Lots of good stuff John. I use a biblical principle when I’m with people, quick to hear, slow to speak. Really listen to people and don’t start forming an answer while you’re still listening. Also, people do form opinions on your style. Thanks to you, I was just complimented by the women in the main office by saying I looked like I walked off the pages of GQ or J Crew.

I do agree with you in everything you talked about it!!!! I generally care about what i’m going to wear to go to a party. You feel good and the host too. I always take a bottle of wine, chicolates, or something else. If you smell good you feel confortable. Great tips to take to our lives!!!!

Having started my Engineering training with an GE Joint Venture with a company in the Electromedical field who in the 1950's were the Australian distributor for Leica cameras and lenses, then commenced my I.T. career in the mid-1960s by spending 4 years pioneering the sale of computer equipment into the Newspaper, Publishing and Advertising Agencies, I have that technical training complimented by decades of experience in commissioning the creation of commercial videos, along with the national sale of world class video based computer training, to well understand how amateurish is the production quality of most videos on TH-cam. But that's because YT was initiated as a vehicle for amateurs. But that is rapidly changing and it is noteworthy that John's very simple, but very professionally made presentations are what will be needed in the near future, to grow a channel. I support your comment about how hard John works, just to make it look simple. While I have the technical knowledge, I just don't have the creative talent to produce video presentations that as an experienced National Sales Manager would accept as being of Commercial quality. Phil.

Great advice as usual!!! One advantage we have here in Canada is that lawyers wear robes in court (like in the UK but minus the wigs), this does two things: denotes who the attorneys are and levels the playing field. There is no undo influence from what they are wearing, or in the case of women, how low their neckline plunges. Say what you will but people judge you based on what you project outwardly. Although this is shallow it is reality. Taking care of yourself and trying to look good is not shallow it is intelligent. Every little thing you do to help you advance is intelligent. That is one of the reasons that I heed a lot of your advice. Every little bit helps!!! LOL Have a great week John.

Excellent advice. I must be a Benjamin Button when it comes to clothing, because I couldn't give a fig what I looked like as a teen, got slightly better in my 20's, complete overall with age appropriate clothing in my mid 30's, now in my 40's pretty much everything I buy I take to the dry cleaners for slight size adjustments, mainly a few inches off the leg or arm length to insure the perfect fit.
I'm also a believer of "You are what you wear" For example, If I wear a suit people will believe I'm a businessman, If I wear a white lab coat, people will believe I'm a Doctor/Scientist, wear a hard hat and a tool belt in construction. If you want people to believe you are successful or at least trying to be you have to make the effort.

Again another awesome information/video,1 change that throws people off is as a Veteran eye contact is of top importance,but situational awareness is a close second,so as I talk to others,I look around & head on a swivel,just my training & background throws some off but most understand

What a way to start my day...as always! For me it is so important to be a positive impression on myself. I don’t want to get sloppy particularly when it is so easy during these times. Something that bothers me, in addition to all you mentioned, are long, dirty fingernails. UGH!

I picked up some Hero a while back really like it. I prefer it to some much more expensive and popular colognes that I own. Gets compliments regularly and lasts the whole day. Highly recommended if you like a fresh, citrus type scent similar to the original Aqua Di Gio.

Very useful tips. Speaking of smell, it's been over 40 years and I still remember the putrid odor of the cream chipped beef served up by my elementary school cafeteria. Ugh!

Hi John, Q for you ref men and how we smell: Whats your answer to underarm deodorant? Unless you find one of those matched sets, you can’t really get a matching deodorant fragrance. What about the conflict in smells? I cannot use an antiperspirant because evidently I am allergic to the aluminum in most. Thanks for any answers.
Great question! Unfortunately, are use anti-perspirant so I don’t really have to worry too much about matching that Fragrance. Try to find some type of very mild fresh scent.
If you stash any kind of fragrance/cologne in your car, you risk spoiling it much sooner as the sunlight and just a hot vehicle will damage the chemicals and oils. Enjoyed the video however, John. Would love to see a video for blue collar workers some time.
