The reason why US government forced China's companies to sell itself is that they didn't follow the rules of "FAIR COMPETITION", the manifestation that China's government haven't taken the restrictive actions to US companies exactly shows their nobility of morality. In contrast, the US government is despicable.

    US social media is not banned in China. They left because they refused to comply with local Chinese law to keep all data on Chinese citizens inside the country. This is something Bytedance did with TikTok as they're all kept on Oracle servers in the US. US companies didn't adhere to their laws so they can't do business there.

    • @williamlee7782
      @williamlee7782 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You're referring to the national security law of 2015.
      China banned Facebook in 2009 following the Urumqi riots in the Xinjiang province. The Chinese government alleged that the riots were planned on Facebook and that the platform refused to cooperate by disclosing information about the alleged planners. As a result, Facebook was blocked in mainland China, except for the Hainan province, where it is allowed to operate to attract tourists. It remains unblocked there to this day alogn with TH-cam, Google, X, etc.
      The ban on Facebook is part of China's broader internet censorship regime, known as the "Great Firewall", which restricts access to many foreign websites and social media platforms. Other banned platforms include Twitter, Instagram, TH-cam, and Google services[3].
      While Facebook is blocked in mainland China, it can still be accessed using a VPN (virtual private network) that routes traffic through a server outside of China. However, the use of VPNs is also monitored and sometimes restricted by the Chinese government[2][5].
      In 2018, Facebook attempted to set up a $30 million subsidiary in Hangzhou to incubate startups and provide advice to local businesses, but the permission was quickly withdrawn[4]. Despite the ban, Facebook still generates significant revenue from China through advertising resellers[2].

      China requires that Chinese users’ data must be stored in China and must comply with China’s national laws and regulations to remove false and harmful pornographic information. It's that simple. Microsoft, Apple, and Amazon all have no problem. Google withdrew on its own because Google is not even willing to put the data of Chinese users in China. As for Facebook, why is it banned if it has not entered the Chinese market at all? You have to understand that TikTok is essentially an American company. Chinese companies only hold 20% of the shares, but the Chinese company has technical algorithms. This is what the U.S. government and the capital behind it want, but the Chinese government does not allow this algorithm technology to be obtained by the U.S. government. It's that simple。

      I find it funny the Democratic president who says he's so pro-democracy is actively looking to make an authoritarian move but Trumps the dictator. Read the bill. It gives the President authority to ban any website. What's going to stop him from acting like communist China and ban any outlet that disagrees with him. The reason Joe Dimentia wants to ban tik tok because that's where all information against him for supporting Israeli hate crimes is based which shuts down his dissent. Young people don't like Joe Biden and he's actively avoiding College Campuses because he doesn't want to be heckled for his unwavering support of ISRAEL.

I am personally troubled by the scilence and the anchors need to stand behind because the message is affecting over 160 million of my neighbors in my country. Mothers and fathers, single moms to older generations will lose their job along with major investors in a time our country is headed down the hill. This is not the case of 1 city or fewfamilies, but we are talking about over 50% of americans who are on tiktok. So for everyone who backed this ban needs to show us facts and evidence and not just what medias are saying. If you are risking people lives you need to be ready to be responsible and stay behind your words. We dont live behind a desk, behind a framework, behind politics, we live in a real society where I am still witnessing my 85 years old dad worry about insurance and work. If TikTok is banned in the USA, it will be the best thing that has happened to the USA in the last 10 years. It doesn't matter who steals data or whether data is stolen. The youth of America will be saved!
