- In a rich heritage zone in North Kerala named Feroke, sits a home next to the Chaliyar River that honours the cultural significance of fishing boats on that site. The structure is made to look like floating boats when viewed from the river.
Designed as a luxurious family home with 5 bedrooms, Floating House embodies architecture, structure, theatre and drama, all skillfully expressed through pure white volumes of varied scales and proportions.

Naturally-lit spaces, cantilevers, and the sculpted central staircase are some of the key highlights of this project. The Principal Architect walks through the house and explains how he thoughtfully designed spaces defined by function and proportion, while providing uninterrupted views of the river and natural surroundings.

Beautifully designed home. Fabulous! Although as a Keralite, the only thing I could think of while watching the video was the river. In a flooding state like Kerala, I don't know how safe it is to build homes on riverbanks, no matter how beautiful it is.

They could have raised the height of the ground floor by atleast 5 feet for safe guarding against floods.

Is it just me, although it looks very modern and minimilistic, it feels like a guest house or a farm house or house meant for special occasions, anything but home.
Having a 100m river facing side plot is a dream….the design form fully utilized this feature to create a seamless architecture….only thing I would have done is used floor to roof sliding doors that can roll up into the wall on the ground floor and open up the house to the spectacular river views blurring the boundary of house and nature
You can't do huge sliding doors in this location because this entire area is prone to heavy winds and storms.
What a marvellous design done by this architecture . He should really got an award for his work

@@AlwyneAvinash I don't think so , it's a plot of 32000 sq feet , which is around 73 cents . Even if we consider a decent amount for a cent say 10Lakh in this River front area , it crosses 7 Crores just for the Land 😂.
If it looks spectacular...then you should have the common sense to know that cost will also be spectacular.

I wonder how effective these contemporary styled glass houses are in Kerala where the climate is hot and humid. Glass houses are better in cold regions with less heat and light. The electricity bill to keep this house cool would be high.

the house looks good , but what about security? from what i saw people could easily scale and get into the pool side from the surrounding property .. and the house is made of so much glass . if u leave for a vaction somone could eaisly break the glass and get in? no?

Keralites take their homes very seriously. Most people live in well-designed two storey houses that resemble mansions in other states.
Actually it's not that costly if you compare it with other states ( metro ) .where single piece land itself is luxuary .

It's VERY modern n angular . Looks nice.
If i can critique , it's not going to age well, lack character, and doesn't feel home ( to me ). Kerala has loads to be inspired by as far as architecture goes. I wish some character was infused into the house reflecting kerela ( except water ) .
P/s architect delivered to clients brief - however western houses are at odds in our rich indian traditions n culture. For me - architecture needs to keep indian identity while including western elements.

Unfortunately it’s not good for Kerala climate condition. It’s just a concrete forest. Can’t enjoy that balcony while raining. People are mesmerized by the design, but the home owners aren't aware of the future maintenance of the designs nor about its usefulness.
