While trying to fill time waiting for Food & Wine to start, we made the mistake of going on #JourneyIntoImagination and despite the short line, the ride was nuts-O.
Malfunctions with audio animatronics, sound, and the evacuation procedures, just show the age and mis-care this ride receives. The original was a classic, but this is not excusable.

I think it’s a sign that they need to restore this ride back to the original 1983-98 version of Journey into Imagination with Dreamfinder & Figment and the scenes chock full of detail and creativity. (With some technology and special effect upgrades of course)
I'm all for any up grade that utilizes the space available instead of the 1/3 they currently use. Also...BRING BACK THE RAINBOW TUNNEL!
As would I...and you're right,some of those early-80's effects would need to be upgraded...but it's gone. Hopefully,the changes to Epcot over the next decade that I've been hearing about will include bulldozing this shell of its former self and replacing it with something worthy of the Imagineers.
@@SkipperBobsBreakDowns I couldn't agree more! I never even got to see it! What's frustrating is it's still there but we are banned from seeing it.
@@elizabethjames2185 There is a channel that shows backstage scenes at Disney, they showed recent looks of Imagination Labs and how the area has mostly been gutted, including the rainbow tunnel.
After seeing some videos of the original, I've been thinking the same, especially simce there's already comics about the original cast, Figment and the Dreamfinder.
The new one gives off a lot of 1999 Inspector Gadget vibes. Getting kinda dated in that regard.

Figment is so adorable
They need to renovate this poor ride. The figment animatronics need it badly. When I went his jaw didn’t move at all and he just bounced. That can sometimes cause technical difficulties and an in-show exit. While that’s a problem I wouldn’t mind getting an in-show exit on this ride because figment is surprisingly one of my all time favorite Disney characters and the fact that in-show exits are possible on this ride I would be thrilled to evacuate on this ride!! Extra time in the land of my favorite boy.

I rode this and it had problems and it moved late and sound cuts and wow it stopped a bit even at IMAGINATION on loop it did move until a long time.

I wish I was born in the 80's so I could have experienced epcot in its "prime". They had Horizons, World of Motion, Spaceship Earth (they had WAY too many reincarnations of that, voice wise), Universe of Energy, and of course Journey into Imagination. Since all my favorites are gone, Figment has to be my favorite. It went from amazing, to crappy, to "okay I'll admit it's really outdated." The ride has a charm, although all the real charm was removed and the original track as well. I still love it, only because it has a timeless character, a great history, and it's one of the only surviving attractions left to have not left its show building and still have the same mascot for 3 INCARNATIONS. Yes, I agree, it needs updates bad, but if we can keep the same character, and possibly get the original version, then you have my blessing to restore it. If you keep it the way it is, please just fix it.
That was sort of a rant but there's only so much I can say. Nothing can do the original ride justice, it was too timeless.

One time I went on this and at the scene with Dr Channing talking about setting imagination free didn’t trigger and the screens remained blank. I expect to scene to eventually run and that we had just gotten “stopped” but nope, everything else worked so without warning the air blast happened and scared the shit outta me

God poor figment. The little cutie needs a better home. One without a stupid five senses theme and back to the pure childlike joy of imagination. If they want to keep things informative they can include folks who can't see pictures in their heads. Dreamfinder comes back, they do their intro scene, figment remarks that imagining new ideas is hard, dreamfinder says some people can't see pictures in their minds but they can see ideas just as well as you or I can. Let's deposit these new ideas with our new friends. Insert song and away we go.

Disagree entirely ride doesn’t need to go.. Disney needs to put more love into these original IPs.

If Figment's upcoming movie is successful, that should give Disney enough motivation to make Journey Into Imagination into a better ride that doesn't break down like this.

@@TheSlideCell a Figment movie was announced to be in development in 2022. We haven't gotten any other news about it yet.

Similar thing happened to me in June :( no audio came on during the sing-along bit in the sight section and got stuck in front of figments house.
I guess they wanted you to just hum the theme.

That's funny. I got stuck at the same exact part for a minute on my last trip.
One time we got stuck because the doors didn't close properly and one other time we were stuck because they were unloading a wheelchair.

With Epcot phasing out the corporate sponsorship across all attractions, this falls on them to fix. The story of Kodak trying to pull out of their agreement, the lack of direction and the tourism drought of 2001 to 2004 is an interesting one that shaped the mess we have today.

If you wanted to ride something with a short wait to kill some time, ride Mexico, Nemo, Crush, & Spaceship Earth! I love all those rides/attractions, but I absolutely DESPISE Figment! The only thing I like about it is the Song!
LOVE the boat ride in Mexico, and I need to hit Spaceship Earth before it shuts down this year.

You may be asking: why does figment keep moving if the ride is not going anywhere? Simple, it’s the same reason John keeps moving when the fuse blows in act 2 of the carousel of progress: it’s to give the illusion of life. Suppose the lights didn’t go out for whatever reason and John didn’t move? would that look realistic? ‘Course not!

Speaking of Act II of Carousel...I am fascinated by animatronics but being in total dark with them gave me flashbacks to Five Nights at Freddy's 😂

The first real update it got a number of years back removed Figment and the Dreamfinder 100%. Ppl lost their minds and they reworked Figment back in to what we have now.

Cretins Guild well, my troubling memories of this ride unfortunately never fade into nonexistence! Anything is better than Figment lol! I rode it once! Never again! When the ride was over, I told my family “NEW RULE: From now on, never go on that ride ever again!” But yea there is great food in World Showcase!
Theme Park Crazy: I remember riding the original in 1998, and then coming back in 2003 (Top Thrill Dragster's Opening Year) and being P(Jumbotron Robot Death Sound)SED! OFF!
