I have just listened to both versions for the very first time in immediate succession, so hopefully I can contribute a different perspective when comparing the new version to the old. I definitely think the original version starts off better, it communicates a more complicated emotion than this one does. The original's opening feels like it has so much more going on under the surface, layers and layers of subtext that are flying completely over my head, but that I can sense are there. I didn't get that so much with this remake version. As the song progresses though, I think the remake surpasses the original, because it feels like this is what the original wanted to be if only they'd had a full orchestra to do it with at the time. I don't know that for certain though, maybe the simplicity was an artistic choice. It doesn't contribute much new, but I prefer it that way. I applaud the composers for resisting the temptation to try and make it their own, and instead simply expand on the original. I will say that this version nearly made me cry. The original did not.
Just like every other song on this soundtrack, the remake goes for EPIC ORCHESTRA every time. That does not make me cry, it makes me groan. It's like Bluepoint could simply not stay away from adding a choir to EVERYTHING, regardless of whether it fits or not. This ending track is supposed to be the 'bad ending' music, yet here it almost sounds heroic and triumphant.
Yea they left out a major chord progression too which was my favorite part, the part that would normally come after 1:48 but overall this theme is much better than some of the other ones, it at least captures the atmosphere of the OG really well.
@Dman [Formerly Sneed] But the original game still exists... Bluepoint didn't ruin anything. No matter what small changes they add into the remake, nostalgic players would always complain about it. By saying Bluepoint ruined the franchise you just sound like a spoiled kid.
great piece but i still tihink the original version gives way more focus on what you just did, it makes you feel powerful and filthy at the same time. this just feels like an outro
I get tonal whiplash from the pieces in this soundtrack, this song fits so well with the objectively bad ending but then you have music that doesn’t serve the tone of the game at all, still an amazing composition however.
Objectively bad ending? Who says the demons are bad and humans good? Both are relatively social constructs, I mean, DONT YOU UNDERSTAND!? No one wishes to go on...
Don't get me wrong but I honestly think that the original track holds up much better; the perfect simplicity of the original just isn't there anymore. Also this sounds waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much like Dark Souls (a little bit more like Bloodborne, now that I think about it).
This sounds incredible even if it's a little worse than the original. This is by no means a bad song, the only people who think so are people who can't accept the fact that something new can be good too. The remake has way too much hate imo
Kind of a stagnant opinion, tbh. It is not a universal law, remade games can actually be good you know. I haven’t played Demon Souls nor the remake, but going from the consideration this particular remake might be worse than the original, to stating that From games are not to be remade because they would certainly be worse… it’s a bit too far lol

But when the song progresses though that's where it completely lost the meaning of that ending. It's not supposed to be bombastic and epic lol

I don't dislike this new version, is probably one of the better remade songs. But whenever I hear it I think of the original
Because the original is the creative one, this is a remix and there's a lot of remixes out there, BluePoint's is just another one.
Bravo! tão linda quanto a original 👏👏👏....
I can't understand why they would leave out the piano + violin crying together that the original song had. I *really* liked that part of the song!

Everything in the original is better. You don’t remake From games. You remaster them. Otherwise you’ll just end up with something worse.
