Nice work! I would truss you boys to build one for my Outback.

I did this axle swap in my TJ, the Barnes truss kit is awesome! It installs "easy"(IE a lot of work but not complicated). I have now installed three Barnes trusses, two 8.8 and one HP D44, can't say enough about their products. I rebuilt the LS, new brakes etc. I have wheeled it run it as a daily and it's great! Now I am pulling it! Yup,,, I built a full width 8.8 out of an F150 (Yes the Barnes truss fits the F150 8.8) 65" wide along with a HP D44 for the front. Soon the Eplorer 8.8 will be sitting on the stand looking for a new home LOL...
Crazy thing is the backlash I got on a TJ forum for putting an 8.8 in a TJ. Yeah WAY stronger than a D35, way more available and cheaper than a D44. But "their" issue is it's size, hangs down sooo much etc. "It was a good solution ten years ago" . "You can build the 35 to be super strong" UH huh or just stick an 8.8 in!
Key board warriors that probably don't even have tools beyond a hammer and vice grips but hey..
BTW I wanna say I used grand Cherokee E brake cables and a adapt a U-joint(one side is smaller Jeep, the other fits the Ford) since I already had the flange mount for the bigger Ford U-joint.

Good advice for the e brake! I definitely wouldn’t say the 35 could be built to be super strong. Stronger, maybe, but the ring size alone is a huge weak point.

What size drill bit and tap did you use for the new vent hole?
