Heck ! You’re not only a cool Skipper but a great boat chef as well. You’re a talented person Dave. Glad I finally found your U-tube channel. Cheers 🥂 Nick.

I like the cast iron skillet idea to dissipate the heat! Nice calm glass water!

Hi T Rad, thanks for tuning in to my channel. Using the skillet made a ton of difference when I bake on Tramontana.

David, very nice boat !! Could you do a boat tour for us - it would be interesting. I am wondering what do you keep in green cylinders attached to the stern rail. Nice "kitchen" ! May I suggest two things: freshly ground pepper should always be added in your plate, just before eating..... and second - make extensions to the burner grate ( pointing inward ) so you can have smaller pots/pans steady.... I use similar butane stoves on my boats and could not use espresso pot to make coffee because of its small diameter. I had to extend all four burner grate sections using pieces of flat iron. Cheers & keep safe,

Hi z g, thanks for watching my video and your right about the pepper. I also use pepper on my meals along with Franks hot sauce, when I’m ready to eat. As for a tour my cruising season is over and I’ve taken everything off Tramontana yesterday. When she’s on her trailer I’ll remove most of the wood for the winter. I’ll make a tour video at the start of next season. I do have a few clips showing my upgrades on the interior of Tramontana that I could make into a short video if you would like. The green canisters are for storing my propane and butane bottles. They are vented in the bottom so if a bottle leaks it will sink over the side of my boat instead of sinking into my bilge.

Hi David thanks for answering! It would be good to see what have you done regarding upgrades, if you can find some time pls do make video(s) about it. Great storage idea for gas bottles!

I also “second” the PVC tubes as L.P. Great Storage safety idea 👍

I use the small cast iron skillet directly for my corn bread. It spreads the heat from my single burner coleman and it is the pan for the bread at the same time. Seems to work if the heat is kept off the high setting.

@@liamstone3437 Good morning Liam, thanks watching my video and sharing your information about using cast iron. I use cast iron at home to bake in. Now on Corazon I’m experimenting with a folding camp oven. My next trip I’m making pizza from scratch!

Great videos David! I also look forward to seeing a tour video when you're setup again for next season. I have a customer who will be selling their Montgomery 17 and seeing the potential you have shown in your videos is very inspiring!

Hi George, thanks for watching my video. I’m putting together a short video on my interior now and will make a video next spring on the deck and cockpit changes I’ve made.

Very nice set up, I have also made a camp stove for my Montgomery 17. I really like your hatch companion way doors, looks great.

Hi Randy, thanks for watching the video. I really enjoy doing the wood projects on Tramontana. I’m especially happy how the doors turned out. Where do you sail your M17. Do you take your Montgomery on extended trips?

@@davidyoung5321 This is actually my second Montgomery 17, which I ordered and picked up new in 2009 after owning five other boats. We live on a lake in west central Wi, so for the most part it is parked at my dock. I have taken it up to Lake Superior and sailed around the Apostle Islands a dozen times or so. I also have sailed on Lake Pepin, which is a wide spot on the Mississippi River, about an hour from my home. Thanks for doing your videos, sailing videos tend to help me survive our winters here, and it snowed some last night.

Very cool cooking! I just went full vegan and am thinking about what to cook on the San Juan Cruse I will hopefully be joining you and some others this June. I have a little dog with some serious medical issues that is keeping me from preparing for the June trip but hope we can move forward and get him in good enough shape that I can make the trip. This would be my 2nd San Juan trip, went in 2009 with a large group of Monty's led by Larry.

Hi Jim, I hope everything works out for your little pal so you can make it on our trip in June. It’s a great group of pocket cruisers that I travel with. I’ve been on several trips with Larry and Corndog since my move to the Pacific Northwest.
I love cooking on Tramontana. It’s been fun learning how to bake and prepare a variety of meals on a small sailboat without having refrigeration. I look forward to sharing my baked bread 🥖 with you. Thanks for watching my videos. I look forward to you staring in one.
