To get round any learning curve with Total Mix you can use the DAW mode that routes everything 1 to 1 negating the use of anything in TMFX with exception of the gains. TMFX is very much a digital console built in to your interface and like any other digital console they take a while to learn manufacturers design decisions. I would be upset if RME changed TMFX to make it easier to use if we lost features - is so good! I’m also super excited because of a recent-ish driver update and app release, I can use my RME &iPad to live-mix/track with full control through the iPad meaning I can live mix small, live environment, audio productions with multitracking! SO BRILLIANT! You can learn a DAW in a day, take some time and unlock the mega-power of RME & TMFX

I cant say I agree that Total Mix is all that complicated for it's basic use and getting up and running. But for the more advanced features like Loopback and assigning software input channels I think the problem is less with Total Mix FX itself, and more with the RME videos not being as clear as they could be(just like you said). Im a power user now for nearly 10 yrs and just this year started using Loopback to it's full potential. I did have to watch the RME youtube videos multiple times and just dive in completely to figure it out. Adrian does a great job on a lot of the videos but i found myself scratching my head on a few of the loopback vids.

Barry, as someone who got into the RME game about the same time you did...9 months ago give or take a day, I look forward to your series on TotalMix. It took me two days to get it working for me and my setup. The difference being that my setup is infinitely easier than yours. I have a Fireface UCX II and a Focusrite Clarett+ 8 Pre. At most I need 1 monitor/headphone mix for a drummer, bass guitarist or guitarist. Anyway, I look forward to your series and it should be educational for me. Thanks for the videos you put out. I have been a long time subscriber and have enjoyed the channel for at least a year now.
