For the ones like me that were facing a problem with the installation (MS don't let you install without internet connection), in the screen that you were supposed to connect, you press Shift-F10 and get the command prompt, type oobe\bypassnro . Then hit enter. It will reboot your computer, and the next time through setup it will give you the option to continue without Internet.
YES!!! THANKS!!! Been banging my head attempting to get win10 installed via KVM, running into hurdles and brick walls. Tried win11, same thing... until... UNTIL I found this video!!! I have all working now! BTW, installed KVM to get a windows instance to update the firmware of a USB hardware device. The hardware manufacturer only has a windows base firmware upgrading process. Liked and subscribed as well!
For the best VM hygiene you must install another browser so that you can change the infinite selections of default program for file extensions away from edge.
This is great. Most of it I found by scrounging and trying, etc., but the tip on the additions pack was extremely helpful and I'd never have got there by myself. thx
If you don't get the option "I don't have internet", then press "Shift+F10" and in the command line type "OOBE\BYPASSNRO" and enter. This will reboot the machine and start the process again and you will get the option.
I very much liked the presentation and its commentary. One question however, I noticed that you got sound working. I am assuming that this is a pass through. How would I add say add a portable drive as additional storage place? Thanks for your response.
Dude this tutorial is so awesome thank you only thing I need now is a tutorial on gout passthru but other than that thank you very much for the hard work
Hi great video. But i have a problem initiating a virt-manager guest OS install on my Arch Linux based system. Can you help? I keep getting a "Failed to connect socket to '/var/run/libvirt/virtqemud-sock': No such file or directory" error after selecting the Windows install ISO. A pointer would be appreciated. Thanks
I was browsing your channel and I didn't find any video of how runs the windows apps in this virutal machine. Could you aupload one with some examples?
I currently have 2 problems coming from a vm i created using the elp of Virtio drivers. The first is that I have no way the machine can remember the resolution I previously set, the second is that I have no audio whatsoever.
@@Trafotin Yeah, figured as much. I've reinstalled Win11 from scratch. Only thing that botters me is that it doesn't like VirtIO for graphics, at least for me, until drivers aren't installed or either doesn't want to start at all. I eventually kept reinstalling trying different combinations until everything was finally working as it "should". Is there an alternative for VGA passthrough?
Check to see if you set up groups correctly from the Fedora article, it's the same commands for Arch. Garuda also might give you a modified package because they have some weird AUR fork.
how would i do this without virt-manager? my VM server is cli only and i don't want virt manager as i don't want more than one pc running to operate a VM + it eliminates complexity as i understand what my own scripts do
Hey, i do phone repair and use windows a lot to flash xiaomi phone etc. When using this virtualization is it easy to connect a device into the windows VM? Thanks
You shouldn't do flashing through a virtual machine. There's a whole host of things that can go wrong and it's better to just dual boot on a separate drive or have a spare computer. And if you want to connect USB devices (I've tested webcams and microphones), you can redirect a USB in the "Virtual Machine" menu.
its still super choppy, i am running wayland maybe thats why but it shouldnt have anything to do with it. ive installed the drivers and rebooted. if i enable 3d aceleration gpu fails to start
Wouldn't it be a easier option to use Rufus to remove TPM, secure boot, enable local account, remove 4gb minimum from the ISO then run the windows install? Could work I just haven't had the time to try it out, some day maybe.
Windows is not activated, but it's a generic KMS code to bypass activation. You'll eventually get the watermark, but Windows is still usable. If anything, it's a badge of honor that you didn't finance Panos's kids' college tuition.

needs a pin, that MS is obnoxious with that shit
I never though a VTuber could be this based. Genuine respect to you, dude. Keep going!

bro edge (formerly known as explorer) is just a gui app for easier web browser download anyways, people know that since the 90s
Thank you. Like you mentioned there aren't many videos about this. Using your instructions helped even though I'm on a different distro.
You can use VirtIO for the virtual disk too which is supposed to perform better. You have to attach the virtio-win ISO file when creating the VM.
You forgot to "end the cancer that is light theme" :D

I Love your rant on Microsoft ;-) and also you tutorial with the Manga
Mine didn't take me to the boot of the Windows ISO at all, idk what I did wrong.

Very good and helpful. Thanks
is there any way to enable 3d acceleration in this just like you do when using VMware?
Thanks a ton. 🙏

Just run them like it was a normal computer. :)
Works great thanks.. Guess no chance i cann pass through my single amd 5700xt for gaming? I tried adding pci and just blanked all my screens
how you can select virtio on windows VM ? dang something wrong with my pop os then ?
Hi, for some reason windows 11 on virt manager is not booting (just stuck on "TianoCore"), but, fedora runs good
Try removing spice and trying again. The guest agent might also need to be reinstalled.
hey i am unable to run wsl in windows 11 guest machine.

This is a bug right now in Windows. Blame Microsoft.

I think you should have used tiny11. can you make a video using tiny11?
No, just use Windows 11 straight from Microsoft. Anything else is just asking for trouble.
i am having input lag problems with Virtio GPU on windows

I don't know what's going on, but just when I press enter to boot with the image as soon as it starts, the loading prompt immediately freezes.
Check to see if virtualization is enabled on your motherboard, look for VT-D or AMD-V. Otherwise, you might need to review installing virt-manager.

You need to check a box for OpenGL support in the Display Spice category when you add TPM.

It's called start learning how to use Linux or get a Mac because Windows 10's days are numbered. You have 1 year left.
@@Trafotin with recent version Virt-Manger no need for this step I just leave it on Q35
Hello is it normal that it takes time to show windows installation window?
Yes, it will be much slower than running on your normal machine, since you're only giving Windows a fraction of your computer's resources.
@@Trafotin Actually there was a problem with Fedoras secureboot package, I downgrade it and now I installed it.
I'm using Fedora...BTW... 🤪

what window manager are you using?
atm GNOME
has anyone found a way to take a snapshot of a vm with a tpm chip and secure boot enabled?
You take a snapshot like you always do in virt-manager. th-cam.com/video/m4cHMIMc0Cs/w-d-xo.html
@@Trafotin it fails saying git can't take snapshots when OVMF firmware is configured fro the vm

Can you help us out doing the same process but using an ubuntu 20.04 with an arm64 archictecture, so we can use windows on arm64 :)
