    With Lexus you know what you’re getting. It will not be cutting edge technology, but it will be something that works for 250,000 miles and not ask its owner for anything except for gas, tires, oil, and brake pads. But the IS is also very fun to drive and absolutely stunning in person. I think if you want an everyday daily driver and have a long commute, the IS is the car for you.

    Let's admitting it guys.
    Lexus is killing it.
    When every car builder is moving away from sportscar, and especially form sedans.
    When Mercedes and Volvo are moving away from 6 cylinder to four.
    When BMW is mellowing more and more their cars for making them more SUV-like and introducing horrible chinese design choices in their brand signature.
    When the few remaining sport options are insanly powerful and so expensive that nobody can buy them anymore.
    Lexus still offer enthousiast cars with enough horsepower to enjoy them, and improved handling and chassis behavior.

  • @elusivellama
    @elusivellama 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    You absolutely nailed the review. The IS350 is a do it all luxury car with enough sports car DNA to be fun and reliable, without being too harsh or unforgiving. For 95% of your daily commute, you're not carving through the canyons or running 0 - 60 around town, and it excels at that. So it is even more surprising that it handles as well as it does, with a naturally aspirated V6 for the throttle response, powerband and sound. Now with the IS500 on the way, there are no more excuses that anybody can make because it'll be a reliable, powerful, livable daily driver with impeccable build quality.
    Regarding your comment about RWD - up here in Canada, we get the IS350 AWD only (RWD used to be offered years ago), because AWD + winter tires will rip through the snow like its not there. It works very, very well and it'll kill any FWD or RWD car in terms of traction in slick or snowy road conditions. However I'm slowly convincing myself that the 2UR-GSE is good enough that I could make do with RWD and winter tires...

    i love the point you made about this being a great only car because that's absolutely true. if you don't have a dedicated race car, luxury car, and daily driver, this strikes a balance between all of those really well. it's not gonna beat a m3 off the line, the ride isn't smoother than an S class (probably not even better than a C class depending who you ask), and it's not *quite* as cheap to maintain as say a corolla or civic. but you can toss it around a canyon corner, the interior is super nice and it rides over rough roads surprisingly well, and it won't break the bank or require a stupid amount of labor to fix. AND you'll still see these on the roads in 20 years with 300k miles on the dash. if you're looking for a car that isn't the best at anything but is pretty good at everything this doesn't have much competition in its class.

    Just got a 2023 is350- no performance package and no upgraded sound system. The sound system is a MUST- this 10 speaker premium is lacking for a 50k car. Aside from that it handles like a cloud- can't imagine what it would be like with that extra sport + mode. Anyhow- this car is a SPORTY luxury sedan. It is no longer a sport sedan like the 2 IS. It is not very fast. Even if it was tuned with 20 more horsepower it would make a difference. But 311 HP on a car that is almost 2 tons, well- its a bit lack luster. The F sport comes standard with a cold air intake so that's off the table and the ECU has not been cracked yet for a tune. I would have gone with the IS500 if it wasn't for the 20K mark up my California dealers are charging. Overall the car has super and I mean SUPER aggressive styling and is so comfortable to drive. But if you are not concerned with long term ownership and reliability, and want something that throws you back in your seat- this car is not for you. I don't see the complaints with the infotainment or technology aspect of the car- but I am coming from a 2IS. Personally I think this car is a great choice if speed is not your main priority. It is a quick head turner and a DREAM to drive on Cali roads. And if you have been to California that says something.
    TLDR- GET THE UPGRADED SOUND SYSTEM AND THE PREFORMANCE PACKAGE- IF SPEEFD IS YOUR NEED GET THE IS500 AND SPEND THE 20K ON MARKUP. Much love Lexus Family

To be honest for old man street jackassery I only miss the sound of the Mustang. I have more fun with the torque curve of the G70. I've been loving it much more than my 2019 Mercedes C43 AMG. It's way better built, I can feel a much more tactile feel on the road, also so far no issue which is something that plagued my c43 from the first month. Despite being $20K less than my Mercedes I get way more compliments and looks on my IS350 AWD F sport. The only thing I can knock the IS with is its exhaust is way too quiet and the fuel efficiency is worse than the c43 even though it has 40 less HP than that 3.0TT v6 of the C43. The most you would be missing in this vehicle is the updated infotainment system, which can be solved with beatssonic apple CarPlay/android auto radio upgrade. Maybe the dynamic handling package would make it worth the upgrade or look into the IS 500 when it comes out later this year. Just my opinion.

    It has double wishbone fnt suspension, which makes a huge difference in handling. But, it needs a supercharger or turbo to really be competitive. The 500 is RWD only and will spin out during even normal driving. Can't buy that car for under 55k because they all have options added.
