- on the new Disneyland ride, Star Wars: Rise of Resistance. It's a good ride if you haven't been on before, one of the best ever. It's like Haunted Mansion meets Indiana Jones meets Guardians of the Galaxy meets Star Tours. They have a Gonk Droid in the queue you can take a photo with. Go on it sometime.

Even if it's a fake Kylo Ren, I don't know how I'd feel sitting there with him watching me for 20 minutes.

Reminds me of when I was on Radiator Springs Racers in February.
The vehicle we were on was stuck for some 15-20 minutes in front of the final Lightning and Mater animatronics before we could disembark, and soon, they just became very quiet...and stared at us.

Yeah but somethings are impossible to do without a screen and yes I agree with you and I would prefer it if rides used the screens for only things that can not be achieved with an animatronic such as characters moving.

MegaRayland picture this: an entire cheer time, their coach, and one family with a little girl stuck on top of the Tower of Terror, many of whom were afraid to even get on the ride in the first place. I thought it was an interesting behind the scenes look myself, but many of my teammates found that it truly was the Tower of Terror

ok but this is like horrifying. idk just when all the smoke and mirrors is gone it’s so creepy and unsettling. when all the displays went away i kinda clenched my butt a bit

Bet it took them 20 minutes to get you out because they had to form a narrative for why the ride stopped.
Killjoy McQuire operating attractions personnel here: narratives are usually formed when something goes wrong. In this case of the ride going down, narratives wouldn’t be needed because it’s just a simple downtime. However, if it’s a situation that was more dire / more serious, then it would be something more narrative-worthy because it can be a cost to the company.
Additionally, if they were to be writing a narrative, it would be AFTER evacuating everybody off of the ride instead of before. The biggest rule that all theme parks have is safety. Safety, safety, safety! If they started writing narratives before the evacuation, their asses would’ve been fired for not having their focus be on the guests, because during these situations they want the guests off ASAP.

I adore how you can’t have a bad mood at Disney. In any other circumstances people would be annoyed a ride breaks down, but here people whip out their cameras, enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the ride, and just chat like they’re all drinking buddies.

I love that even stuck, they still look around and talk about Star Wars, true Star Wars fans. I would of loved to have an in show exit on this ride. It is so amazing.
A good way to handle this without breaking immersion is to have a backup “force freeze” sound effect play and have luke & some other jedi cast members come to rescue you
Would be so funny if they had to develop a showy way to escort guests out of the ride because it malfunctions like this so often.

Plot twist, this was Kylo Ren's plan to extract the information from the guests via intimidation
So according to the timer, this person has been stuck in that scene for 20 minutes. I feel like I’m saying this for everyone when I say that if this happened to me, I would say that has been the greatest 20 minutes of my life! And now I know what happens when u get stuck on Rise of the Resistance!

This happened to us and we went through the back
I was locked in the interrogation room for 15 minutes during previews.
That kind of video makes you wonder how the guys in the elevator scenes were evacuated, and if the preshow simulators too were stuck..
The motion elevator scenes probably just froze in a neutral position and were immediately evacuated
I doubt the preshow simulator was stuck cuz it's probably a different ride system. They would have to stop them, however.
The collective dissapointment when the lights turned on got me. I would love to be there just to see a normally dark place lit up, it show what disney tries to hide in the dark

Imagine if you were stuck in the elevator scene with Kylo Ren’s light sabre in the roof or if you were stuck just before the end
That’s about where I got stuck last week - we stopped in the room where Kylo runs at you and had to be evacuated. It was a little disappointing but they gave all of us fastpasses to come back anytime that day once it was back up. The worst part of it was the alarm sound effect kept looping until they eventually stopped sound effects and projections

Thank you so much for how you reacted. I once got stuck on a water ride here in the UK. It stopped in a safe place and staff e-stopped it. I was with a friend and a family, as it held 5 people. Another boat had stopped just a little bit further up and a grown woman started screaming in panic for no particular reason and it upset the young family. Seriously people, these rides are built by professionals after thousands of hours of design and planning. You will be fine! Stay ca and make the most of it, like those in this video
I got to ride this twice with no issue and I’m glad that the first time it didn’t break down. Nothing like the first time though that makes it that magical. The first time will always be better than the second time.
I think the first order guy that checked on you guys was the same guy who called my cousin insane for laughing while being put into different groups
Not gonna lie, I kept expecting the animatronic to suddenly move or something and spook everyone.
I can just imagine someone breaking the silence by saying "Anyone wanna go for some Blue milk after this?"
cast members are the best! first, making sure everyone is safe and alright, and then keeping the experience a close second. never broke character but still managed to let the guests know that they’re being cared for. well done!

Honestly, it'd be so smart to make the resistance guys be the ones to go fish people out during an in-show exit because they could kinda stay in character with the whole "we're here to break you out, let's make sure we get you out safely"
I just noticed that they have an “In-character” spiel (interruption to transport power) and an “out-of-character” spiel (the ride has stopped). Seems like they break character at a critical ride error, which probably happened when the screens turned off.

I have some family who worked on Rise of the resistance and he says he’s disappointed in them for making you guys wait 20 minutes so my condolences from that family member who’s pissed at his ride not being efficient. 😂😂
I was also on this while it broke down! I loved that the screens still project space and the battle alarm starts going off!

Probably the best ride I’ve ever experienced. Absolutely amazing. It was neat to see the lights come on.
No wonder those boarding groups get backed up so long the response time is pretty bad
They need to get digital confirmation that all trams are stopped. If one isn't responding, then they have to sort that out before anything else can happen.

This pretty much happened to me earlier this week - the ride stopped and we were escorted backstage to exit. Instead of getting stuck in front of Kylo, I was stopped at the turbo lasers which suddenly stopped firing. We waited for probably 15 mins before we were greeted by a cast member and then walked through some of the halls of the star destroyer, which in itself, was pretty rad.

After riding this, I enjoy this video a lot better.
Ride broke three times when we went on it. They gave us free fast passes for it and another ride cause they felt super bad. I’ve seen this ride so many times 😂
