This band has so many wonderful songs, and if you’ve ever heard their quite frankly really bad music when they were starting out, it’s very inspirational and amazing how they’ve evolved. I hope your dream comes true, but don’t lose heart if it doesn’t. Consider working as some kind of mentor for some kids in foster care, or being part of an organization like Big Brothers Big Sisters. It isn’t very easy to adopt children, I wish I could but I know I just don’t have the money and job to support kids. You can still make a difference just by being someone who can be a positive influence in a kids life when they feel they have no one. Take care!!!

Amen! Was just thinking on the same meaning behind this song, myself. Most notably how John, along with his 4 older sisters, were all once orphans themselves, at one earlier point in their lives. Recalled reading his story over a decade ago. Regardless of such circumstances, God bless him for the man he turned out to become; otherwise, the music world, as we know it, today, would be gradually different and without the spiritual / emotional healing that is the Goo Goo Dolls!

I heard this song in 06 when my family finally broke apart. I was in six grade. My mother went into depression and neglected me after my "father" vanished. My other siblings where in High school and had friends to turn to. Young, confused, and alone. I heard this playing on my little radio as I stood in the night in front of school while I was getting ready to walk 10 miles to home.
Thinking back now makes me want to cry. But I won't. This song helped me grow.

Oftentimes I feel compelled to listen to this song again, but each time I do I cry. Not tears of joy and hope, but tears for the hopelessness I feel for humanity. It just seems most of them are not going to listen, pokefan100. They will not listen to the one poor child who saved this world, nor will they pray for the 10 million more. I just had the chance to see these guys perform live for the first time this week. Incredible talent. But this song literally struck a chord in me when I heard it played from three feet in front of me. It's incredibly soulful. The people who only know goo goo dolls because of Iris are really missing out on some good quality music, this is one of my favorite bands and really hope they do a Europe tour soon so I can see them live.

My son Evan was in this video. Always brings back great memories of that day in Malibu. My son took a liking to John and at one point disappeared in the darkness just after the shoot scaring me to death. He had gone back up the hill to ask John if they were going to do some more filming. He really enjoyed doing this video. We still have the original copy from Revolver Film Company that they gave us to keep. Beautiful song.

This is very much a New Years song, that's the point of "the world begins again," and the "everyone's forgiven now" is about the idea of old grudges being forgotten in the new year. It feels christian, sure, but the concepts of renewal and forgiveness aren't its sole property, and Jesus' birth isn't the time of forgiveness and renewal, that's his resurrection as his sacrifice is completed and transitions the world into a new spiritual phase.

He captured 25 years, made it a sound, then went for it lyrically. I love the fact that this song belongs to the ppl that love it. Whenever I hear it, my life and family and friends flash in my mind. My dad got hit with stage 3 cancer this year, and my heart has been broken since his diagnosis. All I want is better days for him and I. This song makes me so emotional. In 2018 my grandma and grandpa passed away both in the same year, and I saw the Goo Goo Dolls in October that year. I lost it when I heard this song live. I wanted better days for me and my family. I’m not the type to get emotional, but I cried like a baby in front of strangers that night. ❤

Its fall 2005 and I just turned 19 years old when this song came out. I can literally remember what it felt like knowing my final year as a teenager was prepping me for my 20s. I saw Goo Goo Dolls 2 years later with Life house in Pensacola, they sounded just as amazing in person. It may have only been 16 years ago but I miss that time in my life.

Life was awesome in 2020! I refused to play into the fear and had a great year. My kids went to school (in person) full time, went to work every day, went on several trips (beaches in Florida, skiing in northern Michigan, etc...), made more money then any other year, worked out more and am in better shape. If your year was terrible you only have yourself to blame. If your state is closed, find a better one that is open and stop voting Democrat.
It was a shame that our morbidly obese billionaire governor shut down all swimming pools, but fortunately there are lakes to swim in. Shutting down swimming, gyms and sports was easy for him.l, but restaurants was a little harder.

This song hits so different after almost 2 years of pandemic hitting us…
And even more differently now, with the war in Ukraine - at least, I think so...
Saw The Goo Goo Dolls in concert back in 2019. This song was a part of their set and as a fan, of course, I knew it. What I didn't know is this song had a deeper meaning to my mom, who was sitting next to me at the time. My parents lost their small business during the recession. My mom told me during the playing of the song that she used to listen to this song during some really hard times in '07-08. Can't really look at the song the same without tearing up.
This song gives me the strength to appreciate life and loved ones. If only I had someone to sing this too

This band always made such meaningful music. when I am feeling down, this music lifts me up. going through a difficult time. sometimes getting up every day is a struggle for me. I keep hoping I find better days ahead. and I am glad this music is here to comfort me in times of pain and darkness.

Bill B. Yeah I think we all loved it! It came out on the same month as my birthday and it was a great feeling it was kind of like a little gift from god.
I decided to start watching the series Jericho again after probably 10 years. In one of the opening scenes of the series, this song comes on as Jake the main character returns home for what seems the first time in a long while. I nearly burst into tears on the spot. I haven't heard this song since 2006 and my last deployment to Iraq but this song was one of the things that got me through those turbulent times. It's amazing how simply hearing a song you haven't even thought about for over a decade immediately brings all the memories and feelings of the time it impacted you the most back like it was just yesterday.
Although you may never read this. Thank you Goo Goo Dolls I just wanted you to know how much you affected this serviceman back in the day.

It was around 1:07am on Thanxgiving morning, and i got a call from my mom informing me of my lil brothers passing.
After a night of little sleep, talking to my close loved ones, embracing the stages of Grief, and getting those annoying "Im so Sorry" text messages, i went out on a drive with my mom and dad to a Thanksgiving dinner. I was drowning myself in music and this song pops up so i played it full blast on my earbuds to ignore the world, remembering my lil brother.
