What a fantastic, inspirational, generous talk. Utterly brilliant, thank you so very much both of you for sharing so much, not only your time but your knowledge. 🙏🤩❤️
I relate to how David felt about the outdoors as a kid. When I see a beautiful mountain or tree, I feel like I’m in love. What a great dream studio! Also got a lot from the list - took a screen shot.
Finished watching this, and the photo ref editing process was probably the most instructive thing I have seen on the podcast. Thank you Jeff and David. I do agree with Jeff that David's childhood experiences allowed him to see the potential in the barn, whereas I have no emotional triggers to barns and would of ignored that reference image. I guess that is part of what makes each of us special. The coolest part is that after David paints his edits, I, whom doesn't care about barns, can see what he saw in it, and begin to develop a love of barns. Really cool. I am from Russia, so for me, my childhood emotional triggers are a love of dilapidated, abandoned, messy, grimy, industrial scenes. I wonder if I could have an advantage if I chose to paint those scenes, maybe I would bring something special to them. Thanks for the thought!
Wow. This was incredibly informative, I took so many notes. David is not only an excellent artist, but he is such a gifted teacher. I was hanging on to every word he said when breaking down his photoshop references-- SO good! 👏
Amazing episode with David Dibble! Loved the 12 considerations about painting landscape and their descriptions. Yes, I wrote them down!! Thanks so much Jeff. You always ask the questions that I'm wondering about.
as per OCD- When I was 3 It was the first time I noticed wrinkles and creases in my dress and I freaked out! I mean inconsolable freak out!! LOL You know how most really young kids draw...trees are rectangle with lollypop tops and dresses are blank triangles attached to squares. OCD from an early age.
"Sky" light might be cool as it enters if you are looking at blue sky which is lessened as you look down and away warming the light from sun only below.
Same thing with writing music. Hard and rare to spontaneously come up with that melody, and it's more trial and error and listening to references. For geniuses, I imagine it's the opposite; the spark comes out of nowhere (or less hyperbolic, from innate talent)-Mozart composing at five years old, for example.
Am a wife of an artist and a studio like this is a dream of mine for him. Am not an artist but I love listening to your podcast its something we love enjoying together.
David does incredible work for God's glory! It's very inspiring to me as a Christian artist
Yes he does!
Great story concept ..beautiful paintings. Well done.❤
Can’t wait for Dibble’s next guest appearance. This guy is brilliantly creative and a great teacher!
That was a masterclass! Thanks!

No problem. Thanks for listening!
Bringing up childhood experiences . Acknowledging the substance we are made of and accepting the journey. Good talk.
Love to hear the process of making art.

Great video. 34:40 is mysterious
I am indeed very inspired by this studio. Can't wait to earn mine, but its important to know where you want to live and settle first.
So true. Don’t rush it.
