sensor? I can't find it. I ended up tearing the f****** kickstand sensor out cuz I was so pissed off when the wires touch together my Dash came on but it still won't start in the starter switch does nothing I have to jump the relay and it turns over but it won't start f*** f****** f***
Appreciate the video, if any one could help I am having an issue where, the engine dies when put into gear. both the clutch switch and stand switch are working after testing for continuity. If trying to start in gear with clutch in we get nothing. When started in neutral it fires, but put into gear it dies what should I check put next
John Smithllc shouldn’t have to have have the signals hooked up no. You have a 2001 CBR600 f4i I’m assuming. They will be slightly different than the CBR600RR BUT you should still have a clutch switch. Is their a set of wires at all leading to your clutch perch? If so than follow that it may not be in the exact spot as in my Aprilia it is located on the bottom of my clutch perch and on my CBR it’s well exactly where you see it in the video. The BAS sensor is usually located in the nose of the bike. You would have to take off the nose fairing and it should be below the headlight unit if it is in the same place as the CBR600RR. Since you have a 2001 f4i I am not 100% sure what is the same and what is different with the two bikes as their is a good amount that is different.
No people do it all n track bikes all the time. They bypass the kickstand switch so the bike thinks the kickstand is up but they have completely removed the kickstand. You could just bypass it and instead of removing the kickstand just leave it on but don’t forget to put it up when you ride off lol.
@@TubeSocksMalone 😅😅😅 It might explain why road look like someone was plowing through it. Just kidding. I am fixing electric on mine and some strange things were happening hence my question. But just found out today that both switches were having shortcuts i mean one for light and opposite side.
Basically yes that’s what the clutch switch does. It overrides the neutral safety switch so if you’re in gear and want to start your bike you have to pull the clutch in. Just a safety feature so you don’t start your motorcycle while it’s in gear. Obviously that would suck.
@@TubeSocksMalone thanks man i changed the leverage and didn't realize it was even there but luckily u didn't break it live and learn thanks again I have that question all over the tube and you're the only that responded
I try my best to respond if I can. Sometimes I miss someone’s comment or don’t get notified, but I try if I can. Anything I can do to help a fellow rider.
No. OL is Open Loop. There is no continuity on the OL condition. The 000 means there is continuity or flow of electrical current. All connections have some resistance value.
Dell Davis if you tested it like I did I would assume your kickstand switch is bad but first. Use electrical cleaner and clear up the plug area real good and just look to see if anything is noticeably damaged then give the kickstand switch a real good clean. Get all the grease and grin off because it picks up dirt real real easy. After you give it a good clean then re grease it with automotive grease used for axles/ bearings. They are usually water resistant and won’t just wash away or you could use lithium grease not a big deal you just want to make sure it’s cleaned well and then regreased. Maybe it’s just got so much build up it’s not working properly. Worth a shot before spending and money. Even though it’s not an expensive repair it will stop your bike from starting.

Any time and anything I can do to help out someone
Me too i think this is my problem

Great simple video to learn. Thanks.
Boy do I feel stupid.... Thank you. This solved my problem
Don’t feel stupid. You don’t know until you know.

Thanks, I am building my first bike from the frame up and my switches are good
Of all the videos I watched the past few days, this one solved my problem. Thanks!
Thanks man because of you my bike is back on the road!
Victor Rodriguez that is really awesome to hear. I just want to help anyone If I can get back on the road 👌 ride safe brother and have fun
Thank you so much I’m just working on my bike and you just told me how to fix it I appreciate you bud
I’m happy the video was able to help you out. Ride safe, cheers.
Bro youre a legend! Wasn't getting an readings on my multimeter until I realigned and tightened the kick switch. Very helpful video!
Thank you cheers. I’m happy you got things figured out. Frustrating when something goes wrong.
Great video mate thank you 👏🏽
Thank you for the vid. My clutch sensor have kickstand sensor is not reading zero, does that mean it's not working? Cheers
Thanks man simple and just what I needed 😎
really helpful . and not shared many places
I’m happy you found it helpful. Happy new year

Hell yeah good video
Does it matter which lead goes where on the clutch switch? I didn’t pay attention to where each wire came off of.

Incredibly helpful, sir. Thank you!!
Mine is the 2001 it doesn't look like it comes apart on the handlebars there for the clutch sensor
The two plugs on the clutch switch does it matter which plug goes on each prong
Thanks for this very helpful video bro!
Thanks a lot brother. 🎉
Will these make a fuel pump turn off?
Nice video. I have a 95 Kawasaki zx7. To start i have to pull in clutch lever and release multiple times before it starts. Even though its in neutral. While engine is turning over. Any thoughts why.

Working on these problems now, Thanks Good video!!
What if its not reading 0 when engaged. What does that mean? Mine is reading .4 when i pull the clutch.
Will that stop u from shifting
Thanks 🤠👍👊
Thanks man!

What if it reads .07 instead of .00? Is that too much resistance?

Neutral switch Bro for sure
Did the turn signals wires have to be hooked up to close the circuit or something
