The atmosphere of this boss is surely one of the best in the Souls series. The massive size of it (so huge it literally shields you from the rain), the absolutely gorgeous sound design which really makes you feel like you're fighting a kaiju, and last but not least, his epic theme.
Yea bro, I played this on acid and it made me fall in love with the theme and storm king. It felt realistic af. The controller and 3D headset just enhanced that experience
God these things look and sound majestic AF. Feels almost criminal to kill them. Even if they are demons. Gives me more appreciation for all the references to storm ruler and the Storm King in later FromSoft games. There's variations of storm ruler in your fight against Yhorm the Giant in DS3 and The Serpent King in elden ring. As well as this location being referenced again in Elden Ring with Stormveil and the implication from Stormhawk Deenh's ashes of the Old King of Stormveil being the source of the "true storm". There's also "The King of the Storm" in DS3, as the stormdrake the nameless king uses as a mount. Just very cool to see FromSoft keeping certain motifs across their games (e.g. Darkmoon Greatsword, the fog, etc), loosely connecting these otherwise stand-alone universes they've created.
