    Please add more videos on safety PLCs and how to programme them. Very important topic in industrial automation!

    That's right! I would only add, that the logic isn't always the same as for automation PLC. For example, I work at SICK with security sensors as an engineering intern, and one of our products is SICK Safety PLC, the Flexi Soft. It doesn't use Ladder, but a drag-and-drop logic. The Professor from my university says it is harder to manage with, but I think it is easier in comparison to Ladder hahaha.

    Does the logic written for a Safety PLC need to be certified, or does the person who writes the logic for a safety PLC need to be certified, such as TÜV? Thanks in advance!

    • @realpars
      @realpars  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The person who designs the SIS system specifications and details the SIF requirements (including SIL calculations) should be TUV or CFSE certified. The programmer does not need to be. The program will be tested against the specifications after installed. The certified engineer will have ultimate responsibility of the end product.

    Although the functions are similar, it would be great to see a breakout from machine safety, vs process safety as all the examples on this are surrounding process safety.

    Thanks for the video. I would disagree when you say that a safety PLC is programmed in the same way as a regular PLC. Safety PLCs are energized systems while regular PLCs are de-energized systems, which means that in order to keep higher rates of safety, the Safety PLC logic application is 1 to normal and 0 to shutdown, this makes the whole programming mindset changes between both systems.

    • @realpars
      @realpars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Raul. You’ll get no disagreement from us on your point about programming. To be clear, when we say that both regular and safety PLC’s are programmed in the same way, we are not referring to programming techniques or mindset. We are speaking of using the same programming software and/or methods such as ladder logic or function block.
