What do you think about the torque? I just tested it and I was expecting more... It’s supposed to produce 280 pound-feet, but it feels like half of that... Love the design though
I have this car in 2016 F sport 350. Drives great with great tires, gripe is no memory seats on fsport. Screen is old. Gauge is great with LFA design. Could use 350 HP and more torque.
Looks great and still elegant enough. - I have a controversial taste by the way: I think the BMW Grill looks good on the M3 but not on the M4. They have a different angle and that makes a huge difference in reality. The M3 also looks like a BMW from the side. The C-Pillar area of the M4 doesn`t fit to BMW and not to the sharp front end design. Cool Review! Happily not the obvious choice of car.
@@revmatchtv I think it`s fitting to the M3 Design. I am just not happy with it on the M4 as it doesn`t work with anything from the a-pillar backward. I have seen a new green M3 with black accents and compared to the older brother in a fantastic blue it looked really good and modern. I liked it more. It works also good with the number plate on it. The whole design works as the sharp lines are also on the rest of the car, where the M4 is just rounded off and softened up. - Anyway: Taste is different and that`s good.
What I'm really interested in, is how tunable is the IS250. You just know there's not much to do with a NA V6 without throwing a 5 figure dollar sum for a complete rebuild. I'd really hope the 250 would be more boost friendly
It’s a shame this car has always been let down by the engine. Until they come out with a decent turbo motor the car will always be lacking in my opinion. I have always liked how this generation looked especially in light or bright colors. Great work with the vid and camera work.
Counterpoint: It is a bit a bit lower priced than some of its competitors. Lexus kind of marches to their own beat. The ride and handling are spectacular though.
RevMatchTV that’s a fact and I have driven the last gen and felt the same way about the chassis and handling. The chassis is screaming for a more powerful turbo engine in my opinion.
OK first of all I need to correct you and address you saying let down this motor is not a bad motor the 2GR motor is one of the strongest if not the strongest naturally aspirated V6 engine to ever have been produced this motor is highly underrated and has serious tuning potential that still has yet to be untapped
When this motor first came out in 2006 this was the most powerful and fastest car in its class this car holds the record for the fastest V6 car in 2006 in the world this motor was beating V-8 engines at the time please put some respect on this engine yes by modern day standards with turbo chargers other cars are making more power but this motor is a legend and has its place
I thought the 3.5 engine in the Camry is different than the 3.5 in this car? The former is direct and port injected, whereas the IS is only direct injection, correct me if I’m wrong
They are both Toyota D-4S which has port injectors and direct injectors too. Lexus calls it D-4ST whereas Toyota has D-4S. I can’t find any difference in their literature expect the ST is “ superior version with turbo”. This is the Dynamic Force engine series.
How is the mileage? I bought a NX 2018 3 years ago, the mileage said 22city/28 highway but honestly I can push it only to like 17milrs per gallon. So is the mileage good for the IS?
I would say it’s pretty average across the board. 19/28 per the specs. But honestly I think it be around the same as your NX. Maybe slightly less depending on their age. Lol I feel like most IS350 drivers are young and with a heavy foot. Lol NX’s are nice btw. Love Lexus.
Thanks. I'm not sure blue on red would work. It's a tough combo, but I'd rock it. I like strong colors. Might be tough on resale though, but if you hang on to it for a long time it doesn't matter.
That is the color combo I would go for if I were to replace my 2017 IS for a 2021. Sadly, it wasn't offered at the time I purchased mine. If you want to get an idea of what it would look like, Google the Honda S2000 in laguna blue with red interior.
Great review, much appreciated. Thinking of getting an IS 350. Do you recommend the 2021 or just a 2019/20 since nothing has really changed aside from the body difference? Thanks
The 2021 adds Apple Car Play, Android Auto and the touch screen. Actually the suspenion is heavily revised. I spent a fair bit of time covering this. If you value handling and ride, the new adaptive suspesion is superb. If that doens't matter to you, get the ealier one.
@@ajileks1813 Definitely get the 2021 model the body style change really grows on you. Especially if you are getting either White with black rims and tints, Atomic silver with black rims and tints or Ultrasonic Blue Mica with black rims and tints. Also the Dynamic Handling package you can overlook that one if it gets too pricey but it does come with the Carbon Fiber spoiler and 19 BBS Black Rims with those 3 colorways looks BEAUTIFUL
So funny at this time: More than 300 hp is nothing anymore. I remember a time when my 160hp Corrado was one of the quickest cars in school. Tuning it to over 210 hp was a real big thing. 200 hp was kind of the magic number at that time. Not that those cars have been slow. Around 250 km/h was possible with that power. Seems not to be quick enough for today's owners.
Right? It's amazing. In ~2005 BMW debuted the N54 engine in the 335i (I think) and it made a little over 300hp. Now, we get 311hp without a turbo from a similar displacement. Technology marches forward.
@@revmatchtv Yes - it`s going forward in crazy steps. I would still prefer a light vehicle with less hp. I had a Elise with just 122 hp and it was one of the most fun cars I have driven.
@@revmatchtv the original IS350 made only 5 hp less in 2005. The poor gear ratios made the car a lot slower than the second Gen. if it were still a 13 second car like the original IS350, I doubt many people would complain. Unfortunately, it’s gonna need more power. 14 second quarter mile is unacceptable for a $50k+ performance vehicle.
The 3 is quite a different experience than this. I am quite excited to see the next generation of Lexus products as the focus more on the driving experience. This is the first vehicle with their new philosophy.
for the average person, it has more than enough power at 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. Clearly though, if you're a car enthusiast, the power will be lacking as there are much faster alternatives out there.
I work at a Lexus dealer and yes we already have a TTV6 in the LS500. But rumor has it they have been working on a new TT 4.0 V8 to put into production in the ISF/RCF. Lexus Is finally getting into boosted motors. The 8AR-FTS 2.0 turbo motor is the first Toyota turbo motor completely made by Toyota. The 2JZ was made in partnership with garret turbos, and wasn’t completely made by Toyota. The new TT V8 looks to be two 2.0 turbo engine fused together. Exciting stuff!
I have a 2021 Ultra White, red interior, and the full dynamic handling package etc. Love the vehicle no matter what flaws people may say about it. There's no such thing as a perfect-no flaw vehicle. This one gives just enough for everything along with a sweet swag. It's so hard to find one that has all of the goodies. Glad I found "the one."

Not only the V8. Lexus also works with Mazda on an inline 6. Some data are showing that this engine will allegedly make aroun 350 hp, naturally aspirated. This will be achieved with a very smart cam profile adjustment system (probably valve timing, valve duration and valve lift all combined). Whatever, this is a change that is planned for the next RC first, and then will go down on the 4 IS. So if this engine is interesting to you, you are in for a long waiting period.

I wonder if they’ll give it a better powertrain in the next year or two
What camera are you using to film this?
P/s amazing videoing work 👍🏻👍🏻
A few cameras but my main camera is a Panasonic GH5
Looks great and still elegant enough. - I have a controversial taste by the way: I think the BMW Grill looks good on the M3 but not on the M4. They have a different angle and that makes a huge difference in reality. The M3 also looks like a BMW from the side. The C-Pillar area of the M4 doesn`t fit to BMW and not to the sharp front end design. Cool Review! Happily not the obvious choice of car.
I'm just not a fan of the new M3/M4 grill. It's not growing on me.
I’m not sure actually.
@@ryanguercio7061 I'd love to see more power in here for sure!
@@revmatchtv Thank you. I stand corrected!
Ngl, I love the way this car looks over my 2IS. The 3IS was such a disappointment in the looks department.
It’s very crisp
What don’t say that now:(
Picking up a 3is f sport tomorrow with 57k miles
@@harisKhan-qj5xr
The 3IS is by far nicer than the 2IS
@@yousef.al-assaf agreed
@@harisKhan-qj5xr did you get it?!
We only receive the IS300h in South Africa, and it's absolutely horrendous to drive.
Lol
NX’s are nice btw. Love Lexus.
My 16 IS average is 22-23
I like it better than my M2 competition.
Nothing will beat 3is taillights.
Very good review and you cover details other reviewers will overlook.
Do you think the red interior would suit blue exterior?
@@revmatchtv Thank you!
@@ajileks1813 Definitely get the 2021 model the body style change really grows on you. Especially if you are getting either White with black rims and tints, Atomic silver with black rims and tints or Ultrasonic Blue Mica with black rims and tints. All of that combined with the Red Interior IS ABSOLUTELY FLAWLESS. I definitely recommend the Mark Levinson Audio package def the best sound and music you will jam to. Also the Dynamic Handling package you can overlook that one if it gets too pricey but it does come with the Carbon Fiber spoiler and 19 BBS Black Rims with those 3 colorways looks BEAUTIFUL
So Lexus updated the exterior but not the interior? WTF?
I just click the video direct because the reviewer is handsome person

The car BMW wishes they could call the new 3. Amazing how the roles have switched.
The 3 is quite a different experience than this. I am quite excited to see the next generation of Lexus products as the focus more on the driving experience. This is the first vehicle with their new philosophy.
When did BMW say that? If anything lexus IS has been a 3 series knock off since day 1.
for the average person, it has more than enough power at 0-60 in 5.6 seconds. Clearly though, if you're a car enthusiast, the power will be lacking as there are much faster alternatives out there.
The IS 500 will fix that! It won’t be a rocketship, but it will get the missing character it needs!
Does it come standard with apple CarPlay
Yes and Android auto too
This will be an even better car once RR Racing gets ahold of it
My favorite part 7:43
Is it my phone or does everyone else see the color and contrast keep changing in the video?
Shot on different cameras on different days under different conditions. Looked ok on my phone
The new IS is definitely a looker but it needs a new powertrain
I heard that Lexus has a new V6TT in the works!
That would be exciting
I work at a Lexus dealer and yes we already have a TTV6 in the LS500. But rumor has it they have been working on a new TT 4.0 V8 to put into production in the ISF/RCF. Lexus Is finally getting into boosted motors. The 8AR-FTS 2.0 turbo motor is the first Toyota turbo motor completely made by Toyota. The 2JZ was made in partnership with garret turbos, and wasn’t completely made by Toyota. The new TT V8 looks to be two 2.0 turbo engine fused together. Exciting stuff!
@@wesleyhites02gt19 any updates?
Why does the car lower at the 10:42 mark in the video?
I was doing a brake stand
I think im going to lease this
Make it 400HP/Dual Clutch Transmission combination you'll my attention
How does a 472hp IS 500 sound? It’s just been announced
Besides the matt rims did you notice a huge difference in the dynamic handling package or does it drive similar to a regular f sport?
Sorry pal but for most of us there's no misses when comes to the new is 350 F sport😁

IDK why the red is popular. Its way too much red in a car. Look like a bloodbath. I choose the black interior for my 2016.
I really like the aesthetics of this car, I just wish they dropped a V8 and tune it to 440HP? (Maybe?)
Lexus used to have a IS v8 with 460 hp but at that price point people would rather prefer german
Get RCF, or wait they might come out with ISF new one.
Time for an engine update
See my video from today th-cam.com/video/EdQXy2t35mc/w-d-xo.html
Not only the V8.
Lexus also works with Mazda on an inline 6.
Some data are showing that this engine will allegedly make aroun 350 hp, naturally aspirated.
This will be achieved with a very smart cam profile adjustment system (probably valve timing, valve duration and valve lift all combined).
Whatever, this is a change that is planned for the next RC first, and then will go down on the 4 IS. So if this engine is interesting to you, you are in for a long waiting period.
When did 300hp become underpowered
When GTR R35s come out at 600+ HP :(
