For some time now I've been viewing your Podcasts. Each time I've learned something new or found something I needed to work on, that "aha" moment! Last night we (me and the Mrs) caught this one and both really enjoyed it. I'm the painter, she's not. I haven't seen them all, yet, but each one has gotten better and better. Well done sir, looking forward to many more. Thank you.
I really enjoyed this extensive and lengthy interview, all the busing ness and nuts and bolts chat before the discussion about his art. It really makes you understand how an artist develops over time and makes me understand again that his skill as a graphic designer must really contribute to the great design of his paintings.
Good for Addie!!! I’m a figure/landscape painter and illustrator. During the Holidays I design and paint windows in Boise. Your comment about Addie reminds me of a year I painted a Dentists office. He chose one of my all white designs with swirls and snowflakes for his 12 set of large front windows. In about 15 min I was done. The Dentist and his staff were all flabbergasted and said “really we just all settled in to get to work and your done?!” So naturally everyone in the office had to come see. As we stood looking at the art work they were all like “wow!” Then the Dentists half sarcastic voice said, “you get paid more in an hour than I do, I’m in the wrong profession.” I knew he’d never have me back and I couldn’t resist so I replied “ well you know why that is? ,… it’s because I was born with talent so of course artists should be paid more.”Everyone except the Dentist laughed. Artists need to promote and stick up for themselves when times like these arise, so good job Addie! And don’t forget to tell your medical friends that every tool they use has to be designed by someone that is some sort of artist. That usually gets people to start thinking. 😊 Jeff ❤ your podcast!!!
❤ your reply. I’ve binged your podcasts all the way to SL and back to Boise. Inspired me to keep going and figure my next step. BTW we have many mutual friends … Zyer, Griffin. Funny thing is your experience with Griffey was very similar to mine with Parson. Good to know I wasn’t the only one. Lol Just bone more thing to keep me driven to prove’em wrong. lol Off to my studio to makes something of myself . 😊
fantastic interview. Living in a state that does not value community , I found your theories of Utah's art success fascinating. I think both theories are really fundamental foundations of Utah's success. I wound find an artistic community so valuable if i had one - thats why I listen to podcasts!
Excellent episode as always! As a fellow Utahn, I love learning about the amazing artists that live around me so episodes like this one are a little more special for me. Thank you for providing this amazing resource, I learn something new every time.
Once again…Such a great interview. I really needed to hear that the frustration is real also for you whom I so look up to and admire your work. Almost always, at some point, I feel like I’m ‘fighting’ with the painting. 😫. And I start talking to God…”please LORD, show me!” To which, I believe He responds with a smile…”Just keep working.” ☺️. And, my sweet husband always reminds me…”you always do this, and you will get through it.” Thanks again for these great interviews! 🙏💕
@@pleinaire8698 im so sorry for your loss 😟 I hope you don't mind me saying, and im sure you've heard it before, but i think your husband would want you to keep painting. It can be a beautiful way to honour someone who has passed to keep doing the things they admired about you ❤ i so hope you get your motivation back, this mad world needs all the beauty we can put back into it ❤

I think youre right. It’s a fortunate combination of qualities and events that made this culture.
Agreed I think it’s the combination of community and excellent art instructors!
"So good they can't ignore you" is an amazing book! Great interview, this was a fun one

Thank you so much! keep painting and hang on to the small wins.
My husband was the same way with my art. Keep going till you get it. Unfortunately, he died six years ago and I’ve lost my motivation.!😢

The moon analysis blew my mind, I didn't think of that. Thank you!
Another awesome interview 👍🏿💪🏿🙌🏿🔥
Great artist, great broadcast!!
Great comment regarding Michael Jordan and his training and passion for being good versus “networking”
Schmoozing doesn't hurt either.
True
